2Improved Determination Of The $D \to K^-\pi^+\pi^+\pi^-$ Coherence Factor And Associated Hadronic Parameters From A Combination Of $e^+e^-\to \psi(3770)\to C\bar{c}$ And $pp \to C \bar{c} X$ Data
By T. Evans, S. T. Harnew, J. Libby, S. Malde, J. Rademacker and G. Wilkinson
Measurements of the coherence factor $R_{K3\pi}$, the average strong-phase difference $\delta^{K3\pi}_D$ and mean amplitude ratio $r_D^{K3\pi}$ for the decay $D \to K^-\pi^+\pi^+\pi^-$ are presented. These parameters are important inputs to the determination of the unitarity triangle angle $\gamma$ in $B^- \to DK^-$ decays, where $D$ designates a superposition of $D^0$ and $\bar{D}{}^0$ mesons decaying to a common final state. The results are based on a combined fit to observables obtained from a re-analysis of the CLEO-c $\psi(3770)$ data set and those measured in a $D^0\bar{D}^0$ mixing study performed by the LHCb collaboration.

3Constraining GRB Initial Lorentz Factor With The Afterglow Onset Feature And Discovery Of A Tight Gamma_0-E_iso Correlation
By En-Wei Liang, Shuang-xi Yi, Jin Zhang, Hou-Jun LV, Bin-Bin Zhang and Bing Zhang
The onset of GRB afterglow is characterized by a smooth bump in the early afterglow lightcurve. We make an extensive search for such a feature. Twenty optically selected GRBs and 12 X-ray selected GRBs are found, among which 17 optically selected GRBs and 2 X-ray-selected GRBs have redshift measurements. We fit the lightcurves with a smooth broken power-law and measure the temporal characteristic timescales of the bumps at FWHM. Strong mutual correlations among these timescales are found, and a dimmer and broader bump tends to peak at a later peak time. The ratio of rising to decaying timescales is almost universal among bursts, but the ratio of the rising time to the peak time varies from 0.3~1. The E_iso is tightly correlated with the peak luminosity and the peak time of the bump in the burst frame. Assuming that the bumps signal the deceleration of the GRB fireballs in a constant density medium, we calculate the initial Lorentz factor (Gamma_0) and the deceleration radius (R_dec) of the GRBs in the optical-selected sample. It is found that Gamma_0 are typically a few hundreds, and the typical deceleration radius is R_dec~10^{17} cm. More intriguingly, a tight correlation between the Gamma_0 and E_iso is found, namely Gamma_0 ~ 195 E_iso, 52}^{0.27} (satisfied for both the optical and X-ray z-known samples). It is helpful to understand GRB physics, and may serve as an indicator of Gamma_0. We find that the early bright X-rays are usually dominated by a different component from the external shock emission, but occasionally (for one case) an achromatic deceleration feature is observed. Components in X-rays would contribute to the diversity of the observed X-ray lightcurves (abridge).

7Rho^0-gamma Mixing In The Neutral Channel Pion Form Factor |F_pi|^2 And Its Role In Comparing E^+ E^- With Tau Spectral Functions
By Fred Jegerlehner and Robert Szafron
We study the effect of rho^0-gamma mixing in e^+e^- to pi^+pi^- and its relevance for the comparison of the square modulus of the pion from-factor |F^(e)_pi|^2, as measured in e^+e^- annihilation experiments, and |F^(tau)_pi|^2 the corresponding quantity obtained after accounting for known isospin breaking effects by an isospin rotation from the tau-decay spectra. After correcting the tau data for the missing rho-gamma mixing contribution, besides the other known isospin symmetry violating corrections, the pi pi I=1 part of the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon g-2 are fully compatible between tau based and e^+e^- based evaluations. tau data thus confirm result obtained with e^+e^- data. Our evaluation based on all e^+e^- data including more recent BaBar and KLOE data yields a_mu^(had)=690.75(4.72) x 10^{-10} (e^+e^- based), while including tau data we find a_mu^(had)=690.96(4.65) X 10^{-10} (e^+e^-+tau based). This backs the ~3 sigma deviation between theory and experiment. For the tau di-pion branching fraction we find B^{CVC}_{pi pi^0}=25.20 \pm0.0.17\pm0.28 from e^+e^-+CVC, while B_{pi pi^0}=25.34\pm0.0.06\pm0.08 is evaluated directly from the tau spectra.

