This study examined the teacher effectiveness of the selected STEM subjects' teachers of physics, chemistry, and biology at the senior secondary school level in Ijebu North local area of Ogun State, Nigeria. All the fifty teachers delivering the selected STEM subjects were observed using and adapted Teachers' Effectiveness Observation Guide (r=0.7). The data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that teacher effectiveness of the selected STEM subjects' teachers was relevant. The results also indicated that teacher effectiveness of chemistry teachers was the best among the three categories of teachers. Furthermore, the findings revealed no significant gender difference in teacher effectiveness of the selected STEM subjects' teachers. The study discussed the implications of the findings for sustainable development using science education. It recommended among other things that periodic training should be organized for teachers in all areas of teaching dimensions, particularly in the use of activity-based instructional materials for science teaching.

The paper is concerned with reforms in Education and the need for re-engineering Teacher education in Nigeria for better professionalism and National Development. In the process, key concepts like Teacher Education and professionalism were explained. A brief review of the state of Teacher Education and Development in Nigeria revealed the challenges to Teacher Education and Development. Various reforms in Education that warrant re-engineering of the teaching profession were highlighted. The paper stressed the need for improved teacher Education in Nigeria. We also identified strategies for improvement of Teacher Education and Development in Nigeria for better professionalism and the overall national development. The paper finally made recommendations for improving Teacher Education. In conclusion we observed that the most important action any nation can take to improve her education is to strengthen the teaching profession in terms of subject matters, development of new skills, training and values.

This paper examined Engineering Education as a tool for self – reliance, job-creation and sustainable development. The development of any nation lies on its economic vibrancy and this is true particularly for developing countries like Nigeria, who is battling with chronic factors like unemployment and underemployment, which have kept them in the perpetual bondage of economic frustration. 

Sustainability must be integrated into all levels of engineering education, from foundation courses to ongoing projects and research. This report contains the proceedings of the Joint Conference on Engineering Education and Training for Sustainable Development. The objectives of the conference were to define the essential knowledge and skills of the environmentally literate engineer, agree on the fundamental principles of teaching, assist educators in developing curricula, provide examples of initiatives, and establish a network for a continuing exchange of information and experience. The report includes an executive summary, an introduction, the conference program, notes from the opening session, keynote addresses, working groups, plenary presentations of case studies and a closing session, and conference conclusions and recommendations.
