1Evaluating Factors Affecting The Satisfaction Of War Tourists In Iran To Make Sustainable Decisions About The Parameters Influencing The Quality Of Travel Using The Quality Function Deployment Method

Purpose:  The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the factors affecting the satisfaction of those present in war tourism trips that visit the operational areas of the holy defense in the south of the country in the form of travels of the Path of Light in order to adjust the effective factors in accordance with these findings. On quality, he made sustainable decisions. Methodology:  In the first phase of this study, interviews were used to identify factors affecting visitor satisfaction and factors affecting travel quality. The identified factors affecting visitor satisfaction have been validated using a questionnaire distribution and factor analysis, and finally, based on these criteria and using a performance expansion matrix, the factors affecting the quality of these trips have been ranked. Findings:  This study, while identifying a list of factors affecting the satisfaction of tourists and measures affecting the quality of travel, showed that as the most important factor affecting the satisfaction of tourists, they tend to have more access to entertainment and leisure in order to enjoy more. The involvement of most other institutions and organizations and the use of their subtleties was also identified as the most important qualitative factor influencing the research. Originality/Value:  The issue of quality management in tourism still needs more scientific attention. The use of quality science development method has been able to translate the call of visitors as war tourism customers to understandable concepts for the relevant organizations and help them make appropriate decisions and remain faithful to their decision.

Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Capture (RPOC) is a missions operations area which is extremely important to present and future space initiatives and must be well planned and coordinated. To support this, a study team was formed to identify a specific plan of action using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) process. This team was composed of members from a wide spectrum of engineering and operations organizations which are involved in the RPOC technology area. The key to this study's success is an understanding of the needs of potential programmatic customers and the technology base available for system implementation. To this end, the study team conducted interviews with a variety of near term and future programmatic customers and technology development sponsors. The QFD activity led to a thorough understanding of the needs of these customers in the RPOC area, as well as the relative importance of these needs.

According to the Internet World Stats (2010), the growth rate of internet usage in the world is 444.8 % from 2000 to 2010. Since the number of internet users is rapidly increasing with each passed year, e-learning is often identified with web-based learning. The institutions, which deliver e-learning service via the use of computer and internet, are responsible to choose the most suitable e-learning service provider for effective distance education. The purpose of this research is to identify the e-learning design requirements and to select the most suitable e-learning service provider. In this research, fuzzy logic-based Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was employed. A questionnaire was conducted in order to collect the data from a group of experts who were selected on the basis of their knowledge and expertise in related industry. By using the Converting Fuzzy data into Crisp Scores (CFCS) technique, the collected data was defuzzified. Then, the critical success factors of e-learning service providers were identified. As a result, fuzzy logic-based QFD was utilized for the selection of the e-learning service providers. (Contains 2 figures and 5 tables.)

5Incorporating Customer Requirements In Designing Academic Graduate Program: A Case Of Using Quality Function Deployment

Course design is an important component in the success of academic programs. Design and execution of the academic programs according to the industry lead to the career success of university graduates. This study narrates the process through which the academic program Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MS-SCM) was designed by a university in Pakistan based on customer demands, considering prospective employers as customers. In order to convert customer requirements into program courses, the technique of “Quality Function Deployment” (QFD) was used. The “House of Quality” (HOQ) was used to translate the customer requirements into courses to be offered in the program. A small-scale survey of the managers involved in the recruitment of new graduates in their respective supply chain related departments from a variety of organizations was conducted in order to learn about the voice of customer. Based on the demands of the managers, courses with suitable content were identified that meet the requirements of potential employers. This study shows how by using QFD, providers of higher education can customize their academic programs to meet the requirements of the customers.

The goal of the Advanced Launch System (ALS) is a more efficient launch capability that provides a highly reliable and operable system at substantially lower cost than current launch systems. Total Quality Management (TQM) principles are being emphasized throughout the ALS program. A continuous improvement philosophy is directed toward satisfying users' and customer's requirements in terms of quality, performance, schedule, and cost. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is interpreted as the voice of the customer (or user), and it is an important planning tool in translating these requirements throughout the whole process of design, development, manufacture, and operations. this report explores the application of QFD methodology to launch operations, including the modification and addition of events (operations planning) in the engineering development cycle, and presents an informal status of study results to date. QFD is a technique for systematically analyzing the customer's (Space Command) perceptions of what constitutes a highly reliable and operable system and functionally breaking down those attributes to identify the critical characteristics that determine an efficient launch system capability. In applying the principle of QFD, a series of matrices or charts are developed with emphasis on the one commonly known as the House of Quality (because of its roof-like format), which identifies and translates the most critical information. There are four key types of charts or phases that are developed during the QFD process: product planning, part deployment, process planning, and production planning. QFD is a team process.