8Measurement Of The $D^0 \to \pi^- E^+ \nu_e$ Differential Decay Branching Fraction As A Function Of $q^2$ And Study Of Form Factor Parameterizations
By J. P. Lees
Based on a sample of 500 million $e^+e^- \to c\bar c$ events recorded by the BaBar detector at c.m. energies of close to 10.6 GeV, we report on a study of the decay $D^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu_e$. We measure the ratio of branching fractions $R_D = {\cal B}(D^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu_e)/{\cal B}(D^0 \to K^- \pi^+) = 0.0713 \pm 0.0017_{stat.} \pm 0.0024_{syst.}$, and use the present world average for ${\cal B}(D^0 \to K^- \pi^+)$ to obtain ${\cal B}(D^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu_e) = (2.770 \pm 0.068_{{\rm stat.}} \pm 0.092_{{\rm syst.}} \pm 0.037_{{\rm ext.}})\times 10^{-3}$ where the third error accounts for the uncertainty on the branching fraction for the reference channel. The measured dependence of the differential branching fraction on $q^2$, the four-momentum transfer squared between the $D$ and the $\pi$ meson, is compared to various theoretical predictions for the hadronic form factor, $f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2)$, and the normalization $|V_{cd}| \times f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2=0)=0.1374\pm0.0038_{{\rm stat.}} \pm0.0022_{{\rm syst.}} \pm0.0009_{{\rm ext.}}$ is extracted from a fit to data. Using the most recent LQCD prediction of $f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2=0)=0.666 \pm 0.029$, we obtain $|V_{cd}|=0.206 \pm 0.007_{\rm exp.} \pm 0.009_{\rm LQCD}$. Assuming instead, $|V_{cd}|=|V_{us}|=0.2252 \pm 0.0009$, we obtain $f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2=0)=0.610 \pm 0.020_{\rm exp.} \pm 0.005_{\rm ext.}$. The $q^2$ dependence of $f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2)$ is compared to a variety of multi-pole parameterizations. This information is applied to $B^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu_e$ decays and, combined with an earlier $B^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu_e$ measurement by BaBar, is used to derive estimates of $|V_{ub}|$.

10The $η_cγγ^*$ Transition Form Factor In The Decay $η_c\to Γ\ell^+\ell^-$ And In The Crossed Channels $γe^-\to Η_c E^- $ And $e^+e^-\toη_cγ
By Elvio Di Salvo, Michail P. Rekalo and Egle Tomasi-Gustafsson
The Dalitz distribution and the effective mass spectrum of the lepton pair produced in the decay $\eta_c\to \gamma \ell^+ \ell^-$, as well as the differential cross sections for the crossed channels $\gamma e^-\to \eta_c e^- $ and $e^+ e^-\to \eta_c \gamma$, are calculated in terms of the sole electromagnetic transition form factor for the vertex $\eta_c\to\gamma \gamma^*$, where $\gamma^*$ is a virtual photon with a space-like (for $\gamma e^- \to \eta_c e^- $) or a time-like (for $e^+ e^-\to \eta_c \gamma$ and $\eta_c\to\gamma \ell^+\ell^-$) four-momentum. Explicit parametrisations of the transition form factor are found in two different approaches, namely in Vector Dominance Model and in a QCD-inspired consideration on the basis of the process $c \bar{c}\to \gamma \ell^+ \ell^-$, with zero relative three-momentum of the annihilating quarks.

11Measurement Of The Q2 Dependence Of The Hadronic Form Factor In D0 --> K- E+ Nu_e Decays
By The BABAR Collaboration and B. Aubert
We present a preliminary measurement of the q2 dependence of the D0 --> K- e+ nu_e decay rate. This rate is proportional to the hadronic form factor squared, specified by a single parameter. This is either the mass in the simple pole ansatz m_pole = (1.854 +- 0.016 +- 0.020) GeV/c2 or the scale in the modified pole ansatz alpha_pole = 0.43 +- 0.03 +- 0.04. The first error refers to the statistical, the second to the systematic uncertainty.

