5Category Theory And Model-Driven Engineering: From Formal Semantics To Design Patterns And Beyond
By Zinovy Diskin and Tom Maibaum
There is a hidden intrigue in the title. CT is one of the most abstract mathematical disciplines, sometimes nicknamed "abstract nonsense". MDE is a recent trend in software development, industrially supported by standards, tools, and the status of a new "silver bullet". Surprisingly, categorical patterns turn out to be directly applicable to mathematical modeling of structures appearing in everyday MDE practice. Model merging, transformation, synchronization, and other important model management scenarios can be seen as executions of categorical specifications. Moreover, the paper aims to elucidate a claim that relationships between CT and MDE are more complex and richer than is normally assumed for "applied mathematics". CT provides a toolbox of design patterns and structural principles of real practical value for MDE. We will present examples of how an elementary categorical arrangement of a model management scenario reveals deficiencies in the architecture of modern tools automating the scenario.

7DTIC ADA530798: User Interface Design Patterns
By Defense Technical Information Center
Graphical User Interface Design Patterns (UIDP) are templates representing commonly used graphical visualizations for addressing certain HCI issues. These patterns include substantial contributions from human factors professionals, and using these patterns as widgets within the context of a GUI builder helps to ensure that key human factors concepts are quickly and correctly implemented within the code of advanced visual user interfaces. This final report describes the concept of the UIDP and discusses how this concept can be implemented to benefit both the programmer and the end user by assisting in the fast generation of error-free code that integrates human factors principles to fully support the end-user's work environment.

8Design Tactile Interfaces With Enhanced Depth Images With Patterns And Textures For Visually Impaired People
This paper presents the design and development of Tactile Interfaces with Enhanced Images with Patterns and Textures for Visually Impaired People. In particular, haptic interfaces uses a number of predefine tactile texture and patterns to enhance the experience of the tactile feeling of images for visually impaired people. The open source OpenCv application is used to automatically change group of colours from depth images to tactile texture and patterns. The depth images are captured with the he p of RGB-Depth cameras. The tactile images are then explored by visually impaired people with the use of haptic interfaces. The predefined textures and patterns are more easily distinguished than uniformly colors in depth images. 10DTIC ADA601942: Multi-Core Programming Design Patterns: Stream Processing Algorithms For Dynamic Scene Perceptions
By Defense Technical Information Center
We have implemented, tested, validated and benchmarked a scalable parallel implementations of the integral histogram algorithm critical for computer vision tasks for fast multiscale subwindow-based object searching, motion analysis and content-based image retrieval applications. Several integral histogram kernels using CUDA optimizations for many core GPUs were investigated. The integral histogram algorithm was also parallelized using the StarSs programming model in collaboration the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for several architectures including Cell/B.E., GPU and SMP. The Cell/B.E. implementation of the integral histogram using cross-weave scan and 16 bins for a 640x480 image reaches 160 fr/sec using 8 SPEs. The wavefront scan for the same sized image reaches almost 200 fr/sec but critically depends on the block size. The GPU implementation of the integral histogram was 60 times faster than the sequential CPU version for a 1K x 1K image reaching 49 fr/sec and 21 times faster for 512 x 512 images reaching 194 fr/sec. The implemented code has been delivered to AFRL for transition to other programs like CETE.

Design patterns implemented in Java Design patterns implemented in Java Read in different language : zh , ko , fr , tr , ar , es , pt , id , ru , de , ja , vi , bn , np Introduction Design patterns are the best, formalized practices a programmer can use tosolve common problems when designing an application or system. Design patterns can speed up the development process by providing tested, provendevelopment paradigms. Reusing design patterns help prevent subtle issues that cause majorproblems, and it also improves code readability for coders and architects whoare familiar with the patterns. Getting started This site showcases Java Design Patterns. The solutions have been developed byexperienced programmers and architects from the open-source community. Thepatterns can be browsed by their high-level descriptions or by looking at theirsource code. The source code examples are well commented and can be thought of asprogramming tutorials on how to implement a specific pattern. We use the mostpopular battle-proven open-source Java technologies. Before you dive into the material, you should be familiar with various Software Design Principles . All designs should be as simple as possible. You should start with KISS, YAGNI,and Do The Simplest Thing That Could Possibly Work principles. Complexity andpatterns should only be introduced when they are needed for practicalextensibility. Once you are familiar with these concepts you can start drilling down into the available design patterns by anyof the following approaches Search for a specific pattern by name. Can't find one? Please report a new pattern here . Using tags such as Performance , Gang of Four or Data access . Using pattern categories, Creational , Behavioral , and others. Hopefully, you find the object-oriented solutions presented on this site usefulin your architectures and have as much fun learning them as we had while developing them. How to contribute If you are willing to contribute to the project you will find the relevant information inour developer wiki . We will helpyou and answer your questions in the Gitter chatroom . 17Machine Learning Design Patterns For MLOps // Valliappa Lakshmanan // MLOps Meetup #49
By MLOps.community
MLOps community meetup #49! Last Wednesday we talked to Lak Lakshmanan, Data Analytics and AI Solutions, Google Cloud. // Abstract: Design patterns are formalized best practices to solve common problems when designing a software system. As machine learning moves from being a research discipline to a software one, it is useful to catalogue tried-and-proven methods to help engineers tackle frequently occurring problems that crop up during the ML process. In this talk, I will cover five patterns (Workflow Pipelines, Transform, Multimodal Input, Feature Store, Cascade) that are useful in the context of adding flexibility, resilience and reproducibility to ML in production. For data scientists and ML engineers, these patterns provide a way to apply hard-won knowledge from hundreds of ML experts to your own projects. Anyone designing infrastructure for machine learning will have to be able to provide easy ways for the data engineers, data scientists, and ML engineers to implement these, and other, design patterns. // Bio: Lak is the Director for Data Analytics and AI Solutions on Google Cloud. His team builds software solutions for business problems using Google Cloud's data analytics and machine learning products. He founded Google's Advanced Solutions Lab ML Immersion program and is the author of three O'Reilly books and several Coursera courses. Before Google, Lak was a Director of Data Science at Climate Corporation and a Research Scientist at NOAA. ----------- Connect With Us ✌️------------- Join our Slack community: https://go.mlops.community/slack Follow us on Twitter: @mlopscommunity Sign up for the next meetup: https://go.mlops.community/register Connect with Demetrios on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dpbrinkm/ Connect with Lak on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/valliappalakshmanan/ Timestamps: [00:00] TWIML Con Debate announcement to be hosted by Demetrios on Friday [00:19] Should data scientists know about Kubernetes? 19Design Of A Range For Plotting Patterns Of Shipboard Antennas
By Baran, Umit Savas
The need for a range to measure the effectiveness of ships' radiating systems is described. A three-step long-range plan is presented for the establishment of such a range. Special consideration is given for to minimum cost, particularly in the initial phase. A design is given for this phase in which the key units are presented in detail. Readily available commercial or standard navy units are specified wherever possible. options are presented and suggestions for future extension of range are included.