The objectives of the thesis were to determine whether the methods of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) could be used in the software development environment within the USAF, and whether or not this area should be researched further. The research was limited to the requirements analysis and definition phase. The different areas of study included a brief review of the structured analysis methodology, a detailed review of the QFD models currently being used in the product industries, a review of how QFD fits into the software development cycle, and specific software modifications to the QFD methodology. A review of some applications of software QFD (SQFD) is also performed. A sample problem consisting of an Automated Teller Machine is developed in detail using the SQFD methods identified. A subjective survey was conducted of a small sample of USAF software experts to determine the suitability of SQFD for USAF use based on the sample problem. The results of the thesis show that QFD can be adapted to software development. SQFD also shows potential to save both time and money for the USAF. Consideration must be given to the sample size and nature of the survey when interpreting the results of this research.

This thesis extends the Computer Aided Software Evolution System (CASES) with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to enhance dependency traceability (type and degree) between software development artifacts. Embedding Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in the Relational Hypergraph Software Evolution Model to prototype a Holistic Framework for Software Engineering (HESE) is the major task achieved by this thesis. CASES is implemented by using Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.3.1 and an open software architecture. The primary contributions of this research include: (1) Embedding QFD into CASES to record and track artifact dependencies, (2) Providing engineering views of QFD dependencies, and (3) Providing a stakeholder Graphical User Interface (GUI) to define and manage any software evolution process. These major contributions allow a software engineer to: (1) Input, modify, and analyze dependency characteristics between software artifacts within a QFD framework; (2) Make decisions based upon views of dependency information; and (3) Design a custom software evolution model through the use of a GUI.

The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the use of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) as a management tool to benefit US Army Corps of Engineers' project managers. The United States Army Corps of Engineers is one of the largest construction management organizations in the world, annually performing over 3.5 billion dollars worth of work. The project manager has primary responsibility within the Corps to ensure the design both fulfills user's requirements and is prepared correctly, and that quality control/assurance procedures are correctly administered. QFD was developed by the Japanese in 1972 to improve quality and lower costs in industrial and business related fields, by assuring all of a company's operational decisions are driven by customer needs. It uses a set of matrices to relate customers wants and needs with project specifications and requirements. Through this process, shortcomings, redundancies, or conflicts in specifications are identified and resolved. Critical material requirements and construction processes are identified, allowing the user to focus the project delivery system on fulfilling customer requirements. The scope of this research is limited to development of a procedure for integrating QFD into the Corps of Engineers' design/construction delivery process. The procedure was applied to a Corps' construction project to evaluate its feasibility for contributing to the delivery process. QFD assists project managers to clearly identify and prioritize customer requirements in development of the conceptual and final design. It is best suited to projects involving repetition of units or when higher-than-average quality is demanded. Managers are able to make better informed decisions made during the delivery process, resulting in a better customer satisfaction.

12ERIC ED374510: A Quality Function Deployment Analysis Of Customer Needs For Meeting School Improvement Goals: The Voice Of The School Principal.

In providing leadership for school improvement teams, principals must employ group communication and decision-making skills. In this study, a planning procedure called Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was modified for use with school-based administrators. Teams of school leaders used QFD to generate the top priority needs of school customers (students, parents, and teachers) for school improvement goals. Burton and Merrill's taxonomy of needs sources and Kaufman's Organizational Elements Model were used to classify and analyze the perceived needs identified by the principals. Results indicated that school leaders were adept at using the QFD process and that assuming the customer's perspective enabled principals to identify needs beyond those typically identified for school improvement. Several patterns of needs were observed across the categories of the Burton and Merrill and the Kaufman systems, suggesting that both analysis procedures can provide school improvement teams with valuable insights for their needs analysis and eventual needs assessment activities. The emphasis on students' personal needs and teachers' professional needs serves to remind educators of their highest priorities. Burton and Merrill's taxonomy of needs sources and Kaufman's Organizational Elements Model were used to classify and analyze the perceived needs identified by the principals. Results indicated that school leaders were adept at using the QFD process and that assuming the customer's perspective enabled principals to identify needs beyond those typically identified for school improvement. Several patterns of needs were observed across the categories of the Burton and Merrill and the Kaufman systems, suggesting that both analysis procedures can provide school improvement teams with valuable insights for their needs analysis and eventual needs assessment activities. The emphasis on students' personal needs and teachers' professional needs serves to remind educators of their highest priorities. 15Evaluating Factors Affecting The Satisfaction Of War Tourists In Iran To Make Sustainable Decisions About The Parameters Influencing The Quality Of Travel Using The Quality Function Deployment Method

