Teachers can use play and humor to establish a climate conducive to learning and mastering effective skills in interpersonal communication classes. A classroom, wherein everyone is considered a teacher and student at the same time, is a classroom acknowledging students, promoting respect and acceptance of others' worldview on a wide range of issues. Having fun role-playing and working together in dyadic or small group structured learning activities, students as well as teachers learn a great deal about interpersonal communication, enhance their interpersonal relationships, relieve tension, eliminate boredom, improve class attendance, ameliorate active participation, heighten self-awareness of the importance of others, increase self-confidence, and enjoy what they are doing. Using play and encouraging the application of a good sense of humor while playing, along with a careful consideration of the major factors of listening, affection, acceptance, respect, and timing, teachers and students would realize that it can be safe to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes.