We present an updated extraction of the proton electromagnetic form factor ratio, mu_p G_E/G_M, at low Q^2. The form factors are sensitive to the spatial distribution of the proton, and precise measurements can be used to constrain models of the proton. An improved selection of the elastic events and reduced background contributions yielded a small systematic reduction in the ratio mu_p G_E/G_M compared to the original analysis.

A measurement of the vector to pseudoscalar conversion decay $\phi \to \pi^0 e^+e^-$ with the KLOE experiment is presented. A sample of $\sim 9500$ signal events was selected from a data set of 1.7 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} \sim m_{\phi}$ collected at the DA$\Phi$NE $e^+e^-$ collider. These events were used to obtain the first measurement of the transition form factor $| F_{\phi \pi^0}(q^2) |$ and a new measurement of the branching ratio of the decay: $\rm{BR}\,(\phi \to \pi^0 e^+e^-) = (\,1.35 \pm 0.05^{\,\,+0.05}_{\,\,-0.10}\,) \times 10 ^{-5}$. The result improves significantly on previous measurements and is in agreement with theoretical predictions.

The charge form factor of the neutron has been determined from asymmetries measured in quasi--elastic pol.3He(pol e,e'n) at a momentum transfer of 0.67(GeV/c)^2. In addition, the target analyzing power, A_y^o, has been measured to study effects of final state interactions and meson exchange currents.

The electric form factor of the neutron was determined from studies of the reaction He3(e,e'n)pp in quasi-elastic kinematics in Hall A at Jefferson Lab. Longitudinally polarized electrons were scattered off a polarized target in which the nuclear polarization was oriented perpendicular to the momentum transfer. The scattered electrons were detected in a magnetic spectrometer in coincidence with neutrons that were registered in a large-solid-angle detector. More than doubling the Q2-range over which it is known, we find GEn = 0.0225 +/- 0.0017 (stat) +/- 0.0024 (syst), 0.0200 +/- 0.0023 +/- 0.0018, and 0.0142 +/- 0.0019 +/- 0.0013 for Q2 = 1.72, 2.48, and 3.41 GeV2, respectively.

21The UmuC Subunit Of The E. Coli DNA Polymerase V Shows A Unique Interaction With The ?-clamp Processivity Factor.
By Patoli, Atif A, Winter, Jody A and Bunting, Karen A
This article is from BMC Structural Biology , volume 13 . Abstract Background: Strict regulation of replisome components is essential to ensure the accurate transmission of the genome to the next generation. The sliding clamp processivity factors play a central role in this regulation, interacting with both DNA polymerases and multiple DNA processing and repair proteins. Clamp binding partners share a common peptide binding motif, the nature of which is essentially conserved from phage through to humans. Given the degree of conservation of these motifs, much research effort has focussed on understanding how the temporal and spatial regulation of multiple clamp binding partners is managed. The bacterial sliding clamps have come under scrutiny as potential targets for rational drug design and comprehensive understanding of the structural basis of their interactions is crucial for success. Results: In this study we describe the crystal structure of a complex of the E. coli β-clamp with a 12-mer peptide from the UmuC protein. UmuC is the catalytic subunit of the translesion DNA polymerase, Pol V (UmuD’2C). Due to its potentially mutagenic action, Pol V is tightly regulated in the cell to limit access to the replication fork. Atypically for the translesion polymerases, both bacterial and eukaryotic, Pol V is heterotrimeric and its β-clamp binding motif (357 QLNLF 361) is internal to the protein, rather than at the more usual C-terminal position. Our structure shows that the UmuC peptide follows the overall disposition of previously characterised structures with respect to the highly conserved glutamine residue. Despite good agreement with the consensus β-clamp binding motif, distinct variation is shown within the hydrophobic binding pocket. While UmuC Leu-360 interacts as noted in other structures, Phe-361 does not penetrate the pocket at all, sitting above the surface. Conclusion: Although the β-clamp binding motif of UmuC conforms to the consensus sequence, variation in its mode of clamp binding is observed compared to related structures, presumably dictated by the proximal aspartate residues that act as linker to the poorly characterised, unique C-terminal domain of UmuC. Additionally, interactions between Asn-359 of UmuC and Arg-152 on the clamp surface may compensate for the reduced interaction of Phe-361.

