Knowledge workers are personnel who perform business processes that involve the use of information resources to generate a product that is itself some form of manipulated information. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Construction Engineering Research Laboratories (USACERL) is conducting research and development on a performance support environment for knowledge workers called the Knowledge Worker System (KWS) that enables workgroups to define the tasks, information resources, institutional knowledge, and computer applications required to perform their business processes. KWS provides the capability for knowledge workers to define associations ("attachments") between a task and the information resources required to execute their tasks. Attachments allow knowledge workers to access documents while executing a task, and can be associated with any electronically stored information resource from anywhere within the KWS process model. This research: (1) developed a strategy for providing KWS users with improved attachment management capabilities and (2) developed methods to implement this strategy through a series of modifications to KWS Version 2.0, now available to KWS users.

This document presents the methodology and literature review for the research report "Classroom Management Strategies to Address the Needs of Sudanese Refugee Learners" (ED499673), which examined the extent to which English language, literacy and numeracy teachers used classroom management strategies to meet the needs of adult Sudanese refugee learners. This study utilised a qualitative approach to identify existing classroom management practices in the field, to explore the complexities surrounding such practices with a view to gaining new perspectives, and to identify ways of changing or improving practice in the light of the study's findings. Participants in this study consisted of specialist English language, literacy and numeracy teachers in Western Australia and New South Wales currently teaching Sudanese refugee learners and people with expertise in refugee issues or in community work with Sudanese refugees. Data for analysis was gathered from the following sources: (1) electronic survey; (2) telephone interviews; and (3) consultations with experts (face to face, telephone and email). This document contains a detailed account of the processes and findings from all three of the above sources of information. It also includes the research instruments used for the electronic survey and the semi-structured telephone interviews. (Contains 24 tables.) Previous automated classified document systems developed commercially or in-house to serve classified libraries with 50,000 documents or less, have been limited by excessive cost or insufficient functionality. The problem addri-s-d by this research was to improve the automated systems available to classified libra.., - .'1 50,000 documents or less, by upgrading the Library Document System (LDS) to meet the tracking and document search needs of librarians. The approach taken was to first conduct a survey of 25 classified libraries tc assess their document tracking procedures and requirements. Next, a thorough e/camination of the commercial and in-house automated classified document systems was performed to determine the state of solutions available. Finally, a strategy for modifying LDS was outlined to incorporate the tracking and document search features desired, using modem relational database constructs, structured programming techniques, and user-friendly interface design. As a result of this work, LDS was upgraded to fulfill the needs of classified librarians with 50,000 documents or less. In particular the schemata of the system were extended, a sophisticated search facility was implemented, and a mouse-oriented user-friendly interface was provided.

The paper discusses the design and development of an electronic document management system (EDMS) that prepares documents for sharing and information dissemination. EDMS has to do with capturing, storing, indexing, retrieval, and disposal of documents. The electronic document management system process starts by converting paper document into digital record to efficiently store and organize document in standardized file structure and format, promoting a paper waste reduction in reproducing the document. The EDMS provided an easier way of sharing information with different stakeholders and securing documents according to standardized compliance rules. The developed system has also improved the accessing of vital documents by users since there is real-time information distribution of information and easy searching and retrieving of needed documents.

It is divided into two sections, each of which describes the main aims and expected activities and outcomes of CEDEFOP projects and the activities of its networks in 2000. The first focuses on developing knowledge and expertise which outlines the themes and content of CEDEFOP projects within the four priority themes. Projects are centered around these themes in the medium-term priorities: promoting competence and lifelong learning; facilitating new ways of learning for a changing society; supporting employment and competitiveness; and improving European understanding and transparency. The second section focuses on serving customers, partners, and policymakers and fostering research cooperation. The diagnosis of COPD is based on the presence of respiratory symptoms and/or a history of exposure to risk factors, and the demonstration of airflow obstruction by spirometry. GARD of WHO has defined COPD "a preventable and treatable disease". The integration among general practitioner, chest physician as well as other specialists, whenever required, assures the best management of the COPD person, when specific targets to be achieved are well defined in a diagnostic and therapeutic route, previously designed and shared with appropriateness. The first-line pharmacologic treatment of COPD is represented by inhaled long-acting bronchodilators. In symptomatic patients, with pre-bronchodilator FEV1 < 60% predicted and ≥ 2 exacerbations/year, ICS may be added to LABA. The use of fixed-dose, single-inhaler combination may improve the adherence to treatment. Long term oxygen therapy (LTOT) is indicated in stable patients, at rest while receiving the best possible treatment, and exhibiting a PaO2 ≤ 55 mmHg (SO2

Storage, maintenance, updating and retrieval of documents becomes difficult as the amount of data gets larger with time. The data when stored in a digital format lacks authenticity and thereby compromising security at a large scale. Thus, as a technological solution for this problem, this project comes with efficient management methods. An ideal software should fill the gap between security and efficiency. The data should be available in desired time units and to all the intended users. This project is an attempt of solving all the problems in a software meant for an institute (educational institute). Presented in booklet and chart form is the Behavioral Characteristics Progression (BCP), part of the Santa Cruz Special Education Management Project, consisting of 2400 observable traits grouped into 50 behavioral strands. The BCP is seen to be a nonstandardized criterion referenced tool which replaces conventional age and disability labels with observed attainment on the progressive behavioral objectives. The reverse side of the chart details procedures for teacher use of the BCP which include preliminary preparation, observation and recording, determination of instructional objectives, and continued charting during instruction.
