This study aims to examine the studies on curriculum commitment in Turkey. The descriptive content analysis method was used in the research. Google Scholar and YÖK national databases were searched using the keywords "curriculum" and "fidelity." Twenty-four studies using these words in their titles were included in the research. Studies were classified according to the variables of year, language, study type, sample group, method, subject, and analysis techniques used. The results revealed that the number of studies on curriculum commitment had increased significantly in recent years. Most of the studies are in the Turkish language. More studies examine the commitment of secondary and high school teachers to the curriculum. Many of the studies are in the article type, and the number of doctoral studies is limited. The issue of commitment to the curriculum was more associated with personal and professional factors. Curriculum literacy, self-efficacy, curriculum design approach, professional commitment, program orientation, teacher autonomy, philosophy of education, teaching motivation, and learning-teaching process are other issues associated with curriculum commitment. Quantitative methods were used in most studies, and descriptive and univariate analyses were used more. The results revealed a need to increase the number of qualitative studies and diversify the methods used to understand the commitment to the curriculum better. 6ERIC EJ1158626: Effect Of Demonstration Method Of Teaching On Students' Achievement In Agricultural Science
By ERIC
The study investigated the effect of demonstration method of teaching on students' achievement in agricultural science in secondary school in Kogi East Education Zone of Kogi State. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. The study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The population for the study was 18225 senior secondary two (SSII) students in 195 secondary schools. Six (6) secondary schools were used for the study using purposive random sampling technique. In each of the school selected, two intact classes of the SSII were used. Four hundred and eighty (480) students in the twelve intact classes constituted the sample for the study. The instrument for data collection was a 30-item "Agricultural Science Achievement Test" (ASAT). Using Kuder Richardson 20 (K-R20) formula, a reliability index of 0.78 was obtained. Research questions 1 and 2 and the only hypothesis were answered using mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The result of study revealed that demonstration method had significant effect on students' achievement than those taught with the conventional lecture method. Useful recommendations such as: efforts should be made by teachers to thoroughly integrating demonstration method in the teaching of agricultural science in secondary schools; efforts should be intensified by teachers to aggressively adopt demonstration method in teaching agricultural science in all classes at the secondary school level were proffered.

By ERIC
The purpose of this study is to analyze the findings of studies on digital storytelling in the field of classroom education in Turkey using the systematic review method and determine the type of distribution that exists. The study analyzed 36 scientific publications made until the end of 2021. ERIC, Web of Science, Ulakbim, Google Scholar and National Thesis Center databases of the Council of Higher Education were used in the selection of the studies. Each of the theses and articles were analysed by content analysis and the results obtained from the research were examined in terms of digital storytelling tools. In the interpretation of the data obtained, tables were used and only frequencies were included numerically in the tables. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the outputs of all categories in the studies using desktop applications were mostly obtained from Photostory. When we look at the results of the studies in which web-supported tools were used, it was determined that the cognitive outputs were mostly obtained from the studies in which Powtoon and Tondoo tools were included in the implementation process. Similarly, the data revealed in terms of social and teaching aspects were obtained from studies dealing with Powtoon as a digital storytelling tool. Goanimate software was generally used in studies involving technological and affective findings. It was determined that the results evaluated under the psychomotor title were generally obtained from studies in which Goanimate and Storyjumper were used. Based on these results, in order to reach web 4.0 technology, virtual libraries that contain digital stories can be created in schools in Turkey. In rural areas that are unable to access the Internet, mobile libraries can be prepared.

9ERIC ED654336: A Study On The Effectiveness Of Chunk Teaching Method In English Writing Teaching In China's Middle Schools
By ERIC
Anchored in the researchers' investigation and experience during the internship at a middle school in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, this dissertation, carried out under the guidance of the theory of chunk teaching method, sorts out the current research results and findings on chunk teaching method, and then analyzes the differences between the chunk teaching method and other traditional writing teaching methods from the perspectives of contents and functions, which draws a conclusion that the utilization of chunk teaching method in China is of great significance to the improvement of middle school students' abilities in English writing. Before writing this paper, researchers conducted a series of preliminary preparations such as questionnaires, interviews and the same-topic writing tests. With that in mind, this dissertation reveals the chunk teaching method's capability of more or strengthening middle students' English writing ability, and thus demonstrates the effectiveness of chunk recitation in English writing teaching in China's middle schools, which provides reference and critical materials for scholars in this field. 10ERIC EJ1077403: Effect Of Constructivist Teaching Method On Students' Achievement In French Listening Comprehension In Owerri North LGA Of Imo State, Nigeria
By ERIC
The study investigated the effect of constructivist teaching method on students' achievement in French listening comprehension in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. Achievement in French listening comprehension over the years has been discouraging. The conventional method of teaching French Language has not improved the achievement of students in French Listening comprehension, hence the purpose of this study. It used a pre-test, post-test non-equivalent control group design. The study was guided by one (1) research question and hypothesis. The population of the study comprised three hundred and fifty (350) French students in Owerri North while forty five (45) students participated in the study. French achievement test was used for data collection. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering the research question while the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypothesis. The findings of this study show that there is significant difference in the mean achievement scores of students taught listening comprehension using constructivist method and those taught with the conventional method. Based on these findings, some recommendations were made, which include that teachers should adopt constructivists teaching method in teaching French listening comprehension since it has been found to improve students' achievement.

