Repairman Jack has been tearing up the urban adventure scene ever since he was introduced in the New York Times bestseller The Tomb. As his fans know, Repairman Jack doesn't deal with electronic appliances; he's a situation fixer, no matter how weird or deadly a situation may be. Repairman Jack has no last name, no Social Security number, and no qualms when it comes to getting the job done-even if it means putting himself in serious danger. After fifteen years of separation, Jack is contacted by his long-lost sister, Kate, to help her track down the source of her girlfriend Jeanette's sudden trance-like behavior. Referred by a mysterious stranger who gives only Jack's name and phone number, Kate is shocked to find out that the "repairman" she seeks is none other than her little brother-and not altogether happy to find out what little "Jackie" has been doing with himself for all these years. With Jack leading the way, Kate finds out that Jeannette's behavior can be traced back to the experimental therapy she underwent for a brain tumor: now Jeannette's brain and those of several other subjects are infected by a mutated virus. Like any good virus, it wants to multiply-and if Jack can't stop the virus in its path, there will be deadly results. Meanwhile, Jack is traveling on the 9 train when suddenly a passenger goes berserk and starts shooting at random-leaving Jack no choice but to throw himself into the spotlight by putting the shooter down. Worse for Jack, one of his fellow passengers is a reporter for the local tabloid, The Light, who sees Jack's heroism as his ticket to journalistic stardom. The reporter promises to make Jack a celebrity hero, a household name-which could mean the end of Repairman Jack as we know him.

2The Andromeda Evolution
By Michael Crichton and Daniel H. Wilson
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Fifty years after The Andromeda Strain made Michael Crichton a household name--and spawned a new genre, the technothriller--the threat returns, in a gripping sequel that is terrifyingly realistic and resonant. The Evolution is Coming. In 1967, an extraterrestrial microbe came crashing down to Earth and nearly ended the human race. Accidental exposure to the particle--designated The Andromeda Strain--killed every resident of the town of Piedmont, Arizona, save for an elderly man and an infant boy. Over the next five days, a team of top scientists assigned to Project Wildfire worked valiantly to save the world from an epidemic of unimaginable proportions. In the moments before a catastrophic nuclear detonation, they succeeded. In the ensuing decades, research on the microparticle continued. And the world thought it was safe... Deep inside Fairchild Air Force Base, Project Eternal Vigilance has continued to watch and wait for the Andromeda Strain to reappear. On the verge of being shut down, the project has registered no activity--until now. A Brazilian terrain-mapping drone has detected a bizarre anomaly of otherworldly matter in the middle of the jungle, and, worse yet, the tell-tale chemical signature of the deadly microparticle. With this shocking discovery, the next-generation Project Wildfire is activated, and a diverse team of experts hailing from all over the world is dispatched to investigate the potentially apocalyptic threat. But the microbe is growing--evolving. And if the Wildfire team can't reach the quarantine zone, enter the anomaly, and figure out how to stop it, this new Andromeda Evolution will annihilate all life as we know it.

3The Compass of Life
(A Novel)
By Ira Karten and Harold Stoler
Once inside, he opened his safe and proceeded to shred each page of his notes on the mutated form of the AIDS virus, which he had been working on for all those years. Then he destroyed all but a syringe full of the microorganism, which he then proceeded to inject into himself through his thigh. A contented feeling passed through his body, as the beginning of his plan advanced without a hassle. Imagine a world where the AIDS virus mutates into a more deadly form that becomes communicable by touch and leaves those it doesn't kill sterile. The top scientists in the world are baffled-and they can't stop it. This nightmarish scenario becomes reality in the year 2241. The remnants of the biological catastrophe caused by FS Syndrome have created a world where any type of intimacy is strictly prohibited. It is here that Susan 170 and Bob 162, two very different people, fall in love with each other. Follow their saga as they attempt the unthinkable possibility of a physical relationship and as they are pursued by two ruthless, unrelenting police officers out to protect society by destroying them. Can the compass of life determine the future of these individuals and this world?
