This paper describes a program implemented at the James Madison University (Virginia), Department of Special Education, to train student teachers to manage aggressive and violent behavior. Training in the Alternatives for Handling Aggressive and Violent Behavior (A-HAV-B) Approach involves a three-credit behavior management course, certification in the Mandt System for Managing People, and student teaching experience. The behavior management course teaches competencies in four major approaches to handling misbehavior: preventative planning; anticipatory response techniques; assertiveness; and systematic interventions. The Mandt System teaches both nonphysical techniques (including body positioning, attitude, and verbal and nonverbal communication) and physical techniques (focusing on protecting and managing without attempting to control the aggressor). Trainees in the A-HAV-B program serve a 75-hour internship at a state-operated residential facility for youth with emotional disturbances, and have access to Mandt trainers as mentors and student teaching supervisors. Trainees report high degrees of confidence and effectiveness in using the A-HAV-B techniques with children and youth in a variety of settings. The course outline is attached. (PB)

Auriea Harvey is 1/2 (with husband Michaël Samyn) of Tale of Tales, a critically-acclaimed interactive art/formerly videogame studio - known for such games as The Path and Luxuria Superbia  - now working on a series of interactive cathedrals within VR titled "Cathedral In The Clouds". Tale of Tales caused a stir last year after the release of their game Sunset by deciding to leave videogame development , due to lack of financial support, both from losing arts grants in Belgium and bad sales, and long-standing hostility towards their work in the sphere of videogames.  Auriea talks with me about what she's been doing after their recent departure from videogames, trying to find a purpose for making art within the tumultuous cultural landscape of 2016, and finding contemporary ways to access the divine within new technologies like VR. This Introduction opens the book {\sl Standing Together in Troubled Times} which presents a story of friendship between Wolfgang Pauli, one of the greatest theoretical physicists of the 20th century, and Charlotte Houtermans. They met at the very onset of the quantum era, in the late 1920s in Germany where Charlotte was a physics student at G\"ottingen University. At that time G\"ottingen was right at the heart of groundbreaking developments in physics. Both Pauli and Houtermans personally knew major participants in the quantum revolution. Caught between two evils -- German National Socialism and Soviet Communism -- Charlotte Houtermans would have likely perished if it were not for the brotherhood of physicists: Niels Bohr, Wolfgang Pauli, Albert Einstein, James Franck, Max Born, Robert Oppenheimer and many other noted scientists who tried to save friends and colleagues (either leftist sympathizers or Jews) who were in mortal danger of becoming entrapped in a simmering pre-WWII Europe. This book is based on newly discovered documents from the Houtermans family archive, including Pauli's numerous letters to Houtermans, her correspondence with other great physicists, her diaries, and interviews with her children. Almost all documents presented in this book are being published for the first time.
