1DTIC ADA070817: Interview Evaluation Of The Datastat Outpatient Pharmacy System At Naval Regional Medical Center Charleston.
By Defense Technical Information Center
The DataStat Outpatient Pharmacy System is designed to improve and expand pharmacy operations by performing such functions as the printing of labels and reports, patient profiling, interaction monitoring, and inventory control. In December of 1977, the Naval Regional Medical Center at Charleston, S.C., became the first U.S. military hospital to implement DataStat. This paper presents the results of interviews conducted in March 1978 with the pharmacy staff at NRMC Charleston to obtain their subjective assessments of the performance and impacts to date of the automated outpatient system.

2ERIC ED211585: Evaluation Use Project. Final Report Of The User Interview Survey.
By ERIC
The User Interview Survey was conducted by the Evaluation Use Project (EUP). The goals of the survey, which were achieved, were gathering, categorizing, and analyzing information about evaluation use among elementary school decision makers. Most survey respondents agreed instructional and curricular issues were most important. It was found that most school decision makers did not frequently rely upon evaluations when they made decisions. Needs assessment evaluations were most helpful to school staff in identifying areas requiring attention. Evaluative data were used more frequently in curricular decisions and in those involving the bilingual program. The data did not usually enter into administrative, staff development, or personnel decisions. The level of evaluation utilization increased in those decisions in which administrators participated. Refinements in the observations and data collection procedures directed toward underlying causes were suggested. The implications for future research on evaluation utilization and evaluation practice in the schools were discussed. The analyses conducted as part of this research have the potential to increase evaluation utilization at the local level. (DWH)

4ERIC ED320574: The Arizona Clinical Interview Rating Scale: Its Applicability And Adaptability For The Evaluation Of Pre-Search Reference Interviews.
By ERIC
This paper discusses the applicability and adaptability for evaluating reference interviews in library science of the Arizona Clinical Interview Rating Scale (ACIRS), a process-oriented scale originally developed in 1976 at the Arizona College of Medicine to evaluate the interview performance of medical students. The analysis surveys the content and reliability and validity data and discusses the appropriateness of the criteria and the presentation for reference interviews. It is concluded that the ACIRS is an effective interview scale emphasizing process-related criteria that can be modified fairly easily for application to pre-search interviews. (9 references) (GL)

5DTIC AD0740996: An Evaluation Of The Applicant Interview Form For CNA Support Jobs
By Defense Technical Information Center
Ratings on the Interview Evaluation Form used with applicants for CNA support jobs are highly consistent within sets of interviewers, but unreliable between sets of interviewers. Their validity for predicting later job performance is modest at best. A more structured interview evaluation form should be sought, and several interviewers trained to use it.

6An Evaluation Of The State Of The Church Conference And The Documentation : An Interview With L.B. Meyer
By Lawrence B Meyer

Prof. Kurt Marquart, in his Anatomy of an Explosion p. 94, said of these conferences: “The years 1961 and 1962 saw two “ State of the Church” conferences, with several hundred people taking part. Although the meetings were organized privately by conservatives, Dr. Behnken sent Dr. L. B. Meyer as his personal envoy to observe the proceedings. Meyer issued a formal “ evaluation,” which did its best to allay concerns and was sent by Dr. Behnken to all pastors and teachers in the Synod . Out of these meetings there issued a permanent organization, its publication The Faithful Word , and two wide-ranging Books of Documentation full of photo-copied evidence of varying quality and relevance, concerning the progress of liberalism and ecumenism in the Missouri Synod.”

8ERIC ED156715: Synthetic Estimation Of State Health Characteristics Based On The Health Interview Survey. Vital And Health Statistics. Series 2. Data Evaluation And Methods Research. Number 75.
By ERIC
Synthetic estimation is a statistical technique that estimates small-area statistics by combining national estimates of the relevant characteristics with estimates of other known characteristics of the small geographic area. The advantages of the synthetic estimation approach to local estimation are its intuitive appeal, its simplicity, and its low cost. A major disadvantage is its possibile lack of sensitivity to certain local characteristics. Another method used for the same purpose is the "nearly unbiased" estimator. The mathematics of both methods are presented, including formulas for estimating mean square error and average mean square error. An evaluation of synthetic estimates is demonstrated by comparing the results of a 50-cell grid with the results from 2, 4, 8, and 16-cell grids. (Author/CTM)

