This study investigates the availability and awareness of intellectual property rights of electronic material and resources at Saudi universities and reports students and instructors' views of the infringements of intellectual property, reasons for infringements, and misconceptions of proper use.

The ninth grade unit of the FICSS series (Focus on Inner City Social Studies -- see SO 008 271) studies the economic and political realities of the inner city. This document, the first unit of the 9th grade section, deals with the ecological crises involving pollution and its causes. Specific problems include air pollution, pesticides, herbicides, water pollution, and population control. The unit provides both facts and scope of the crises and direction for positive action by citizens of all ages to aid in correcting the problems. Many of the learning activities in the unit will build skills in chart and graph reading as well as in interpreting pictorial data. Students also learn to utilize library sources and gather and interpret facts from field trips and interviews in an effort to understand their own immediate environment. Specific teaching procedures and strategies and knowledge, skill, and behavioral objectives are outlined to aid the teacher in developing the concepts of the unit. An exploration of sources of gang activity in an urban area used ethnographic research with researchers posing as mathematics tutors for 1 year in a school comprising seventh and eighth grades. The "tutors" attended six eighth grade mathematics classes and acted as assistants to the teacher. The classes of 25 to 30 students lasted 40 minutes and were held at a majority black, neighborhood school. The researchers took field notes recording what happened in class focusing primarily on students' interactions with one another and with the teacher and other school employees. An analysis of these observations found that the educational goals of providing knowledge and assessing its transmission were undermined by the following factors: (1) the lack of predictability of schedule and class work from one day to the next; (2) the failure to monitor students' progress; (3) the failure of students to master material taught in previous grades; (4) the rate of student absenteeism from class; and (5) the amount of class time devoted to administrative activities. Observations also indicate that correcting these problems requires three steps: accurate assessment of each student at the beginning of the year, individualized instruction, and careful monitoring of each student's progress in order to provide feedback. The ultimate judgment in book selection for classroom use must rest with the teacher who should be able to defend his choices on the basis of literary and moral values. Censorship occurs whenever such choices are thwarted by the community. To deal effectively with censorship, the English teacher should know (1) that rational men throughout history have defended censorship on moral, political, and philosophical grounds; (2) that although many censors defend their own judgments emotionally, other censors are philosophical and rational; (3) that censorship is objectionable and the necessity for it unconfirmed; and (4) that goals in teaching literature are enjoyment, understanding, knowledge about contrasting values, and appreciation of art. English departments should establish book selection committees, demand professionalism from their members, inform the public about policies, devise a procedure for handling censorship cases, and remain calm when the censor appears. The solid waste problem is so pervasive that it can no longer be ignored. The purpose of this set of materials is to encourage a lifestyle that includes the use of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It was designed to educate upper elementary and junior high school students who may educate their classmates, families, and community about the solid waste issue, its causes and solutions. The curriculum may be adapted to a variety of school grade levels. This curriculum is divided into four main sessions. Session I defines the solid waste problem; session II provides an investigation of the underlying causes of the waste problem; session III examines waste in people's lives; and session IV encourages solutions. Background information is provided for each, followed by a detailed description of the activities used in the 2-hour classroom presentations. Interdisciplinary follow-up activities are suggested. Worksheets and hand-outs are found at the end of each chapter. Additional information, including a pre/post survey, the role of the teacher and volunteers, a booklet to send to families, a sample letter, and how to organize a school recycling program and a trash festival are found in the appendices. The term "ipsative" refers to measurement based on intra-individual comparisons. The research literature in the social sciences contains many cautions about using ipsative data in multivariate analysis. The purpose of this paper is to identify the problems associated with the multivariate and regression analyses of ipsative data and to provide recommendations for avoiding these problems. Ipsative scales have been mainly employed by researchers in the area of personality measurement, vocational choice, and the assessment of values and attitudes where the scale values are interrelated. Due to this interrelatedness of the scales, many problems can arise when multivariate and/or regression analysis procedures are used to analyze the data obtained from ipsative measurement. Such an analysis would produce a singular correlation or covariance matrix that cannot be inverted. The results of the analysis can be inflated or deflated relationships that are artifacts of the forced distributions. While counselors, clinical psychologists, and other clinicans may have valid uses for ipsative measures, these same measures may not be appropriate for research purposes where multivariate and regression analyses are used. This study recommends that multivariate or regression analysis should not be performed on data obtained with ipsative measurement. Other alternatives are to use normative rather than ipsative measurement, or to reduce the interrelatedness of the scales by deleting one of the ipsative scales or adding a normative scale. (JAZ)

Presented are more than 300 problems of varying difficulty along with answers and solutions. These problems were initially given to participants in mathematics contests among high school students. With each problem a time factor is included as well as a percentage of participants who successfully solved that problem. (CT)