16ERIC ED277664: On Narrative Method, Biography And Narrative Unities In The Study Of Teaching.
By ERIC
This paper outlines a narrative method for the study of teaching which has as its principle feature the reconstruction of classroom meaning in terms of narrative unities in the lives of classroom participants. This purpose is achieved by comparatively outlining similarities and differences with closely associated lines of work. This study of narrative is primarily epistemological in character but deviates from epistemology as commonly understood in curriculum studies by focussing on personal experience rather than upon reconstructed formal logic. The governing question of the work is "How do teachers and students know their classrooms?" The working question is "What is the meaning of specific classroom actions for teachers and students?" Characteristics of the narrative method of inquiry are set forth by comparison and contrast with biography. Comparisons are restricted to five sets of recent educational writings : works by Pinar, Grumet, Darroch and Slivers, Berk, and Butt. The study begins with matters of similarity between biography and narrative and moves to matters of difference. Analysis indicates that reflection-in-action, biography, and narrative each contribute something to the understanding of classrooms. The case is made for narrative inquiry by sorting out its methods and purposes from those of biography. It is suggested that the narrative method offers a way to understand teaching and learning in classrooms as a temporal process reflecting the biographic histories of its participants. (JD)

18ERIC EJ1102743: The Effect Of Laboratory Training Model Of Teaching And Traditional Method On Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Skills-Components Of Achievement, Total Achievement And Retention Level In Chemistry
By ERIC
The present study aimed at finding the effectiveness of the Laboratory Training Model of Teaching (LTM) and comparing it with the traditional methods of teaching chemistry to seventh standard students. It strived to determine whether the (LTM) method in chemistry would be significantly more effective than the Traditional method in respect to the male and female students' overall as well as component-based achievement and retention in chemistry. Four homogenous groups of seventh standard students from two English medium primary schools in Mysore in India were selected adopting purposive sampling technique. Thirty students were selected from each class and hence 60 male and female students from school A and 60 from school B formed the sample of the study. Test of Higher Mental Ability in Science (THMAS) was used to determine the homogeneity of the participants. The 120 students of all the experimental and control groups were given the post-test at the end of the experimental work to both the experimental and control groups to measure their terminal behavior. The researcher-constructed and validated achievement test of chemistry was administered to the subjects in experimental and control groups at the end of the instruction to measure their achievement in chemistry. After a gap of one month, the delayed post-test for achievement in chemistry was administered to the experimental and the control groups to determine the retention level of the students. The statistical technique used to analyze the obtained research data was the independent sample t-test. The findings of the study indicated that as far as the overall achievement and retention in chemistry is concerned, the (LTM) method of teaching chemistry were much more effective than the traditional method. As for the components of achievement and retention: comprehension, application, and skills in chemistry, the (LTM) method was more effective than the Traditional method except knowledge component. But the component of knowledge in achievement and retention in Traditional method was more effective than (LTM) method in chemistry.