10ERIC ED456836: Focus Group Interview Evaluation Report For The LSTA.
By ERIC
The Utah State Library Division conducted an evaluation of its participation in the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). The evaluation plan determined by the Utah State Library Division used two approaches designed to examine issues and achievements related to LSTA: focus groups and a statewide survey. Utah State University (USU) was involved in the focus group interview (FGI) segment, which explored selected goals and objectives from the grant recipient's and patron's points of view. The purpose of this report is to document the specific activities and findings of USU's portion of the evaluation. One aspect of this FGI project was careful identification of homogeneous groups. Suggestions for groups included library administrators, reference librarians, library patrons, LSTA participants, LSTA non-participants, and PIONEER system users and support staff. Results from LSTA and PIONEER focus group interviews are outlined. The results are combined because responses to interview questions were very similar. Each question has been divided into two sections: Positive Comments and Concerns. Within both sections, responses are further grouped into common themes with the most frequent responses (mentioned three or more times) given in italics. Interview questions include: (1) What are your impressions of the LSTA? (2) Describe the LSTA program as it operates in your library; (3) How has the LSTA affected the workload? (4) What have been the effects of LSTA on customer service? (5) How had the LSTA affected local financial and technical support? (6) What are your perceptions of PIONEER and its service to your patrons? (7) What is the level of support and training for PIONEER? and (8) What are your suggestions as well as future needs and concerns? Impressions by LSTA non-participants of the LSTA and PIONEER are given, followed by direct quotes or paraphrased answers of both "PIONEER users" and "automation users" to the question asking for their impressions of the Library's technology support and of PIONEER. 13NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS) 19910003790: Evaluation Of The Trajectory Operations Applications Software Task (TOAST). Volume 2: Interview Transcripts
By NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS)
The Trajectory Operations Applications Software Task (TOAST) is a software development project whose purpose is to provide trajectory operation pre-mission and real-time support for the Space Shuttle. The purpose of the evaluation was to evaluate TOAST as an Application Manager - to assess current and planned capabilities, compare capabilities to commercially-available off the shelf (COTS) software, and analyze requirements of MCC and Flight Analysis Design System (FADS) for TOAST implementation. As a major part of the data gathering for the evaluation, interviews were conducted with NASA and contractor personnel. Real-time and flight design users, orbit navigation users, the TOAST developers, and management were interviewed. Code reviews and demonstrations were also held. Each of these interviews was videotaped and transcribed as appropriate. Transcripts were edited and are presented chronologically.

14Psychometric Evaluation Of The English Version Of The Semi-Structured Interview For Personality Functioning (STiP-5.1)
By Kennedy M Balzen
Given the critical issues associated with the categorical approach to personality disorders (PDs), the DSM-5 introduced the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) as a dimensional approach to the assessment of PDs. Criterion A of the AMPD contains one dimension of the severity of personality functioning, comprised of two domains: self and interpersonal functioning. The Semi-Structured Interview for Personality Functioning (STiP-5.1) was developed to assess this overall level of personality functioning (i.e., criterion A) and has shown good psychometric properties thus far. However, this assessment has yet to be validated in an English-speaking sample. The primary aim of this study is to provide a psychometric evaluation of the English version of the STiP-5.1, including an evaluation of the factor structure, internal consistency, and convergent validity.

15ERIC ED087488: User Evaluation Of An Information Service In Social Welfare. Report Of An Interview And Questionnaire Study Of The Wiltshire Social Services Staff Digest. Design Of Information Systems In The Social Sciences. Research Reports Series B, Number One.
By ERIC
As part of a larger research effort to determine what constitutes an effective information system, a user evaluation of the "Wiltshire Social Services Staff Digest", a monthly publication produced by the research and development section of the Social Service Department, was carried out. A stratified sample of 700 among the total 2,424 departmental employees received a questionnaire designed to obtain data on the use and usefulness of the "Digest". In addition, an interview survey was designed to acquire data on the Digest that could not easily be obtained by the questionnaire and data on the information requirements of the staff. The results indicated that the "Digest" was read by almost everyone in the department. Nearly all respondents (94 percent) read the news section and 79 percent found it useful. The library information bulletin was read by only half of the respondents and only just over a third of the respondents found it useful. The majority of respondents were satisfied with the present monthly frequency and also with the presentation. There was a general feeling among the interviewees that articles and letters giving personal views and comments ought to be published. Conclusions and recommendations relate to four main parts of the information system: the "Digest", the office filing systems, the information officers, and the role of the department's library. (CH)

18ERIC EJ1144359: Using UAM Corpustool To Explore The Language Of Evaluation In Interview Program
By ERIC
As an interactional encounter between a journalist and one or more newsworthy public figures, an interview program is a special type of discourse that is full of evaluative language. This paper sets out to explore evaluation in interview programs from the perspective of appraisal system. The corpus software used in this study is UAM CorpusTool 3.3--annotating software that is able to automatically annotate the grammatical structure and parts of speech of the text, meanwhile allows manual annotation of linguistic features based on various schemes. The results show that the use of attitudinal resources is closely related to speaker's communication strategies. Invoked evaluation and positive appraisal resources are most frequently used in the interview to establish alignment with the audience. As will be explained below, the design of the program process and other information are also sources of evaluation.