22The Transverse Asymmetry $\bf A_{\bf T'}$ From Quasi-elastic $^3\vec{\rm He}(\vec{e},e')$ Process And The Neutron Magnetic Form Factor
By W. Xu
We have measured the transverse asymmetry from inclusive scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from polarized 3He nuclei at quasi-elastic kinematics in Hall A at Jefferson Lab with high statistical and systematic precision. The neutron magnetic form factor was extracted based on Faddeev calculations with an experimental uncertainty of less than 2 %.

23Measurement Of The Hadronic Form Factor In D0 --> K- E+ Nue Decays
By The BABAR Collaboration and B. Aubert
The shape of the hadronic form factor f+(q2) in the decay D0 --> K- e+ nue has been measured in a model independent analysis and compared with theoretical calculations. We use 75 fb(-1) of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEPII electron-positron collider. The corresponding decay branching fraction, relative to the decay D0 --> K- pi+, has also been measured to be RD = BR(D0 --> K- e+ nue)/BR(D0 --> K- pi+) = 0.927 +/- 0.007 +/- 0.012. From these results, and using the present world average value for BR(D0 --> K- pi+), the normalization of the form factor at q2=0 is determined to be f+(0)=0.727 +/- 0.007 +/- 0.005 +/- 0.007 where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from external inputs, respectively.

25Isospin Violating Effects In E+e- Vs. Tau Measurements Of The Pion Form Factor |F_pi|^2 (s)
By Stephane Ghozzi and Fred Jegerlehner
We study possible so far unaccounted isospin breaking effects in the relation between the pion form factor as determined in e^+e^- experiments and the corresponding quantity obtained after accounting for known isospin breaking effects by an isospin rotation from the tau--decay spectra. In fact the observed 10% discrepancy in the respective pion form factors may be explained by the isospin breaking which is due to the difference between masses and widths of the charged and neutral rho mesons. Since the hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment can be calculated directly in terms of the e^+e^- - data the corresponding evaluation seems to be more reliable. Our estimate is a_mu(had)=694.8(8.6) x 10^{-10}. The tau - data are usefull at the presently aimed level of accuracy only after appropriate input from theory.

Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the Born cross section of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow p\bar{p}$ at 12 center-of-mass energies from 2232.4 to 3671.0 MeV. The corresponding effective electromagnetic form factor of the proton is deduced under the assumption that the electric and magnetic form factors are equal $(|G_{E}|= |G_{M}|)$. In addition, the ratio of electric to magnetic form factors, $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$, and $|G_{M}|$ are extracted by fitting the polar angle distribution of the proton for the data samples with larger statistics, namely at $\sqrt{s}=$ 2232.4 and 2400.0 MeV and a combined sample at $\sqrt{s}$ = 3050.0, 3060.0 and 3080.0 MeV, respectively. The measured cross sections are in agreement with recent results from BaBar, improving the overall uncertainty by about 30\%. The $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ ratios are close to unity and consistent with BaBar results in the same $q^{2}$ region, which indicates the data are consistent with the assumption that $|G_{E}|=|G_{M}|$ within uncertainties.

We report on the first measurement of spin-correlation parameters in quasifree electron scattering from vector-polarized deuterium. Polarized electrons were injected into an electron storage ring at a beam energy of 720~MeV. A Siberian snake was employed to preserve longitudinal polarization at the interaction point. Vector-polarized deuterium was produced by an atomic beam source and injected into an open-ended cylindrical cell, internal to the electron storage ring. The spin correlation parameter A^V_{ed} was measured for the reaction \pol{2H}(\pol{e},e'n)p at a four-momentum transfer squared of 0.21 (GeV/c)^2 from which a value for the charge form factor of the neutron was extracted.

29Measurement Of The Charge Form Factor Of The Neutron $G^{E}_{n}$ From ${\vec{d}(\vec{e},e'n)p}$ At $Q^{2}=0.5$ And $1.0 (GeV/c)^{2}$
By N. Savvinov
We determined the electric form factor of the neutron $G_E^n$ via the reaction ${\vec{d}(\vec{e},e'n)p}$ using a longitudinally polarized electron beam and a frozen, polarized $^{15}ND_3$ target at Jefferson Lab. The knocked out neutrons were detected in a segmented plastic scintillator in coincidence with the quasi-elastically scattered electrons which were tracked in Hall C's High Momentum Spectrometer. To extract $G_E^n$, we compared the experimental beam--target asymmetry with theoretical calculations based on different $G_E^n$ models. We report the preliminary results of the fall 2001 run at $Q^{2}=0.5$ and $1.0 (GeV/c)^{2}$.

