1DTIC ADA223076: Early MPT Estimation Methods: An Evaluation Of The LHX Test-Bed Research Program. Volumes 1 And 2

By

The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI) has been a major sponsor of research efforts to develop MANPRINT methods. This report describes a program initiated in early 1985 that focused on the development and testing of analytic and predictive MANPRINT-manpower requirements methods. Since the program used LHX acquisition data in methodology development, a second goal was to apply prototype products in support of the LHX Program Manager efforts to analyze LHX manpower requirements. The total effort resulted in seven interrelated projects, including the development of three software tools--the Transition Training model, the Electronic Aids to Maintenance (EAM) model, and Manpower and Mission Capability (MANCAP) model. The Transition Training model is a scheduling tool that estimates the training resources required and average unit readiness downtime given a particular unit training schedule. The EAM is a spreadsheet-based Administrative and Logistics Delay Time model that incorporates potential BIT failures in the failure and repair sequence, allowing for the examination of the impact of EAM performance deficiencies on LHX aircraft availability. The MANCAP model is a computer-based model that estimates mission capability of a weapon system based upon weapon system characteristics, operating organization characteristics, and mission performance profiles. Keywords: LHX; Manpower requirements; MANPRINT; EAM; MANCAP; Transition training.

2NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS) 19720011315: Pyrotechnic Hazards Classification And Evaluation Program. Phase 3, Segments 1-4: Investigation Of Sensitivity Test Methods And Procedures For Pyrotechnic Hazards Evaluation And Classification, Part A

By

The findings, conclusions, and recommendations relative to the investigations conducted to evaluate tests for classifying pyrotechnic materials and end items as to their hazard potential are presented. Information required to establish an applicable means of determining the potential hazards of pyrotechnics is described. Hazard evaluations are based on the peak overpressure or impulse resulting from the explosion as a function of distance from the source. Other hazard classification tests include dust ignition sensitivity, impact ignition sensitivity, spark ignition sensitivity, and differential thermal analysis.

11DTIC ADA130701: LANN (Lockheed, AFWAL, NASA-Langley, And NLR) Wing Test Program: Acquisition And Application Of Unsteady Transonic Data For Evaluation Of Three-Dimensional Computational Methods.

By

This report describes the LANN (Lockheed, AFWAL, NASA-Langley, and NLR) wind tunnel test program. The objective of this program was to acquire a comprehensive experimental data base on a modern, transport type wing in steady and unsteady transonic flow. Details of the model geometry and structural properties are documented. Initial correlations of portions of this data base with numerical results generated by two state-of-the-art computational aerodynamics computer programs are presented. (Author)

13NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS) 19860015629: Studies Related To Ocean Dynamics. Task 3.2: Aircraft Field Test Program To Investigate The Ability Of Remote Sensing Methods To Measure Current/wind-wave Interactions

By

The feasibility of remote sensing of current flows in the ocean and the remote sensing of ocean currents by backscattering cross section techniques was studied. It was established that for capillary waves, small scale currents could be accurately measured through observation of wave kinematics. Drastic modifications of waves by changing currents were noted. The development of new methods for the measurement of capillary waves are discussed. Improvement methods to resolve data processing problems are suggested.