21ERIC EJ1149023: The Effect Of Cooperative Learning Method And Systematic Teaching On Students' Achievement And Retention Of Knowledge In Social Studies Lesson
By ERIC
Problem Statement: Many effective instructional strategies, methods, and techniques, which were developed in accordance with constructivist approach, can be used together in social studies lessons. Constructivist education comprises active learning processes. Two active learning approaches are cooperative learning and systematic teaching. Purpose of the Study: The present study was conducted to determine the effect of the cooperative learning method and the systematic teaching and constructivist learning approaches on student achievement and retention in teaching the social studies lesson unit "The Place We Live" in a 4th grade class at the elementary school level. Method: The research was based on pretest-posttest control group experimental design. Accordingly, experiment group 1 received instruction based on the cooperative learning method, experiment group 2 received instruction based on the systematic teaching method, and control groups 1 and 2 were instructed through the constructivist learning approach. A total of 110 students were assigned to the experiment and control groups, and the paired samples t test and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Findings: The results of the study suggested that the cooperative learning method and the systematic teaching and constructivist learning approaches are effective ways of enhancing students' achievement. Conversely, experiment and control group post test scores were not significantly different from each other. The cooperative learning method and the systematic teaching and constructivist learning approaches (control-1) were found to secure retention of knowledge, but failed to achieve retention of the knowledge among students in control group 2. Conclusion and Recommendations: The study found that cooperative learning and the systematic teaching and constructivist learning approaches were effective in enhancing student achievement and retention in social studies lessons (except for control-2). Based on these results, it is recommended that in order to enhance academic achievement and retention of gains in social studies lessons, the cooperative learning method and systematic teaching can be used in addition to the constructivist learning approach. Moreover, failure of the constructivist learning approach to achieve retention in control group 2 can be based on different reasons. One reason can be the teachers' lack of knowledge about the basic philosophy and steps of constructivist approach. In this context, it is recommended that teachers should have in-service training about the constructivist approach.

22ERIC ED624409: Distance Social Studies Courses In The Pandemic Period With The Experiences Of Teachers The Study Aims To Evaluate How Distance Social Studies Courses Were Conducted During The Pandemic, In Line With Teachers' Experiences. The Semi-structured Interviews Were Conducted With 14 Social Studies Teachers Working In Various Provinces Of Turkey In This Study, Which Was Carried Out With Interpretative Phenomenology Design, One Of The Qualitative Research Methods. The Data Were Evaluated By The Content Analysis Method. The Results Show That Social Studies Teachers Perceive Distance Education As A System That Allows Using Different Materials And Tools, Maintaining Education, Learning Technology, And Eliminating The Need For Time And Place. On The Other Hand, Teachers Expressed Some Limitations Of Distance Education Arising From The Lack Of Internet And Technological Tools. In Addition, The Results Indicated Teachers Mostly Used Direct Instruction And Question-answer Methods For Teaching During The Distance Education Period, EBA, Zoom, And Some Web 2.0 Tools As Educational Technologies, And Tests And Question-answer Methods For Measurement And Evaluation. Finally, Many Problems, Gathered Under The Titles Of "technological-systemic", "communication-coordination", "student", "family, And "other" In The Distance Education Process Were Emphasized. When Examining The Experiences, All Problems Are Seen To Be Related To The Internet Connection, Access To Technological Tools, And How Families Play A Role In Their Children's Education. In This Context, Compared With Other Studies In The Literature, It Is Possible To Say That Teachers Working In Different Branches Also Experienced Similar Problems During The Distance Education Period. Therefore, Innovative Applications That Can Be Developed Will Be Beneficial For All Branches.

The study aims to evaluate how distance social studies courses were conducted during the pandemic, in line with teachers' experiences.

27ERIC EJ903834: Effects Of The Cooperative Class Experiment Teaching Method On Secondary School Students' Chemistry Achievement In Kenya's Nakuru District
By ERIC
Successful teaching and learning of chemistry depends partly on correct use of a teaching method whose activities target most learning senses. Though chemistry enhances students' learning of biology, physics and agriculture on which Kenyan industries and prosperity depend, most secondary school students in Kenya perform poorly on the subject. This study sought to examine how the co-operative class experiment (CCE) teaching methods affect students' achievement. Using a non-equivalent control group design with 521 randomly selected students, the study found that CCE method facilitated students' chemistry learning more than regular methods. Gender did not affect achievement. Neither did school type significantly affect girls' achievement when CCE method was used but it significantly affected boys' achievement with boys in boys' schools attaining higher scores. Since CCE method benefited students irrespective of school type, education authorities should encourage chemistry teachers to use it and teacher educators to make it part of the teacher-training curriculum. (Contains 20 tables and 2 figures.)