30ERIC EJ1069210: Unorganized Cognitive Structures Of Illiterate As The Key Factor In Rural E-Learning Design
By ERIC
Cognitive Structures and Linguistic Sequential Memory or Memory of Serial Order are not very well developed among illiterate people contrary to educated people. It affects the comprehension of abstract ideas and the usability of the system. Therefore the cognitive limitations of illiterate must be considered for instructional design and user interface design to achieve better results out of rural e-learning. The paper also throws light on the reasons behind the unorganized cognitive structures of illiterate.

31A Measurement Of The Electric Form Factor Of The Neutron Through $\vec{d}(\vec{e},e'n)p$ At $Q^2 = 0.5$ (GeV/c)$^2$
By E93026 Collaboration and H. Zhu
We report the first measurement of the neutron electric form factor $G_E^n$ via $\vec{d}(\vec{e},e'n)p$ using a solid polarized target. $G_E^n$ was determined from the beam-target asymmetry in the scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from polarized deuterated ammonia, $^{15}$ND$_3$. The measurement was performed in Hall C at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF) in quasi free kinematics with the target polarization perpendicular to the momentum transfer. The electrons were detected in a magnetic spectrometer in coincidence with neutrons in a large solid angle segmented detector. We find $G_E^n = 0.04632\pm0.00616 (stat.) \pm0.00341 (syst.)$ at $Q^2 = 0.495$ (GeV/c)$^2$.

32Interferon Regulatory Factor-1 Together With Reactive Oxygen Species Promotes The Acceleration Of Cell Cycle Progression By Up-regulating The Cyclin E And CDK2 Genes During High Glucose-induced Proliferation Of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells.
By Zhang, Xi, Liu, Long, Chen, Chao, Chi, Ya-Li, Yang, Xiang-Qun, Xu, Yan, Li, Xiao-Tong, Guo, Shi-Lei, Xiong, Shao-Hu, Shen, Man-Ru, Sun, Yu, Zhang, Chuan-Sen and Hu, Kai-Meng
This article is from Cardiovascular Diabetology , volume 12 . Abstract Background: The high glucose-induced proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) plays an important role in the development of diabetic vascular diseases. In a previous study, we confirmed that Interferon regulatory factor-1 (Irf-1) is a positive regulator of the high glucose-induced proliferation of VSMCs. However, the mechanisms remain to be determined. Methods: The levels of cyclin/CDK expression in two cell models involving Irf-1 knockdown and overexpression were quantified to explore the relationship between Irf-1 and its downstream effectors under normal or high glucose conditions. Subsequently, cells were treated with high glucose/NAC, normal glucose/H2O2, high glucose/U0126 or normal glucose/H2O2/U0126 during an incubation period. Then proliferation, cyclin/CDK expression and cell cycle distribution assays were performed to determine whether ROS/Erk1/2 signaling pathway was involved in the Irf-1-induced regulation of VSMC growth under high glucose conditions. Results: We found that Irf-1 overexpression led to down-regulation of cyclin D1/CDK4 and inhibited cell cycle progression in VSMCs under normal glucose conditions. In high glucose conditions, Irf-1 overexpression led to an up-regulation of cyclin E/CDK2 and an acceleration of cell cycle progression, whereas silencing of Irf-1 suppressed the expression of both proteins and inhibited the cell cycle during the high glucose-induced proliferation of VSMCs. Treatment of VSMCs with antioxidants prevented the Irf-1 overexpression-induced proliferation of VSMCs, the up-regulation of cyclin E/CDK2 and the acceleration of cell cycle progression in high glucose conditions. In contrast, under normal glucose conditions, H2O2 stimulation and Irf-1 overexpression induced cell proliferation, up-regulated cyclin E/CDK2 expression and promoted cell cycle acceleration. In addition, overexpression of Irf-1 promoted the activation of Erk1/2 and when VSMCs overexpressing Irf-1 were treated with U0126, the specific Erk1/2 inhibitor abolished the proliferation of VSMCs, the up-regulation of cyclin E/CDK2 and the acceleration of cell cycle progression under high glucose or normal glucose/H2O2 conditions. Conclusions: These results demonstrate that the downstream effectors of Irf-1 are cyclin E/CDK2 during the high glucose-induced proliferation of VSMCs, whereas they are cyclin D1/CDK4 in normal glucose conditions. The Irf-1 overexpression-induced proliferation of VSMCs, the up-regulation of cyclin E/CDK2 and the acceleration of cell cycle progression are associated with ROS/Erk1/2 signaling pathway under high glucose conditions.

