We construct noncommutative versions of both the minimal and the new minimal supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories. The enveloping-algebra formalism is used to carry out such constructions. The beautiful formulation of the Higgs sector of these noncommutative theories is a consequence of fact that, in the GUTs at hand, the ordinary Higgs fields can be realized as elements of the Clifford algebra Cl10(C). In the noncommutative supersymmetric GUTs we formulate, supersymmetry is linearly realized by the noncommutative fields; but it is not realized by the ordinary fields that define those noncommutative fields via the Seiberg-Witten map.

Job-embedded professional learning throughout educators' careers for culturally relevant pedagogical knowledge and skill acquisition is necessary to support historically marginalized and minoritized students. Transforming culturally responsive practices from knowledge into skill requires time, self-reflection, and examining one's own bias. When studying culturally responsive professional learning, Parkhouse and colleagues (2023) found teachers needed to develop content knowledge in addition to culturally responsive strategies to make connections between curriculum and student lives. Additionally, they found: (1) time and space for collaboration during the learning process was necessary so educators can support and challenge each other; (2) professional learning should include opportunities to learn about systemic racism to better understand student experiences; and (3) time was needed to engage in culturally responsive action research. Action research encouraged teachers to implement new practices and reassess their own reactions to student behavior and build relationships. He and Bagwell (2023) found collaboration is an essential component noting it was equally important for facilitators to create space for inclusive discussions and for conflict and debate. Engaging in job-embedded culturally responsive professional learning influences teacher self-efficacy and is correlated with employing culturally responsive teaching in practice (Comstock et al., 2023). Research indicates adaptive, collaborative, individualized, and job-embedded professional learning can build teacher confidence and overcome systemic barriers to the implementation of culturally responsive practices (Baize, 2023). Specifically, Broemmel and colleagues (2022) capture the need for affirmation through coaching and mentorship in the study's title, "It took someone telling me that I could do it". This paper considers shifted inverse determinant sums arising from the union bound of the pairwise error probability for space-time codes in multiple-antenna fading channels. Previous work by Vehkalahti et al. focused on the approximation of these sums for low multiplexing gains, providing a complete classification of the inverse determinant sums as a function of constellation size for the most well-known algebraic space-time codes. This work aims at building a general framework for the study of the shifted sums for all multiplexing gains. New bounds obtained using dyadic summing techniques suggest that the behavior of the shifted sums does characterize many properties of a lattice code such as the diversity-multiplexing gain trade-off, both under maximum-likelihood decoding and infinite lattice naive decoding. Moreover, these bounds allow to characterize the signal-to-noise ratio thresholds corresponding to different diversity gains.

Biochemical networks are the analog computers of life. They allow living cells to control a large number of biological processes, such as gene expression and cell signalling. In biochemical networks, the concentrations of the components are often low. This means that the discrete nature of the reactants and the stochastic character of their interactions have to be taken into account. Moreover, the spatial distribution of the components can be of crucial importance. However, the current numerical techniques for simulating biochemical networks either ignore the particulate nature of matter or treat the spatial fluctuations in a mean-field manner. We have developed a new technique, called Green's Function Reaction Dynamics (GFRD), that makes it possible to simulate biochemical networks at the particle level and in both time and space. In this scheme, a maximum time step is chosen such that only single particles or pairs of particles have to be considered. For these particles, the Smoluchowski equation can be solved analytically using Green's functions. The main idea of GFRD is to exploit the exact solution of the Smoluchoswki equation to set up an event-driven algorithm. This allows GFRD to make large jumps in time when the particles are far apart from each other. Here, we apply the technique to a simple model of gene expression. The simulations reveal that the scheme is highly efficient. Under biologically relevant conditions, GFRD is up to six orders of magnitude faster than conventional particle-based techniques for simulating biochemical networks in time and space.

It employs: (1) a nontraditional formulation of the conservation laws in which space and time are treated on the same footing, and (2) a nontraditional use of discrete variables such as numerical marching can be carried out by using a set of relations that represents both local and global flux conservation.

