This paper reports on the use of an English-language reading practice application for an android tablet computer operating system with students who are not native speakers of English. The application materials for vocabulary learning in reading-passage contexts were created to include words from a database of low-frequency and technical noun-verb collocations which occurred frequently in certain documents related to the study of international affairs: thirty English-language annual reports of United Nations organizations found on official websites; and English-language annual reports and other articles from the websites of twenty international non-governmental organizations. The learning materials were used in an English for specific purposes course intended to support the reading skill development of students studying international affairs at a university in Japan. Research showed that use of the learning materials had three positive influences on students' study behavior: the students' reading speed increased without a loss in comprehension; the students reported that they enjoyed the reading practice with the mobile tablet computer; and they appreciated that it had some merits that differed from reading practice in hard copy formats that may help improve reading skills. Funding and diversity of courses is also another reason for the increasing popularity of online education. Learning in an online environment should be considered as the process whereby participants have to discuss, reflect, collect and analyze information and be active participants in the learning community. This paper details the design, implementation and evaluation of an Android Application Development online course, an e-tivity. This paper also highlights the issues which are of major concern in the design of an online programming course, and in particular the issue of engaging the target audience and assessment issues. A comprehensive evaluation is also provided which will be used to determine the future direction of this online course. (Contains 3 figures.)

We present a system to create appointments with medical practitioners by integrating a proposed Android-based mobile application with a selected open source EMR system. The application allows both the patient and the medical practitioners to manage appointments and make use of the electronic messaging facility to send reminders when the appointed time is approaching in real-time. A mobile application prototype is developed and the road map for implementation is also discussed.

In this study, a mobile application was developed for courses at undergraduate level. The application has not only been developed and used, but has also been used practically for 8 weeks. In other words, the findings are based on a practical experience rather than a theoretical basis. This study aimed to determine the opinions of students who participated in the development and application process of an Android application named NEU-CEIT about the mobile learning environment, educational and sharing structure of the developed application. A total of 27 students participated and students were asked to upload the developed application and examine the content. Following the application, students were administered an environment evaluation questionnaire. Data of the research were collected with survey method. Data obtained in the research were analyzed through the views of experts. According to the results, it was revealed that outcomes related with the usage structure of the developed application were positive, educational structure of the application is appropriate to follow the curriculum, it is rich in terms of materials and it might be one of the applications that students can use for communication. The results also showed that mobile applications will support education and increase motivation. This study supports that mobile applications improve academic achievement.

In our android project, we embedded the flashlight feature in the Gyro sensor’s angle alteration logic. This mechanism successfully leads to the flashlight of the camera getting ON & OFF when the device is tilted or shifted along the reference angle. This collaboration of sensors plays an important role for a device that does not have that feature.