32ERIC EJ844479: Student Perceptions Of The Case Method In Educational Psychology And Its Impact On Teaching And Learning
By ERIC
The case method enjoys a long tradition in fields such as medicine, law, and business, but is a relatively novel method in teacher education programs. The current study adds to the growing number of studies examining the effects of case-based instruction on students' cognition, affect, and/or behavior. This study specifically examined students' understanding of the purpose of the case method and the impact of the case method on students' changing views of teaching and learning. Results of survey responses, in-depth interviews, and student essays suggest that students "get" the case method and that students leave the course with a more integrated view of teaching and learning. 34ERIC ED582442: The Effect Of Using Discourse Analysis Method On Improving Cognitive And Affective Skills In Language And Literature Teaching
By ERIC
The aim of this study is to identify the effect of using discourse analysis method on the skills of reading comprehension, textual analysis, creating discourse and use of language. In this study, the authentic test model with pre-test and post-test control group was used in order to determine the difference of academic achievement between experimental group, with which discourse analysis method in literature teaching was used and of control group, where traditional teaching methods used. Moreover, students' opinions and thoughts on the use of discourse analysis method in literature teaching were also gathered. In the analysis of quantitative data, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, frequency, t-test for dependent samples and t-test for independent samples were used. Students' opinions and thoughts on the use of discourse analysis method in language and literature teaching were gathered through video-recording and transcribed to analyze through descriptive and content analysis approaches. The study group of the research consists of 11th grade students of Bilkent Erzurum Laboratory School in 2014-2015 Academic year, 20 (11/A) students of experimental group and 24 (11/B) students of control group. The data of the study were gathered through achievement tests, video-recording, student identification and classroom observation; developed by the researcher in accordance with quantitative and qualitative research techniques. Within this scope, an "achievement test" in order to evaluate students' readiness level; a "student identification form" to get information about students and interview to identify students' opinions on the use of discourse analysis method in literature teaching were conducted. As a result of this study, it can be affirmed that in experimental group, who used discourse analysis method, skills of reading comprehension, textual analysis and use of language were improved in addition to their academic success. When the process of applying discourse analysis method and its findings were examined, it can be concluded that this method helps students to develop their skills of reading comprehension, textual analysis, use of language, critical thinking, evaluative thinking, analysis and synthesis and provides environments in which meaningful and permanent learning can be achieved, can be transferred to and used in other areas. Additionally, it is very effective on students, increases students' active participation in lessons by making lessons more enjoyable, supports personal development of students by contributing to their social and communication skills. Thus, cognitive and affective developments of students were developed, which provides a holistic approach to educational practices.

42ERIC ED527670: An Insider Perspective On Implementing The Harvard Case Study Method In Business Teaching
By ERIC
This paper provides practical guidance on the implementation of the CSM (case study method) using the HBS (Harvard Business School) model. The analysis is based on the first-hand experience of the author as a user and implementer of this mode of instruction. The results are further validated with surveys given to MBA (Master of Business Administration) students and interviews given to HBS faculty members. The idea behind the CSM is to simulate a real case business scenario with the surrounding facts and constraints. As it is the case in the real world, the students operate in an environment in which they assume the role of managers who maneuver under pressure and make decisions with the understanding that their decisions could result in irreversible consequences. Ultimately, the HBS method intends to condition the students to become future managers through the acquisition of a combination of functional skills (e.g., strategic management skills), conceptual skills (e.g., decision-making skills), interpersonal skills (e.g., teamwork skills) and leadership skills (e.g., communication skills). (Contains 3 tables.)

44Research On Classroom Teaching Quality Evaluation Of Chinese International Education In Higher-Education Institutions Based On EDAS Method And Euclidean Distance
By Wei Li, Jia Song, Gangling Liu
In the classroom teaching of Chinese international education (CIE), teachers will face di0erent types of problems. Teachers should focus on each teaching link, identify key and di2cult points, teach students in line with their aptitude, and emphasize communication with students to improve the classroom teaching quality in CIE. The classroom teaching quality evaluation of CIE in higher-education institutions is regarded as multiple-attribute decision-making (MADM). Recently, the EDAS and CRITIC model was employed to put forward the MADM. The double-valued neutrosophic sets (DVNSs) are employed as the optimal decision tool for expressing the uncertain data during the classroom teaching quality evaluation of CIE in higher-education institutions. In this paper, EDAS is founded for MADM under DVNSs. Then, the double-valued neutrosophic number EDAS (DVNN-EDAS) model is constructed for MADM. Finally, a numerical example for classroom teaching quality evaluation of CIE is employed to verify the DVNN-EDAS model. The main contribution of this study is that (1) the novelMADMtechnique is established in line with EDAS and CRITIC under DVNSs. (2) the objective weights are constructed through CRITIC. (3) A numerical example for classroom teaching quality evaluation of CIE in higher-education institutions in line with the DVNN-EDAS is constructed.