Purpose:  This study aims to identify and analyze the factors affecting the satisfaction of war tourists visiting the operational areas of the holy defense in the south of the country through travels of the Path of Light. Methodology:  In the first phase of this study, interviews were used to identify factors affecting visitor satisfaction and travel quality. The identified factors affecting visitor satisfaction have been validated using a questionnaire distribution and factor analysis, and finally, based on these criteria and using a performance expansion matrix, the factors affecting the quality of these trips have been ranked. Findings:  While identifying a list of factors affecting the satisfaction of tourists and measures affecting the quality of travel, this study showed that the most crucial factor affecting the satisfaction of tourists is that they tend to have more access to entertainment and leisure to enjoy more. The involvement of most other institutions and organizations and the use of their subtleties were also identified as the most critical qualitative factors influencing the research. Originality/Value:  The issue of quality management in tourism still needs more scientific attention. Quality science development methods have been able to translate the call of visitors as war tourism customers to understandable concepts for the relevant organizations and help them make appropriate decisions and remain faithful to their choices.

This paper will describe a Quality Function Deployment (QFD) currently in work the goal of which is to add definition and insight to the development of long term Highly Reusable Space Transportation (HRST). The objective here is twofold. First, to describe the process, the actual QFD experience as applies to the HRST study. Second, to describe the preliminary results of this process, in particular the assessment of possible directions for future pursuit such as promising candidate technologies or approaches that may finally open the space frontier. The iterative and synergistic nature of QFD provides opportunities in the process for the discovery of what is key in so far as it is useful, what is not, and what is merely true. Key observations on the QFD process will be presented. The importance of a customer definition as well as the similarity of the process of developing a technology portfolio to product development will be shown. Also, the relation of identified cost and operating drivers to future space vehicle designs that are robust to an uncertain future will be discussed. The results in particular of this HRST evaluation will be preliminary given the somewhat long term (or perhaps not?) nature of the task being considered.

— Nowadays, manufacturing organizations face with increasing pressures from the frequent changes in product type, continuous demand fluctuations and unexpected changes in customer requirements. In order to survive in this turbulent environment, manufacturing organizations must become flexible and responsive to these dynamic changes in the business environment. In this research, this papers has reviewed the current literature in the area of pull-oriented product systems and has suggested a novel framework for a pull-oriented product development system compatible with today's manufacturing environments. In the proposed framework, using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) 4-stage matrix, a framework for product development has been proposed. The paper has used four general processes for products assembly. The framework provides capabilities for customer order analyze by a decision support system for order acceptance/rejection decision. Moreover, the accepted orders are prioritized into high and low priority orders, considering profitability of orders and a proposed assemble-to-order (ATO) production system for pull-oriented environments will handle the orders' fulfilment. The validity of proposed framework has been investigated by process analysis and simulating a scenario. Based on that, sector spare part need improvement to increase the sales and quality of spare part to gain trust of customer for buy spare part original and not buy spare part not original. Improvement will focus for packing this is because packing is one of element which can be increased sales and the difficulty to make improvements in a short time and with low investment in the field of production. QFD will be used to find best improvements for packing. Planning improvement for packing such as change material carton box (flute), redesigning, adding barcodes and hologram stickers. Results Use QFD for packaging repair. Customers are more focused on unboxing easy packing with a value of 249.5 points from 40% and substitute solid material packaging with 135 pints with 22% of QFD Technical priorities. With the following results customers prefer secure packing compared with interesting packing.