34High Precision Measurement Of The Proton Elastic Form Factor Ratio $μ_pG_E/G_M$ At Low $Q^2$

We report a new, high-precision measurement of the proton elastic form factor ratio \mu_p G_E/G_M for the four-momentum transfer squared Q^2 = 0.3-0.7 (GeV/c)^2. The measurement was performed at Jefferson Lab (JLab) in Hall A using recoil polarimetry. With a total uncertainty of approximately 1%, the new data clearly show that the deviation of the ratio \mu_p G_E/G_M from unity observed in previous polarization measurements at high Q^2 continues down to the lowest Q^2 value of this measurement. The updated global fit that includes the new results yields an electric (magnetic) form factor roughly 2% smaller (1% larger) than the previous global fit in this Q^2 range. We obtain new extractions of the proton electric and magnetic radii, which are ^(1/2)=0.875+/-0.010 fm and ^(1/2)=0.867+/-0.020 fm. The charge radius is consistent with other recent extractions based on the electron-proton interaction, including the atomic hydrogen Lamb shift measurements, which suggests a missing correction in the comparison of measurements of the proton charge radius using electron probes and the recent extraction from the muonic hydrogen Lamb shift.

35PWIA Extraction Of The Neutron Magnetic Form Factor From Quasi-Elastic 3He(e,e') At Q^2 = 0.3 To 0.6 (GeV/c)^2
By W. Xu
A high precision measurement of the transverse spin-dependent asymmetry A_{T'} in ^3 vec{He}(vec{e},e') quasielastic scattering was performed in Hall A at Jefferson Lab at values of the squared four-momentum transfer, Q^2, between 0.1 and 0.6 (GeV/c)^2. A_{T'} is sensitive to the neutron magnetic form factor, G_M^n. Values of G_M^n at Q^2 = 0.1 and 0.2 (GeV/c)^2, extracted using Faddeev calculations, were reported previously. Here, we report the extraction of G_M^n for the remaining Q^2-values in the range from 0.3 to 0.6 (GeV/c)^2 using a Plane-Wave Impulse Approximation calculation. The results are in good agreement with recent precision data from experiments using a deuterium target.

36Precise Method For The Determination Of The Neutron Electric Form Factor Based On A Relativistic Analysis Of The Process $d(e,e'n)p
By E. Tomasi-Gustafsson, G. I. Gakh, A. P. Rekalo and M. P. Rekalo
We generalize the recoil polarization method for the determination of the proton form factor to the case of the disintegration of vector polarized deuterons by longitudinally polarized electrons, $\vec d(\vec e, e'n)p$. We suggest to measure for this reaction, in the kinematics of quasi-elastic $en$-scattering, the ratio $R_{xz}=A_x/A_z$ of the asymmetries induced by the $x$- and $z$-components of the deuteron vector polarization. In the framework of the relativistic impulse approximation the ratio $R_{xz}$ is sensitive to $G_{En}$ in a wide interval of momentum transfer squared, whereas it depends weakly on the details of the $np$-interaction and on the choice of the deuteron wave function. Moreover, in the range $0.5\le Q^2\le$1.5 GeV$^2$, the ratio $R_{xz}$ shows a smooth dependence on $Q^2$, making the analysis simpler.