19A Formative Evaluation Of The Implementation Of An Upper Limb Stroke Rehabilitation Intervention In Clinical Practice: A Qualitative Interview Study.
By Connell, Louise A, McMahon, Naoimh E, Harris, Jocelyn E, Watkins, Caroline L and Eng, Janice J
This article is from Implementation Science : IS , volume 9 . Abstract Background: The Graded Repetitive Arm Supplementary Program (GRASP) is a hand and arm exercise programme designed to increase the intensity of exercise achieved in inpatient stroke rehabilitation. GRASP was shown to be effective in a randomised controlled trial in 2009 and has since experienced unusually rapid uptake into clinical practice. The aim of this study was to conduct a formative evaluation of the implementation of GRASP to inform the development and implementation of a similar intervention in the United Kingdom. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with therapists who were involved in implementing GRASP at their work site, or who had experience of using GRASP. Normalisation Process Theory (NPT), a sociological theory used to explore the processes of embedding innovations in practice, was used to develop an interview guide. Intervention components outlined within the GRASP Guideline Manual were used to develop prompts to explore how therapists use GRASP in practice. Interview transcripts were analysed using a coding frame based on implementation theory. Results: Twenty interviews were conducted across eight sites in British Columbia Canada. Therapists identified informal networks and the free online availability of GRASP as key factors in finding out about the intervention. All therapists reported positive opinions about the value of GRASP. At all sites, therapists identified individuals who advocated for the use of GRASP, and in six of the eight sites this was the practice leader or senior therapist. Rehabilitation assistants were identified as instrumental in delivering GRASP in almost all sites as they were responsible for organising the GRASP equipment and assisting patients using GRASP. Almost all intervention components were found to be adapted to some degree when used in clinical practice; coverage was wider, the content adapted, and the dose, when monitored, was less. Conclusions: Although GRASP has translated into clinical practice, it is not always used in the way in which it was shown to be effective. This formative evaluation has informed the development of a novel intervention which aims to bridge this evidence-practice gap in upper limb rehabilitation after stroke. Electronic supplementary material: The online version of this article (doi:10.1186/s13012-014-0090-3) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.

20Detection Of Malingering: Psychometric Evaluation Of The Chinese Version Of The Structured Interview Of Reported Symptoms-2.
By Liu, Chang, Liu, Zhening, Chiu, Helen FK, Carl, Tam Wai-Cheong, Zhang, Huiran, Wang, Peng, Wu, Guowei, Mwansisya, Tumbewene E, Cao, Longlong, Hu, Aimin, Wang, Yu and Xue, Zhimin
This article is from BMC Psychiatry , volume 13 . Abstract Background: Malingering detection has emerged as an important issue in clinical and forensic settings. The Structured Interview of Reported Symptoms-2 (SIRS-2) was designed to assess the feigned symptoms in both clinical and non-clinical subjects. The aim of the study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of this scale. Methods: Two studies were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese Version of SIRS-2. In Study one, with a simulation design, the subjects included a. 40 students asked to simulate symptoms of mental illness; b. 40 general psychiatric inpatients and c. 40 students asked to reply to questions honestly. Scales scores for feigning symptoms among three groups were carried out for discriminant validity of the Chinese Version of SIRS-2. Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2(MMPI-2) was administered in 80 undergraduate students. In Study two, with a known-groups comparison design, scales scores for feigning symptoms were compared between 20 suspected malingerers and 80 psychiatric outpatients from two forensic centers using the Chinese Version of SIRS-2. Results: The Chinese Version of SIRS-2 demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency in both study one and two. In study one, criterion validity of this scale was supported by its significantly positive correlation with the MMPI-2 (r = 0.282 ~ 0.481 for Infrequency), and by its significantly negative correlation with the MMPI-2 (r = -0.255 ~ -0.519 for Lie and -0.205 ~ 0.391 for Correction). Scores of 10 out of 13 subscales of the Chinese Version of SIRS-2 for simulators were significantly higher than scores of honest students and general psychiatric patients. In study two, the mean scores of the Chinese Version of 13 subscales for suspected malingerers were significantly higher than those of psychiatric outpatients. For discriminant validity, it yielded a large effect size (d = 1.80) for the comparison of the participant groups in study one and two. Moreover, the sensitivity (proportion of malingerers accurately identified by the measure) and specificity (proportion of people accurately classified as responding honestly) of the Chinese version of SIRS-2 in the detection of malingering in these two studies are acceptable. Conclusions: The Chinese version of the SIRS-2 has good psychometric properties and is a valid and reliable tool for detection of malingering in Chinese populations.