E-learning has become an important aspect of university education. System evaluation must be carried out by higher education management to identify the number of e-learning successes and future improvement efforts. Three research methodologies were used in this study to measure, classify, and translate service quality into an improvement process, namely SERVQUAL, Kano model, and quality functional deployment (QFD). A survey involving 219 UPN “Veteran” Jakarta students as e-learning users were done to examine the developed methodology. The partial least square (PLS) method was used to process the data. This study employed the quantitative method. Website content, assurance, empathy, responsiveness, tangibles, reliability, and learning content are variables in this approach. This study provided knowledge on identifying and analyzing the quality of e-learning services using the service quality (SERVQUAL) method by calculating the score gap between the perceived service quality assessment (performance) and the expected service quality using website content, assurance, empathy research variables, responsiveness, tangibles, reliability, learning content, e-learning quality, satisfaction, and behavioral intention. This study also evaluates what improvements can be made to improve the quality of e-learning services.

Business schools are globally often seen as structured, purpose-driven, multi-sector and multi-perspective organisations. This article is based on the response of a graduate school to an innovative industrial Quality Function Deployment-based model (QFD), which was to be adopted initially in a Master's degree programme for quality assurance purposes. The approach is based on the premise that individuals ought to take responsibility for the quality of their own work. A structured qualitative case study approach was used with the deployment of one-on-one and focus group interviews, document analysis, and observations. Convenient sampling assisted in reaching 27 respondents (five from the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, eight academics and university managers and 14 students and alumni), documents and facilities that had the most pertinent information on the research focus. A validation study was used to test the value of the research findings to business and the practice of quality assurance. The main findings of the study attest to the feasibility of QFD as an assessment and quality assurance tool in higher education, and as a compact and holistic model for quality assurance that subsumes the many fragmented models available. QFD appears to supersede most models, where it compounds the market, social and management dimensions in terms of quality. In addition, Six Sigma Road Mapping can be linked to QFD to balance the quality requirements in terms of planned quality, offered quality and expected quality.

Of special concern is how Air Combat Command (ACC) uses QFD for the Modernization Planning Process (MPP). ACC digresses from the traditional use of QFD for incorporating quality into manufacturing processes to use it as a planning tool. ACC's goal in implementing QFD is to incorporate the demands of the Air Force mission into the modernization planning effort. ACC's use of QFD to identify and quantify current deficiencies and quantify the value of alternative future solutions has led to the investigation of inconsistencies with QFD, both generally and with how ACC employs it. In short, the purpose of this thesis is to improve ACC's current method for optimizing combat capability through both near-term and far-term modifications.

26ERIC EJ1083530: A Conceptual Analysis Of Quality In Quality Function Deployment-Based Contexts Of Higher Education

The purpose of this paper is to assess and evaluate how higher education institutions (HEIs) using Quality Function Deployment draw out the relevancy and potential of the model in shaping their concept of "Quality" and how that Quality can be assured in higher education institutions' (HEIs') programmes. An intensive literature review was undertaken with the idea of building a repertoire of behaviours that capture what HEIs perceive as QFD, why its migration into higher education has increased over the years and how HEIs are working the QFD model. This critical analysis densifies our potential to read and understand related literature and assess the potential of QFD in higher education. It should also help us evaluate the worth of (dis)encouraging the adoption and diffusion of QFD or its tools within higher education. Conceptualising Quality in terms of the amount of transformation in the knowledge-base, attitudes, skills-set, understanding, belief systems and behaviour of the student should challenge our thinking about designing educative experiences and environments that create a "fit-for-purpose" graduate. Higher education has globally struggled with the gaps between expected Quality and the Quality offered in their various programmes. This paper show the need for research on how HEIs should close gaps among the voices of their constituencies and on how to align hypothesised, planned, and offered Quality to expected Quality.

30Extending The Computer-aided Software Evolution System (CASES) With Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

This thesis extends the Computer Aided Software Evolution System (CASES) with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to enhance dependency traceability (type and degree) between software development artifacts. Embedding Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in the Relational Hypergraph Software Evolution Model to prototype a Holistic Framework for Software Engineering (HFSE) is the major task achieved by this thesis. CASES is implemented by using Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.3.1 and an open software architecture. The primary contributions of this research include: 1) Embedding QFD into CASES to record and track artifact dependencies, 2) Providing engineering views of QFD dependencies, and 3) Providing a stakeholder Graphical User Interface (GUI) to define and manage any software evolution process. These major contributions allow a software engineer to: 1) Input, modify, and analyze dependency characteristics between software artifacts within a QFD framework; 2) Make decisions based upon views of dependency information; and 3) Design a custom software evolution model through the use of a GUI.