37Measurement Of The $D^0 \to \pi^-e^+\nu$ Branching Fraction, Form Factor And Implications For $V_{ub}$
By Arantza Oyanguren
In this talk results of the study of the $D^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu$ decay channel, recorded by the BaBar detector at the c.m. energy close to 10.6 GeV, are reported. The branching fraction of this channel is measured relative to the $D^0 \to K^- \pi^+$ decay. The hadronic form factor, $f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2)$, function of $q^2$, the four momentum transfer squared between the $D$ and the $\pi$ mesons, is compared to various theoretical predictions, and the normalization $V_{cd} \times f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2=0)$ is extracted from a fit to data. Results are compared with Lattice QCD calculations. A new multipole model is applied which makes use of present information of resonant states contributing to the form factor. With the understanding of the $f_{+,D}^{\pi}(q^2)$ form factor, and provided the relation between the $D^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu$ and $B^0 \to \pi^- e^+ \nu$ decay widths at the same pion energy, the CKM matrix element $V_{ub}$ is determined and compared to recent measurements. This method of extracting $V_{ub}$ will become competitive with new Lattice QCD calculations of the ratio of form factors.

We report on the first measurement of spin-correlation parameters in quasifree electron scattering from vector-polarized deuterium. Polarized electrons were injected into an electron storage ring at a beam energy of 720 MeV. A Siberian snake was employed to preserve longitudinal polarization at the interaction point. Vector-polarized deuterium was produced by an atomic beam source and injected into an open-ended cylindrical cell, internal to the electron storage ring. The spin correlation parameter $A^V_{ed}$ was measured for the reaction $^2 \vec{\rm H}(\vec e,e^\prime n)p$ at a four-momentum transfer squared of 0.21~(GeV/$c$)$^2$ from which a value for the charge form factor of the neutron was extracted.

39Manipulation Of The Land$\acute{\text{e}}$ G-factor In InAs Quantum Dots Through The Application Of Anisotropic Gate Potentials: Exact Diagonalization, Numerical And Perturbation Methods
By Sanjay Prabhakar, James E Raynolds and Roderick Melnik
We study the variation in the Land$\acute{\text{e}}$ g-factor of electron spins induced by both anisotropic gate potentials and magnetic fields in InAs quantum dots for possible implementation towards solid state quantum computing. In this paper, we present analytical expressions and numerical simulations of the variation in the Land$\acute{\text{e}}$ g-factor for both isotropic and anisotropic quantum dots. Using both analytical techniques and numerical simulations, we show that the Rashba spin-orbit coupling has a major contribution in the variation of the g-factor with electric fields before the regime, where level crossing or anticrossing occurs. In particular, the electric field tunability is shown to cover a wide range of g-factor through strong Rashba spin-orbit interaction. Another major result of this paper is that the anisotropic gate potential gives quenching effect in the orbital angular momentum that reduces the variation in the E-field and B-field tunability of the g-factor if the area of the symmetric and asymmetric quantum dots is held constant. We identify level crossings and anticrossings of the electron states in the variation of the Land$\acute{\text{e}}$ g-factor. We model the wavefunctions of electron spins and estimate the size of the anticrossing for the spin states $|0,-1,+1/2>$ and $|0,0,-1/2>$ corresponding to a quantum dot that has been recently studied experimentally (Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{104}, 246801 (2010)).

40Lineshape Of $e^+ E^-\to D^* \bar D+c.c.$ And Electromagnetic Form Factor Of $D^*\to D$ Transition In The Time-like Region
By Yuan-Jiang Zhang and Qiang Zhao
In this work, we apply the vector meson dominance (VMD) model to extract the electromagnetic time-like form factor of the $D^*\to D$ transition combining the recent Belle data for $e^+ e^-\to D^{*+} D^- + c.c.$ and data for $D^*\to D\gamma$. Two solutions are obtained in the interpretation of the cross section lineshape: i) With a relatively large coupling for $\psi D^*\bar{D}$ determined by experiment, destructive interferences among those charmonium components are required to bring down the overall cross sections, and then account for the cross section lineshape. ii) With a relatively small value for the $\psi D^*\bar{D}$ coupling based on heavy quark theory, an apparent cross section deficit near threshold is observed, and contributions from other mechanisms are needed. It might imply the presence of an additional resonance X(3900). Meanwhile, we also point out that an enhancement like that could be produced by the $D_s^*\bar{D_s}+c.c.$ open channel effects.

