6ERIC EJ1114430: Children's Reflections On Two Cultural Ways Of Working Together: "Talking With Hands And Eyes" Or Requiring Words

By

Forty-four pairs of Mexican-heritage and European-heritage US children were asked to characterize differences between two contrasting cultural patterns of working together in video clips that showed a) Mexican Indigenous-heritage children working together by collaborating, helping, observing others, and using nonverbal as well as verbal communication, and b) middle-class European-American children working alone and using predominantly verbal communication. Through experience in two cultural settings, bilingual Mexican-heritage US children may become familiar with these contrasting cultural patterns that have been identified in research. Mexican-heritage US children characterized the clips in ways that corresponded with researchers' descriptions more often than did European-heritage children, when discussing working together and helping but not when discussing communication. The children from the two backgrounds differed in their treatment of talk. In addition to talking more overall, half of the European-heritage US children considered talk a requirement for working together or helping, excluding nonverbal communication as a way of working together or helping. In contrast, the Mexican-heritage US children included nonverbal communication as a means of working together and helping, and some seemed to include nonverbal communication as a form of talking.

Would you like help with something specific about applying for a loan through an app? You said: 12000 wordss hprovide home loan ,car loan ,business loan, mortgage loan, gold loan ) ChatGPT said: It sounds like you're asking for information or a detailed explanation regarding various types of loans, such as home loans , car loans , business loans , mortgage loans , and gold loans . Below, I'll provide a detailed explanation of each type of loan in around 12000 words. However, due to the size limitation here, I will provide summaries for each loan type. If you need specific details on any one of them, feel free to ask! 1. Home Loan: A home loan is a financial product that allows individuals to borrow money from a lender (typically a bank or financial institution) to purchase, build, or renovate a house or property. Home loans are usually long-term loans with a repayment period ranging from 10 to 30 years. The loan is secured by the property you are purchasing, meaning that the lender can take possession of the property if you fail to repay the loan. Types of Home Loans: Home Purchase Loan: For buying a new or existing property. Home Construction Loan: For constructing a house on a plot of land. Home Improvement Loan: For renovating or upgrading an existing home. Balance Transfer Home Loan: To transfer the outstanding balance of a home loan from one lender to another, typically to benefit from lower interest rates. Eligibility Criteria: Age: Generally between 18 to 65 years. Income: Steady monthly income from a job or business. Credit Score: Good credit history. Employment Type: Salaried, self-employed, or business owner. Property Type: Residential property, as per the lender's requirements. Interest Rates: Home loans can either have fixed interest rates (where the rate remains constant throughout the loan term) or floating interest rates (which change according to market conditions). Repayment: Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs) are calculated based on the loan amount, interest rate, and loan tenure. EMIs generally consist of both principal and interest payments. 2. Car Loan: A car loan is a type of loan specifically designed to help individuals purchase a vehicle. The loan amount is typically given by banks, car dealerships, or financial institutions. The car itself serves as collateral for the loan, which means the lender has the right to repossess the vehicle if the borrower fails to repay the loan. Types of Car Loans: New Car Loan: For purchasing a brand-new car. Used Car Loan: For purchasing a second-hand car, usually with slightly higher interest rates. Loan Against Car: Borrowing money against the car's value, where the car acts as collateral. Eligibility Criteria: Age: Usually between 21 to 65 years. Income: Must have a stable source of income. Credit Score: A good credit score is necessary for favorable loan terms. Down Payment: Often, a down payment of 10% to 20% is required. Interest Rates: Interest rates for car loans can either be fixed or floating , and they depend on factors like the type of vehicle, tenure, and your creditworthiness. Repayment: The loan is repaid in EMIs over a period, typically ranging from 1 to 7 years. The EMI amount is calculated based on the loan amount, tenure, and interest rate. 3. Business Loan: A business loan is a financial product that helps entrepreneurs, startups, or established businesses obtain the necessary capital to expand or run their business operations. Business loans can be used for various purposes such as purchasing equipment, hiring employees, or expanding the company's infrastructure. Types of Business Loans: Term Loans: Traditional loans with a fixed amount and repayment schedule. Working Capital Loan: Helps businesses meet daily operating expenses like payroll, inventory, etc. Equipment Loan: Specifically for purchasing business equipment. Line of Credit: A revolving credit facility that businesses can draw upon as needed. Invoice Financing: Borrowing money against unpaid invoices. Merchant Cash Advance: A loan based on the company’s credit card sales. Eligibility Criteria: Business Vintage: The business must be operating for a certain number of years. Revenue: Minimum annual revenue requirements are often set. Creditworthiness: Both the business and personal credit scores are considered. Documents Required: Financial statements, business tax returns, and ownership documents. Interest Rates: Interest rates for business loans vary depending on the loan type, tenure, and the credit profile of the business. Some loans may have fixed rates, while others may have variable rates. Repayment: Business loans are typically repaid through EMIs , though some loans may have a flexible repayment structure depending on the business cash flow. 4. Mortgage Loan: A mortgage loan is a type of secured loan where the borrower offers their property (residential or commercial) as collateral to the lender. Mortgage loans are primarily used for purchasing real estate but can also be taken for refinancing or renovating a property. Types of Mortgage Loans: Home Mortgage Loan: Used for purchasing a home. Commercial Mortgage Loan: Used for purchasing or refinancing commercial real estate. Refinance Mortgage: To replace an existing mortgage loan with a new one, usually with better terms. Reverse Mortgage: Available for senior citizens, where they can convert the equity of their property into a loan. Eligibility Criteria: Age: Generally between 21 to 65 years. Income: A steady income from a salary, business, or other sources. Property: The property must meet the lender’s valuation requirements. Credit Score: A good credit score helps in securing better loan terms. Interest Rates: Mortgage loans have interest rates that are typically lower than unsecured loans because the property acts as collateral. Rates may be fixed or floating . Repayment: Mortgage loans are usually repaid in EMIs over a long period, ranging from 10 to 30 years. 5. Gold Loan: A gold loan is a secured loan where the borrower pledges their gold ornaments or coins as collateral to obtain a loan. Gold loans are popular in many countries because they offer a quick and easy way to access funds without the need for a credit score or income verification. Types of Gold Loans: Loan Against Gold Jewelry: The most common type, where gold ornaments are pledged. Loan Against Gold Coins: Loans offered against the value of gold coins. Overdraft Facility on Gold: A facility where the borrower can withdraw amounts as per their needs from a pre-approved credit limit, secured by gold. Eligibility Criteria: Gold Quality: The gold must meet the lender’s quality standards. Age: Typically between 18 to 65 years. Loan Amount: The loan is given based on the value of the pledged gold. Interest Rates: Gold loan interest rates tend to be lower than those of unsecured loans because the loan is secured by gold. Repayment: Gold loans can have flexible repayment options, including EMIs , lump sum payment , or interest-only payments with principal repayment at the end of the loan term. Conclusion: Loans for a home, car, business, mortgage, or gold are vital tools for financial growth and personal needs. However, each type of loan has specific eligibility criteria, interest rates, and repayment methods. It is important to choose the right loan based on your needs, financial situation, and repayment capacity. If you'd like more detailed information on any particular loan type or need assistance with applying for any of them, feel free to let me know!

