Introduction. The article presents the results of the analysis of the problems associated with occupational diseases in the country caused by adverse production factors. The facts of discrepancy between the official occupational diseases statistics and the assessment of the potentially possible number of them are established. The main reason for not registration of occupational diseases is the disinterest of the employer, employee and the commission, which conducts medical examinations, and also imperfection of legislative and standard base. Problem Statement. The purpose of this study is to develop measures to reduce the level of morbidity caused by professional activity. Theoretical Part. The problems associated with occupational diseases, factors that can and should solve the problem of ensuring the safety of production are considered, and measures are proposed to solve these problems. Conclusion. The importance of the official registration of occupational diseases, their investigation and prevention is shown. The ninth grade unit of the FICSS series (Focus on Inner City Social Studies -- see SO 008 271) studies the economic and political realities of the inner city. This document, the first unit of the 9th grade section, deals with the ecological crises involving pollution and its causes. Specific problems include air pollution, pesticides, herbicides, water pollution, and population control. The unit provides both facts and scope of the crises and direction for positive action by citizens of all ages to aid in correcting the problems. Many of the learning activities in the unit will build skills in chart and graph reading as well as in interpreting pictorial data. Students also learn to utilize library sources and gather and interpret facts from field trips and interviews in an effort to understand their own immediate environment. Specific teaching procedures and strategies and knowledge, skill, and behavioral objectives are outlined to aid the teacher in developing the concepts of the unit. Given that the terminal condition is of at most linear growth, it is well known that a Cauchy problem admits a unique classical solution when the coefficient multiplying the second derivative (i.e., the volatility) is also a function of at most linear growth. In this note, we give a condition on the volatility that is necessary and sufficient for a Cauchy problem to admit a unique solution.

An exploration of sources of gang activity in an urban area used ethnographic research with researchers posing as mathematics tutors for 1 year in a school comprising seventh and eighth grades. The "tutors" attended six eighth grade mathematics classes and acted as assistants to the teacher. The classes of 25 to 30 students lasted 40 minutes and were held at a majority black, neighborhood school. The researchers took field notes recording what happened in class focusing primarily on students' interactions with one another and with the teacher and other school employees. An analysis of these observations found that the educational goals of providing knowledge and assessing its transmission were undermined by the following factors: (1) the lack of predictability of schedule and class work from one day to the next; (2) the failure to monitor students' progress; (3) the failure of students to master material taught in previous grades; (4) the rate of student absenteeism from class; and (5) the amount of class time devoted to administrative activities. Observations also indicate that correcting these problems requires three steps: accurate assessment of each student at the beginning of the year, individualized instruction, and careful monitoring of each student's progress in order to provide feedback. The ultimate judgment in book selection for classroom use must rest with the teacher who should be able to defend his choices on the basis of literary and moral values. Censorship occurs whenever such choices are thwarted by the community. To deal effectively with censorship, the English teacher should know (1) that rational men throughout history have defended censorship on moral, political, and philosophical grounds; (2) that although many censors defend their own judgments emotionally, other censors are philosophical and rational; (3) that censorship is objectionable and the necessity for it unconfirmed; and (4) that goals in teaching literature are enjoyment, understanding, knowledge about contrasting values, and appreciation of art. English departments should establish book selection committees, demand professionalism from their members, inform the public about policies, devise a procedure for handling censorship cases, and remain calm when the censor appears. The solid waste problem is so pervasive that it can no longer be ignored. The purpose of this set of materials is to encourage a lifestyle that includes the use of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It was designed to educate upper elementary and junior high school students who may educate their classmates, families, and community about the solid waste issue, its causes and solutions. The curriculum may be adapted to a variety of school grade levels. This curriculum is divided into four main sessions. Session I defines the solid waste problem; session II provides an investigation of the underlying causes of the waste problem; session III examines waste in people's lives; and session IV encourages solutions. Background information is provided for each, followed by a detailed description of the activities used in the 2-hour classroom presentations. Interdisciplinary follow-up activities are suggested. Worksheets and hand-outs are found at the end of each chapter. Additional information, including a pre/post survey, the role of the teacher and volunteers, a booklet to send to families, a sample letter, and how to organize a school recycling program and a trash festival are found in the appendices. This paper reviews literature on problems encountered by beginning teachers in the inner city and points out some steps that have been taken in both preservice and inservice teacher education alleviate these problems. While books such as "Death at an Early Age" and "Up the Down Staircase," are briefly reviewed, greater attention is given to research reports, program descriptions, program proposals, and comments by beginning teachers themselves. The section on current programs gives details of 24 programs which have been implemented and briefly describes 24 additional programs for which only limited material was available. The author concludes, from documents examined, that the most important ingredients for successful urban teaching are the attitude of the prospective teacher and early, extensive preservice experience with the realities of the inner city. This paper provides a detailed theoretical analysis of methods to approximate the solutions of high-dimensional (>10^6) linear Bayesian problems. An optimal low-rank projection that maximizes the information content of the Bayesian inversion is proposed and efficiently constructed using a scalable randomized SVD algorithm. Useful optimality results are established for the associated posterior error covariance matrix and posterior mean approximations, which are further investigated in a numerical experiment consisting of a large-scale atmospheric tracer transport source-inversion problem. This method proves to be a robust and efficient approach to dimension reduction, as well as a natural framework to analyze the information content of the inversion. Possible extensions of this approach to the non-linear framework in the context of operational numerical weather forecast data assimilation systems based on the incremental 4D-Var technique are also discussed, and a detailed implementation of a new Randomized Incremental Optimal Technique (RIOT) for 4D-Var algorithms leveraging our theoretical results is proposed.