In the research, survey model has been used among the descriptive research methods in which quantitative and qualitative data have been used together. The sample of the research consists of science teachers (n = 208) and classroom teachers who deliver science courses (n = 104) in Manisa province. A questionnaire form and a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers have been used as data collection tools. For quantitative data, percentage and frequency values have been analysed and for qualitative data, content analysis have been performed. As a result of the analyses the problems encountered in the implementation of the curriculum have been examined in three different categories namely; teacher-related problems, curriculum-related problems and other problems. According to the results of the questionnaire, most of the teachers think that they confront with problems because they do not see themselves sufficient in terms of designing/evaluating a project, designing an experiment and creating an activity. In terms of the program, the majority of teachers think that they encounter with problems as there is not enough information about the implementation of the inquiry-based learning approach and not enough examples and explanations for the learning outcomes. In addition, nearly half of the teachers state that they have problems with the use of alternative assessment tools and techniques in the program. Regarding other problems; the insufficient content of the course book, lack of materials, lack of adequate support from parents, and technological inadequacies are among the problems most of the teachers have experienced. Similarly, when the results of interviews have been examined; materials, laboratories, and the inadequacy of the course book are among the most frequently mentioned problems. When the survey results of teachers' suggestions for solution have been examined; putting more emphasis on teachers' views in the process of curriculum development, revision of curricula of education faculties oriented to the changes in curriculum, preparation of flexible curricula according to students' needs, improvement of technological infrastructure of schools and classes, preparation of guidebooks for teachers, raising the knowledge levels of parents about the instruction program, providing an in-service training for designing experiments/projects are among the most frequently selected recommendations from teachers. When the interview results have been examined, it has been seen that most of the suggestions are about increasing the number and quality of in-service trainings and increasing the quality of laboratory and material facilities and textbooks. Since the newly announced science curriculum will be gradually implemented as of 2017-2018 academic year, it is expected that the results of the study will contribute to the field in terms of the problems and solution suggestions for the current curriculum, the program development and update studies, the contents of in-service trainings and comparison of the curricula.

The U.S. Marine Corps is replacing its A-6E TRAM aircraft with the two seat F/A-18D. With the exception of the F-15E \"Strike Eagle\", never has a tactical aircraft been capable of processing such vast amounts of multi-mission data and displaying that fighter/attack information to the aircrew. These vast capabilities have led to some problems in the area of F/A-18D aircrew coordination. This thesis will review communication flows and tasking procedures that exist in many Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS) to develop guidelines that are applicable to tactical aircraft aircrew coordination procedures. These guidelines will then be applied to combat mission essential F/A-18D cockpit communication and tasking procedures that should be executed during various scenarios. Additionally, simulator flight profiles will be postulated to test, evaluate and verify these procedures. This study provides a framework on combat procedures that will not only benefit the Marine Corps' F/A- 18D community, but as they start bringing into their inventory the two seat F/A-18E/F, the U.S. Navy as well.

This article is from Frontiers in Human Neuroscience , volume 7 . Abstract Perspective taking plays an important role in different areas of psychological and neuroscientific research. Visual perspective taking is an especially prominent approach generally using one of two experimental tasks: in the own-body-transformation task observers are asked to judge the laterality of a salient feature of a human figure (e.g., is the glove on the left or right hand?) from the figure’s perspective. In the avatar-in-scene task they decide about the laterality of objects in a scene (e.g., is the flower on the left or right?) from the avatar’s point of view. Increases in latencies and/or errors are interpreted as originating from additional cognitive processes predominately described as observer-based perspective transformations. A closer look reveals that such an account is disputable on grounds related to the use of laterality judgments. Other transformation accounts, i.e., object or array transformations, as well as non-transformational accounts, i.e., extra processing due to spatial conflicts, have not been adequately considered, tested, or ruled out by existing research. Our review examines visual perspective tasks in detail, identifies problems and makes recommendations for future research.

After independence, the one who made policies in India showed up their ability and capability to use vocational education in order to gain money and a training as this is the overall solution for the problem of unemployment and an outcome it kept this policy alive considering it the most important one even in today's generation. Recently, NEP (National Education Policy 2020), announced that minimum 50% of their students must get vocational education and training (VET) by the year 2025. So in order to pass this mission, the NEP proposed different kinds of rules and regulation and changes for their students. But many Scholars showed up their negativity by asking that how far will there rules and regulations made for the students would help them in achieving their desired objects. The goal of the current investigation was to thoroughly investigate the policy's approach to VET. The study identified various needs that are essential for meeting the challenges that must be overcome in VET can help you achieve your goals as proposed in NEP, and lastly, looking ahead settlement and India's VET development process. This was supported by a thorough desktop examination of a significant the volume of books and the websites of organizations involved in VET.