24ERIC ED375514: Educational Facilities For The Twenty-First Century: Research Analysis And Design Patterns.
By ERIC
This handbook examines the relationship between school buildings and educational performance. Following the introductory chapter, chapter 2 presents findings from empirical studies that have examined the building/performance issue. Research has demonstrated that the physical setting has both direct and mediated effects on prosocial and achievement outcomes. Chapter 3 presents an ecological model that accounts for physical, psychological, and social environmental factors that affect student outcomes. The fourth chapter offers an analysis based on a review of empirical research, architectural literature, and educational reform literature to inductively develop a set of 27 design patterns. Two patterns based on environment-behavior research are highlighted--small schools and well-defined activity pockets. Chapter 5 discusses implications from the educational reform literature. The complete set of 27 patterns is presented in the sixth chapter. Chapter 7 presents an example that uses patterns to create a prototypical design for a new type of educational facility. The final chapter focuses on the earlier stages of the facility development process, those of feasibility and planning. A reconceptualization of an existing educational facility planning model is offered. A total of 42 figures and 1 table are included. (LMI)

Design patterns implemented in Java Design patterns implemented in Java Read in different language : CN , KR , FR , TR , AR Introduction Design patterns are the best formalized practices a programmer can use tosolve common problems when designing an application or system. The solutions have been developed byexperienced programmers and architects from the open source community. The patterns can be browsed by their high level descriptions or by looking at theirsource code. The source code examples are well commented and can be thought asprogramming tutorials on how to implement a specific pattern. We use the mostpopular battle-proven open source Java technologies. Once you are familiar with these concepts you can start drilling down into the available design patterns by any of the following approaches Search for a specific pattern by name. Can't find one? Please report a new pattern here . Using tags such as Performance , Gang of Four or Data access . Using pattern categories, Creational , Behavioral , and others. Hopefully you find the object oriented solutions presented on this site usefulin your architectures and have as much fun learning them as we had developing them. How to contribute If you are willing to contribute to the project you will find the relevant information in our developer wiki . We will help you and answer your questions in the Gitter chatroom . Design patterns implemented in Java Design patterns implemented in Java Read in different language : zh , ko , fr , tr , ar , es , pt , id , ru , de , ja Introduction Design patterns are the best, formalized practices a programmer can use tosolve common problems when designing an application or system. 42Design Patterns For Parser Combinators (Functional Pearl)
By Jamie Willis
Jamie Willis and Nicolas Wu. Design Patterns for Parser Combinators (Functional Pearl). Haskell 2021: Proceedings of the 14th ACM SIGPLAN International Symposium on Haskell, August 2021, Pages 71–84. https://doi.org/10.1145/3471874.3472984 Abstract Parser combinators are a popular and elegant approach for parsing in functional languages. The design and implementation of such libraries are well discussed, but having a well-designed library is only one-half of the story. In this paper we explore several reusable approaches to writing parsers in combinator style, focusing on easy to apply patterns to keep parsing code simple, separated, and maintainable. 45Patterns In Game Design
By Bjork, Staffan
47ERIC EJ846728: Design Patterns For Digital Item Types In Higher Education
By ERIC
A set of design patterns for digital item types has been developed in response to challenges identified in various projects by teachers in higher education. The goal of the projects in question was to design and develop formative and summative tests, and to develop interactive learning material in the form of quizzes. The subject domains involved were mainly in the life sciences, medical sciences and engineering sciences. The use of digital item types and facilitating the process of designing items were typical examples of the challenges involved. From the viewpoint of subject matter experts, the main challenge in digital item type design was to design items that test for understanding. Furthermore, lecturers want to reduce student behaviour that is based on guesswork. With these conditions in mind, this paper presents a set of design patterns for digital items, together with a standard format for describing these patterns. (Contains 1 table.)
