Adults are independent learners and are expected to direct their own learning. Nowadays, there are many MOOC platforms preferred by adult learners. Many states have adapted to these developments and established an online learning platform in order to carry out the training and development activities of civil servants. The Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Human Resources Office has established the Distance Learning Gate (DLG) platform in order to carry out educational activities. In this study, learning preferences of adult learners were determined in order to improve the relevant online learning environment and to structure appropriate trainings for public personnel. For this purpose, the training preferences of adult learners were determined according to their title groups and education levels. The participants of the research consisted of 4864 civil servants who received training from the DLG platform. According to the results, it was determined that adult learners preferred personal development training the most and professional development training in the last place. It is seen that the servants in the service title group that watched the most training in all categories according to the title groups. It is seen that the groups that received the least education are the senior manager and manager title group. On the other hand, it has been determined that the number of adult learners' training and the education categories differ according to the education level. According to the findings, it is seen that those who watched the most education are adults at the compulsory primary education level, while those who watched the least education are those who are at the graduate level. This research includes the first phase of a series of research and a design-based research. As a first step, the training preferences of adult learners were determined. In the next stage, a recommendation system will be integrated into the DLG platform based on the determined profiles.

3World Women’s Congress For A Healthy Planet: United Nations Conference On Environment And Development (UNCED) [14 In A Series Of 17]

By

These recordings are part of a series documenting the World Women’s Congress for a Healthy Planet, which was held in Miami, Florida, from November 8-12, 1991.  The conference was organized by the Women’s International Policy Action Committee (IPAC), a committee established by the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO).  The series comprises 17 audio cassette tapes resulting in 34 individual recordings (Sides A and B of each cassette).  All of these recordings are available on the Swarthmore College Peace Collection’s Sound Recordings page .  They have been separated according to topic, but all of the recording titles begin with “World Women’s Congress For A Healthy Planet.” SIDE A: World Women’s Congress For A Healthy Planet in Miami session that has a panel of women discussing the process of influencing the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). After introducing each panel member, the process of an non-governmental organization (NGO) becoming accredited is explained, as this allows the NGO to have greater influence. The risk of not being successful at the conference in Brazil is discussed, as well as the importance of solidarity, and mainstreaming women’s issues. The panelists’ closing comments are focussed on past participation in Brazil, strengthening U. N. activities, and the importance of honesty at the next prepcom. The recording finishes before the session completely finishes. This recording is side A of an audio cassette tape, the recording continues on side B, SCPC file audiocassette0356-14_b. This recording is one cassette in a series of 17.  The series begins with SCPC file audiocassette0356-01_a. SIDE B: Continuation of the session on influencing the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The host begins by emphasizing the importance of bringing as many women as possible to the fourth prepcom in New York, before introducing the next speaker, Chip Linda. He plays a video about logistical aspects regarding the 1992 U. N. Earth Summit in Brazil, which covers the accommodation of the guests, the venue, and technology. A second speaker discusses the importance of female involvement in Brazil, followed by a third speaker who covers the importance of the U. N. being held accountable in carrying out action plans over the next few years. A Question and Answer session ends the session, discussing environmental barriers to world trade, the importance of an integrated and holistic approach, and the lack of previous focus on trade-offs during conferences. The recording finishes before the session completely finishes. This recording is side B of an audio cassette tape, the recording begins on side A, SCPC file audiocassette0356-14_a. This recording is one cassette in a series of 17.  The series begins with SCPC file audiocassette0356-01_a NOTE: A searchable transcription is available for this recording.  See the pdf document in the “Download Options” box to the right.  If it does not appear in the list, click the “Show All” link.
