The goals of this study are as follows. First, we will test whether vulnerable groups (i.e., women, visible minorities, people with disabilities) experience greater illbeing (i.e., strain and work-life conflict) than non-vulnerable groups (i.e., men, Whites, people without disabilities) during the first wave of COVID-19. Second, we will also test if those with childcare responsibilities experience more work-life conflict and strain, compared with those with few childcare responsibilities. Third, we will test if the relation between vulnerable group status and (a) strain and (b) work-life conflict are mediated by job demands, job resources, life demands, and life resources. To purse this research question, the Job-Demands Resource Model will be used as it suggests having higher job demands and life demands, and lower job resources and life resources lead to increased ill-being (Bakker & Demerouti, 2017). Fourth, we will explore if the effects of vulnerable group status are moderated by childcare responsibility and dependent care status.

With the proposed research, we will explore how COVID-19 has created an untenable situation with respect to people's experiences work-life conflict and the negative consequences for their well-being and work outcomes. During COVID-19, many workers have been unable to continue having physical boundaries between their work and home domains, and many working parents have found their home roles to have expanded into schooling their children. Despite these issues, work and expectations for productivity have continued, and for many people, there are increased and/or new work responsibilities. We will test how these changes to work and home responsibilities substantially impact people's work-life conflict, stress, and burnout.

This document presents a guide to help students, who are entering the ninth grade, and their parents prepare for the transition from middle school to high school. The booklet is organized around a series of questions that students might ask themselves as they begin to plan for their high school careers. Each question is considered and discussed to help students make the appropriate decisions. Students are advised to consider what they might like to do as a career when they finish school, what basic skills they will need, whether they are learning the right things to help them in the future, and what courses they are required to take and what other courses might be useful to them. A section on subject areas offered in high school defines 17 possible subject areas, including agricultural education, computer education, English and language arts, mathematics, science, and technology education. A section on job areas that may be of interest to students lists example of jobs in each of the 14 general job areas defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. A grid is included to help students identify which subject areas in high school will help be useful to specific job areas. Three resources are listed for students desiring further information. (NB)

Rural schools in South Africa are often found on farms. These "farm schools" are usually erected by the farmer to educate the children of farm laborers. While officially public schools, farm schools are on private property and maintained through private funds. The history of farm schools is closely linked with the political history of South Africa. In 1987, 73 percent of all schools for Blacks were farm schools. The transition to democratic government and extensive educational changes implemented in 1996 resulted in an atmosphere of uncertainty. A study to determine the quality of the work-life of teachers on farm schools in South Africa during this period of change surveyed 60 teachers in 15 farm schools in 1 school district. Findings indicate that teachers in rural schools are generally satisfied with their circumstances and enjoy teaching; teachers are proud of their schools and have good relationships with students; teachers are proud to be teachers; there is a low level of frustration among teachers in rural schools; teachers in farm schools have a sense of belonging to a community; teachers seem to be satisfied with classroom size, physical facilities, and teacher-student ratios; support received by teachers from the principal is insufficient; principals do not play a big role in determining whether teachers experience the organizational climate as positive or negative; principals may experience uncertainty about their positions since the farmer owns the school and students are children of farm employees. This study examined the effect of work life balance on employee retention in deposit money banks. Specifically to examine the how work life balance enhance employee's work demands in deposit money banks and ascertain the work life balance improve on employees welfare packages in deposit money banks. The study employed survey research design and data were collected from questionnaires distributed to the targeted respondents. The formulated hypotheses were tested with paired sample t test with aid of SPSS version 20.0. The findings showed that there is significant effect between work life balance and employee's work demands and employee's welfare packages in deposit money banks. Based on the findings, it was recommended that banks should ensure that reward system to be fair to each employee, hence the study revealed that some of the respondents are not comfortable with the present compensation system in their institution where they worked.