Because superluminal expansion and entropy production are the two generic features of inflationary models, our results suggest that inflation, or something very similar, may be the only dynamical solution to the horizon and flatness problems.

We solve some famous conjectures on the distribution of primes. These conjectures are to be listed as Legendre's, Andrica's, Oppermann's, Brocard's, Cram\'{e}r's, Shanks', and five Smarandache's conjectures. We make use of both Firoozbakht's conjecture (which recently proved by the author) and Kourbatov's theorem on the distribution of and gaps between consecutive primes. These latter conjecture and theorem play an essential role in our methods for proving these famous conjectures. In order to prove Shanks' conjecture, we make use of Panaitopol's asymptotic formula for $\pi(x)$ as well.

Lattice four-fermion models containing $N$ flavors of staggered fermions, that are invariant under $Z_2$ and U(1) chiral symmetries, are known to suffer from sign problems when formulated using the auxiliary field approach. Although these problems have been ignored in previous studies, they can be severe. In this talk, we show that the sign problems disappear when the models are formulated in the fermion bag approach, allowing us to solve them rigorously for the first time.

Among the Ramsey-type hierarchies, namely, Ramsey's theorem, the free set, the thin set and the rainbow Ramsey theorem, only Ramsey's theorem is known to collapse in reverse mathematics. A promising approach to show the strictness of the hierarchies would be to prove that every computable instance at level n has a low_n solution. In particular, this requires effective control of iterations of the Turing jump. In this paper, we design some variants of Mathias forcing to construct solutions to cohesiveness, the Erdos-Moser theorem and stable Ramsey's theorem for pairs, while controlling their iterated jumps. For this, we define forcing relations which, unlike Mathias forcing, have the same definitional complexity as the formulas they force. This analysis enables us to answer two questions of Wei Wang, namely, whether cohesiveness and the Erdos-Moser theorem admit preservation of the arithmetic hierarchy, and can be seen as a step towards the resolution of the strictness of the Ramsey-type hierarchies.

In this paper, we propose two iterative methods for finding a common solution of a finite family of equilibrium problems for pseudomonotone bifunctions. The first is a parallel hybrid extragradient-cutting algorithm which is extended from the previously known one for variational inequalities to equilibrium problems. The second is a new cyclic hybrid extragradient-cutting algorithm. In the cyclic algorithm, using the known techniques, we can perform and develop practical numerical experiments.