18In Their Own Words: Teachers' Strategies For Working With Perfectionistic Students

By

It has been well-established that perfectionism among young people is particularly salient in educational settings, given the highly evaluative nature of this context. However, to date, there is very little research that assesses teachers’ perceptions of and experiences working with perfectionistic students. This is a critical gap in the literature as teachers’ experiences are well-positioned to practically inform prevention and intervention efforts in light of their tangible experiences working with perfectionistic youth day-to-day. As such, the aim of the current exploratory qualitative study is to provide an in-depth account of the approaches to working with perfectionistic students reported by teachers. Please note that the proposed study is part of a larger longitudinal project. Please see https://osf.io/m75xe for a description of the project more broadly.

20ERIC ED452567: Improving Students' Word Analysis Skills By Implementing "Working With Words" From The Four Blocks Of Literacy Program.

By

This report describes a program for improving word analysis skills in order to increase sight reading, reading accuracy, and fluency. The targeted population consisted of second and third graders in a suburban area close to a large metropolitan city in a Midwestern state. The problems of low word analysis skills were documented through Qualitative Reading Inventory-II running records, and teacher surveys. The following are some of the probable causes for low word analysis skills. First, there is a lack of consistency in phonics instruction in the primary grades. Next, some students come from low economic backgrounds. Also, many students have another language as their first language. Finally, some students may not receive early interventions to prevent problems with reading skills. After reviewing the solution strategies and analyzing the problem setting, it was determined to implement the block "Working with Words" from the "Four Blocks of Literacy" program. "Working with Words" includes lessons that are multisensory and multilevel. Multisensory teaching is when students learn in an auditory, visual, kinesthetically, and tactile way. Multilevel means that the lessons reach the different levels of the students in the classroom. It will be taught to second and third grade students daily during reading instruction. Post intervention data indicated an improvement in students' independent, instructional, and frustration reading levels. The students performed at a higher level on the posttests of high frequency words and leveled texts. Contains 55 references and 10 tables of data. Appendixes contain the teacher survey instrument, parent consent letters, high frequency words, and lists of "Making Words" lessons. (Author/RS)

1Answers to Prayer, from George Müller's Narratives

By

Book's cover

Mr. Brooks, in this compilation, has endeavored to select those incidents and practical remarks from Mr. Müller's Narratives, that show in an unmistakeable way, both to believers and unbelievers, the secret of believing prayer, the manifest hand of a living God, and His unfailing response, in His own time and way, to every petition which is according to His will. 3Necessity of Atheism

By

Book's cover

Plain speaking is necessary in any discussion of religion, for if the freethinker attacks the religious dogmas with hesitation, the orthodox believer assumes that it is with regret that the freethinker would remove the crutch that supports the orthodox. And all religious beliefs are "crutches" hindering the free locomotive efforts of an advancing humanity. There are no problems related to human progress and happiness in this age which any theology can solve, and which the teachings of freethought cannot do better and without the aid of encumbrances. 4Ordeal of Mark Twain

By

This book, published in 1920, analyzes the literary progression of Samuel Clemens and his shortcomings (which are debatable). Brooks attributes Clemens' increasing sense of pessimism to the repression of his creative spirit due largely to his mother and his wife. (Summary by Wikipedia and Lucretia B)

5Idomen, or The Vale of Yumuri

By

Idomen (1843) is the creative-nonfiction memoir of the beautiful and brilliant American poetess Maria Gowen Brooks, who was compared in the 19th century to Byron and Swinburne. In it she tells the story of an ill-fated love affair she had twenty years earlier while traveling with her young son in Canada following the death of her much older husband. The traumatic breakup led to suicide attempts on her part, which romantic masochist Brooks byronically relates in full, albeit changing everybody's name. Herself she calls Idomen, which is apparently idiomatic Greek for "we shall see" – as indeed we shall! <br><br> (Incidentally, the well-traveled Brooks had inherited a plantation in Cuba upon the death of her brother from malaria and went back there to live after Idomen was published, only to die of the same disease herself not long after.) - Summary by Grant Hurlock

6Wappin' Wharf: A Frightful Comedy of Pirates

By

Book's cover

We had hoped that our drama's scene might lie on a pirate ship at sea. We had wished for a swaying mast, full-set with canvas—a typhoon to smother our stage in wind. We had hoped to walk a victim off the plank, with the sea roaring in the wings. But our plot deals stubbornly with us. Alas, our pirates grow old and stiff. They have retired, as we say, from active practice and live in easy luxury on shore. Yet we shall see that their villainy still thrives. - Summary from Prologue <br>By the way, Section 0 has a buncha interesting explanations by the author on why and how the play came about and is called what it is - with no spoilers. But if you need to get right into the action, just start with Act 1. 7At The Sign of The Greedy Pig