The proposed Dynamic Theory adopts generalizations of the three classical thermodynamic laws and is shown to produce a unique unifying effect by displaying that the fundamental principles of Newtonian and relativistic mechanics, Einstein's General Theory, Maxwell's electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum effects occur as special cases. This not only reduces the number of fundamental assumptions but presents a new view of the interrelationship of the different branches of physics.

Five 1D and six 2D problems are considered to examine the capability and robustness of these schemes. Despite their simple logical structures and low computational cost (for the 2D CE/SE shock-capturing scheme, the CPU time is about 2 micro-secs per mesh point per marching step on a Cray C90 machine), the numerical results, when compared with experimental data, exact solutions or numerical solutions by other methods, indicate that these schemes can accurately resolve shock and contact discontinuities consistently.

In addition, the straightforward multidimensional extensions of the present 1D NRBCs have been shown numerically to be equally simple and robust. The paper details the theoretical underpinning of these NRBCs, and explains t heir unique robustness and accuracy in terms of t he conservation of space-time fluxes. Some numerical results for an extended Sod's shock-tube problem, illustrating the effectiveness of the present NRBCs are included, together with an associated simple Fortran computer program. As a preliminary to the present development, a review of the basic CE/SE schemes is also included.

The method of space-time conservation element and solution element is a nontraditional numerical method designed from a physicist's perspective, i.e., its development is based more on physics than numerics. It uses only the simplest approximation techniques and yet is capable of generating nearly perfect solutions for a 2-D shock reflection problem used by Helen Yee and others. In addition to providing an overall view of the new method, we introduce a new concept in the design of implicit schemes, and use it to construct a highly accurate solver for a convection-diffusion equation. It is shown that, in the inviscid case, this new scheme becomes explicit and its amplification factors are identical to those of the Leapfrog scheme. On the other hand, in the pure diffusion case, its principal amplification factor becomes the amplification factor of the Crank-Nicolson scheme.

It was designed to avoid the limitations of the traditional methods. and was built from round zero with extensive physics considerations. Nevertheless, its foundation is mathmatically simple enough that one can build from it a coherent, robust. efficient and accurate numerical framework. Two basic beliefs that set the new method apart from the established methods are at the core of its development. The first belief is that, in order to capture physics more efficiently and realistically, the modeling, focus should be placed on the original integral form of the physical conservation laws, rather than the differential form. The latter form follows from the integral form under the additional assumption that the physical solution is smooth, an assumption that is difficult to realize numerically in a region of rapid chance. such as a boundary layer or a shock. The second belief is that, with proper modeling of the integral and differential forms themselves, the resulting, numerical solution should automatically be consistent with the properties derived front the integral and differential forms, e.g., the jump conditions across a shock and the properties of characteristics. Therefore a much simpler and more robust method can be developed by not using the above derived properties explicitly.

This new approach differs substantially in both concept and methodology from the well-established methods, i.e., finite difference, finite volume, finite element, and spectral methods. It is motivated by several important physical/numerical considerations and designed to avoid several key limitations of the above traditional methods. As a result of the above considerations, a set of key principles for the design of numerical schemes was put forth in a previous report. These principles were used to construct several numerical schemes that model a 1-D time-dependent convection-diffusion equation. These schemes were then extended to solve the time-dependent Euler and Navier-Stokes equations of a perfect gas. It was shown that the above schemes compared favorably with the traditional schemes in simplicity, generality, and accuracy. In this report, the 2-D versions of the above schemes, except the Navier-Stokes solver, are constructed using the same set of design principles. Their constructions are simplified greatly by the use of a nontraditional space-time mesh. Its use results in the simplest stencil possible, i.e., a tetrahedron in a 3-D space-time with a vertex at the upper time level and other three at the lower time level. Because of the similarity in their design, each of the present 2-D solvers virtually shares with its 1-D counterpart the same fundamental characteristics. Moreover, it is shown that the present Euler solver is capable of generating highly accurate solutions for a famous 2-D shock reflection problem. Specifically, both the incident and the reflected shocks can be resolved by a single data point without the presence of numerical oscillations near the discontinuity.

The official practice of numbering the years in sequence started with the emperor Seleucus. He chose 311 B.C.E., the year he came to power, as the year One. The Seleucid system was adopted by the Jews of Babylon who referred to this newly accepted practice as the "era of dating legal documents".