41The E-factor : Entrepreneurship In The Social Media Age
By Reinders, Adrie

43Extraction Of The Neutron Magnetic Form Factor From Quasi-Elastic 3He(pol)(e(pol),e') At Q^2 = 0.1 - 0.6 (GeV/c)^2
By Jefferson Lab E95-001 Collaboration
We have measured the spin-dependent transverse asymmetry, A_T', in quasi-elastic inclusive electron scattering from polarized 3He with high precision at Q^2 = 0.1 to 0.6 (GeV/c)^2. The neutron magnetic form factor, GMn, was extracted at Q^2 = 0.1 and 0.2 (GeV/c)^2 using a non-relativistic Faddeev calculation that includes both final-state interactions (FSI) and meson-exchange currents (MEC). In addition, GMn was extracted at Q^2 = 0.3 to 0.6 (GeV/c)^2 using a Plane Wave Impulse Approximation calculation. The accuracy of the modeling of FSI and MEC effects was tested and confirmed with a precision measurement of the spin-dependent asymmetry in the breakup threshold region of the 3He(pol)(e(pol),e') reaction. The total relative uncertainty of the extracted GMn data is approximately 3%. Close agreement was found with other recent high-precision GMn data in this Q^2 range.

47Factor Complexity Of S-adic Sequences Generated By The Arnoux-Rauzy-Poincar\'e Algorithm
By Valérie Berthé and Sébastien Labbé
The Arnoux-Rauzy-Poincar\'e multidimensional continued fraction algorithm is obtained by combining the Arnoux-Rauzy and Poincar\'e algorithms. It is a generalized Euclidean algorithm. Its three-dimensional linear version consists in subtracting the sum of the two smallest entries to the largest if possible (Arnoux-Rauzy step), and otherwise, in subtracting the smallest entry to the median and the median to the largest (the Poincar\'e step), and by performing when possible Arnoux-Rauzy steps in priority. After renormalization it provides a piecewise fractional map of the standard $2$-simplex. We study here the factor complexity of its associated symbolic dynamical system, defined as an $S$-adic system. It is made of infinite words generated by the composition of sequences of finitely many substitutions, together with some restrictions concerning the allowed sequences of substitutions expressed in terms of a regular language. Here, the substitutions are provided by the matrices of the linear version of the algorithm. We give an upper bound for the linear growth of the factor complexity. We then deduce the convergence of the associated algorithm by unique ergodicity.

49Measurement Of The Form-factor Ratios For D^+ -> \overline K^{*0}e^+ν_e
By Fermilab E791 Collaboration, E. M. Aitala and et. al
We present a measurement of the form-factor ratios r_V=V(0)/A_1(0) and r_2=A_2(0)/A_1(0) for the decay D^+ -> \overline K^{*0} e^+ \nu_e. The measurement is based on a signal of approximately 3000 $D^+ -> \overline K^{*0} e^+ \nu_e, \overline K^{*0} -> K^-\pi^+$ decays reconstructed in data from charm hadroproduction experiment E791 at Fermilab. The results are r_V = 1.84 +- 0.11 +- 0.08 and r_2 = 0.71 +- 0.08 +- 0.09.

50Alteration Of The E-Cadherin/?-Catenin Complex Is An Independent Poor Prognostic Factor In Lung Adenocarcinoma.
By Kim, Hyojin, Yoo, Seol Bong, Sun, Pingli, Jin, Yan, Jheon, Sanghoon, Lee, Choon Taek and Chung, Jin-Haeng
This article is from Korean Journal of Pathology , volume 47 . Abstract Background: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is an important step in the invasion and progression of cancer and in the development of chemoresistance by cancer cells. Methods: To address the clinical significance of the EMT pathway in lung adenocarcinoma and the association of the pathway with histological subtype, we examined 193 surgically resected lung adenocarcinoma samples for the expression of representative EMT-related proteins (E-cadherin, β-catenin, and vimentin) by immunohistochemistry. Histological subtypes were classified according to the 2011 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer/American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society classification. The results for EMT-related protein expression were analyzed for correlation with clinicopathological features and with survival. Results: The loss of E-cadherin expression and aberrant β-catenin expression were significantly associated with larger tumor size, pleural invasion, lymphatic/vascular invasion, and advanced pathological stage (p