In this paper we show existence of solutions for some elliptic problems with nonlocal diffusion by means of nonvariational tools. Our proof is based on the use of topological degree, which requires a priori bounds for the solutions. We obtain the a priori bounds by adapting the classical scaling method of Gidas and Spruck. We also deal with problems involving gradient terms.

Low-rank tensor approximation techniques attempt to mitigate the overwhelming complexity of linear algebra tasks arising from high-dimensional applications. In this work, we study the low-rank approximability of solutions to linear systems and eigenvalue problems on Hilbert spaces. Although this question is central to the success of all existing solvers based on low-rank tensor techniques, very few of the results available so far allow to draw meaningful conclusions for higher dimensions. In this work, we develop a constructive framework to study low-rank approximability. One major assumption is that the involved linear operator admits a low-rank representation with respect to the chosen tensor format, a property that is known to hold in a number of applications. Simple conditions, which are shown to hold for a fairly general problem class, guarantee that our derived low-rank truncation error estimates do not deteriorate as the dimensionality increases.

We study existence and nonexistence of strictly positive solutions for the elliptic problems of the form $Lu=m\left( x\right) u^{p}$ in a bounded open interval, with zero boundary conditions, where $L$ is a strongly uniformly elliptic differential operator, $p\in\left( 0,1\right) $, and $m$ is a function that changes sign. Wilde’s meditation on capital punishment, the Ballad of Reading Gaol comes after he was convicted and imprisoned under charges of gross indecency. The charges stemmed from his affair with Lord Alfred Douglas, the son of the Marquis of Queensberry. It relates the story of an execution of a man who murdered his wife which Wilde witnessed during his internment. In 1895, Oscar Wilde was sentenced to 2 years of hard labor for acts of ‘gross indecency’. During his time at Reading Gaol, he witnessed a rare hanging, and in the three years between his release and his untimely death in 1900, was inspired to write the following poem, a meditation on the death penalty and the importance of forgiveness, even for (and especially for) something as heinous as murdering one’s spouse; for even the murderer, Wilde argues, is human and suffers more so for being the cause of his own pain, for ‘having killed the thing he loved’; for everyone is the cause of someone else’s suffering and suffers at the hands of another. The Picture of Dorian Gray is the only published novel written by Oscar Wilde, and first came out as the lead story in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine on June 20, 1890. Wilde later revised this edition, making several alterations, and adding new chapters; the amended version was published by Ward, Lock, and Company in April 1891. The novel tells of a young man named Dorian Gray, the subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Basil is greatly impressed by Dorian's physical beauty and becomes strongly infatuated with him, believing that his beauty is responsible for a new mode in his art. Talking in Basil's garden, Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, a friend of Basil's, and becomes enthralled by Lord Henry's world view. Espousing a new kind of hedonism, Lord Henry suggests that the only thing worth pursuing in life is beauty, and the fulfilment of the senses. Realising that one day his beauty will fade, Dorian cries out, wishing that the portrait Basil has painted of him would age rather than himself. Dorian's wish is fulfilled, subsequently plunging him into a series of debauched acts. The portrait serves as a reminder of the effect each act has upon his soul, with each sin being displayed as a disfigurement of his form, or through a sign of aging. The Picture of Dorian Gray is considered one of the last works of classic gothic horror fiction with a strong Faustian theme. It deals with the artistic movement of the decadents, and homosexuality, both of which caused some controversy when the book was first published. This was the Weekly Poetry project for March 18, 2012.<br><br>Oscar Wilde, an Irish author who lived for much of his life in London, is most famous for his witty, satirical plays. He also worked for some time as a journalist.<br><br>Much of his poetry was written early in his career, with a notable exception being The Ballad of Reading Gaol. This poem, Symphony in Yellow, is probably one of his earlier works; in it he describes London in a flattering manner something he was disinclined to do after his trial and imprisonment.<br>(Summary by Lucy Perry)

Vera; or, The Nihilists is a play by Oscar Wilde. It is a melodramatic tragedy set in Russia and is loosely based on the story of Vera Zasulich. It was the first play that Wilde wrote. It was produced in the United Kingdom in 1880, and in New York in 1882, but it was not a success and folded in both cities. It is nowadays rarely revived.