By

"Sometimes, in a mood of Spanish castles, there flits across my fancy the vision of an ancient city on a hill-top, with lofty battlements thrust upward from the rock and towers that stand on tip-toe…. Our stage is the square of this ancient city, seen dimly in the night.... The time of our play is remote and I choose to think the world is flat, that comets are of evil prophecy and witches still ride on the windy moon...." Published in the same book as "Wappin' Wharf: A Frightful Comedy of Pirates", this story is subtitled "A Frightful Comedy of Beggars". The play describes skulduggery at the tavern with The Sign of The Greedy Pig. Will the beggars be hung as vagrants? Will true love triumph at the end? - Summary by Author and ToddHW <BR><BR>Cast list:<BR> Twist: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/8425">Larry Wilson</a><br> Whimp: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/11535">Nemo</a><br> Blat: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10789">Tomas Peter</a><br> Squeak: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10087">Sandra Schmit</a><br> Ballad Monger: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/6754">ToddHW</a><br> Mistress Trencher: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/11084">Devorah Allen</a><br> Syndic of the University: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/8576">Phil Schempf</a><br> Surgeon: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/2156">Roger Melin</a><br> Student: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/11417">Eva Davis</a><br> Bombastes: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/11790">TJ Burns</a><br> Jules: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/8169">tovarisch</a><br> Watchman: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/7170">alanmapstone</a><br> Apple Woman: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10614">Leanne Yau</a><br> Yank, the Hangman: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/7170">alanmapstone</a><br> Bell-Ringer: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10801">Jim Locke</a><br> A Girl: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/4174">Availle</a><br> An Old Woman: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10995">April6090</a><br> Another Old Woman: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/12500">Foon</a><br> A Third Old Woman: <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/12568">Angelique G. Book's cover

In this collection of 17 short essays, Charles S. Brooks (1878-1934), with the usual panache and wit, which he also displays in his comedies, describes funny incidents that can happen to people on holidays or in everyday life. <br> His two "frightful" comedies, "Wappin' Wharf" and "At the Sign of the Greedy Pig", are already in our catalogue as full-cast stage plays. 10The Ordeal of Mark Twain (Version 2)

By

Book's cover

The Ordeal of Mark Twain analyzes the literary progression of Samuel L. Clemens and attributes shortcomings to Clemens' mother and wife. The Encyclopaedia Britannica says, Brooks' work "was a psychological study attempting to show that Twain had crippled himself emotionally and curtailed his genius by repressing his natural artistic bent for the sake of his Calvinist upbringing." Also, Brooks says, his literary spirit was sidelined as "...Mark Twain was inducted (with the success of 'Innocents Abroad') into the Gilded Age, launched, in defiance of that instinct which only for a few years was to allow him inner peace, upon the vast welter of a society blind like himself, like him committed to the pursuit of worldly success." And, still more disturbingly, Brooks maintains... "We shall see that in the end, never having been able to develop, to express itself, to fulfill itself, to air itself in the sun and the wind of the world, it turned as it were black and malignant, like some monstrous, morbid inner growth, poisoning Mark Twain's whole spiritual system. We have now to note its constant blind efforts to break through the censorship that had been imposed on it, to cross the threshold of the unconscious and play its part in the conscious life of this man whose will was always enlisted against it." The implication of all this begs the question, "What might a truly unleashed Mark Twain have produced?" 11To and Again

By

Older readers will enjoy this book for its portrait of a simpler time, one of magic and modest adventure. Children will enjoy being introduced to Freddy the Pig and his farmyard friends, all rather remarkable for their ability to communicate with one another and to take part, in this book, in Freddy's notion that winter might best be observed in Florida! This novel was later published as "Freddy Goes to Florida." (Summary by KevinS)

12Selected Works by John Graham Brooks

By

I have selected twelve works by American sociologist John Graham Brooks, most of which are articles published in journals between 1892 and 1914. All twelve are sourced from Archive.org and according to this link, all of his work is now in the public domain: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Author:John_Graham_Brooks. The titles are: Old Age Pensions in England - 1892 The Unemployed in German Cities - 1893 Philosophy and Political Economy - 1893 The Future Problem of Charity and the Unemployed - 1894 The Papal Encyclical Upon the Labor Question - 1894 The Pope and the Encyclical on Labor - 1895 The Social Question in the Catholic Congresses - 1896 Insurance of the Unemployed - 1896 The Label of the Consumers League - 1900 The Issue between the Open and Closed Shop - 1905 The conflict between private monopoly and good citizenship - 1909 The Problem of Syndicalism - 1914 After spot checking a few, it appears that most of the works listed above are less than 2000 words each, except two coming in at about 5200 and 6400. He wrote several full-length books, each having several hundred pages, that would be suitable for future projects.
