1ERIC ED132361: Transfer And Use Of Training Technology In Air Force Technical Training: A Model To Guide Training Development. Final Report.
By ERIC
This guide describes the final stage in a project to develop an Air Force technical training development model and presents the model. Chapter 1 summarizes the total project and its objective to facilitate the effective use of training technology through the development of a model for matching training approaches or innovations with specific training settings. Chapter 2 summarizes the final phase in which researchers selected six different training efforts at three different schools of applied aerospace science and observed the work of Air Force training developers, closely interacting with them and discussing the nature and problems of the training development process. Chapter 3 describes revision of the previously developed model on the basis of this research. Chapter 4 presents suggestions for use of the model noting critical factors in a training setting and comparing the model (AFTEC) with the MODIA system. Chapter 5 (half of the guide) presents the model in its two phases: Phase I, intended to be used early in the process of planning and developing a training program, e.g., developing the lists of tasks and blocking out the major sections of the training course (Major headings are Objectives, Resources, Instructional Design and Management, Instructional Personnel, Student Characteristics, and Training Content), and Phase II, to be used in the actual development of the course when the detailed decisions are made concerning learning activities of the students: the preparation of a plan of instruction, study guides, workbooks, lesson plans, etc. (Major headings are Instructional Personnel, Student Characteristics, and Training Content). 1Boy Crusoe
By Allan Eric

Also published as" A Yankee Crusoe" . A 15 year old hard working and studious farm boy finds the lure of adventure on the seas as a merchant seaman more than he can resist. This is his story. " I was born in a little town in the State of Maine, near the close of the Civil War. My boyhood life did not differ materially from that of the average farmer's son in the remote country districts of New England--except, perhaps, that I read more and thought more. Hard work on the rugged soil, two terms each year in the little yellow country schoolhouse, a day's fishing now and then filled the early years of my life full to over-flowing. " What he gets is enough excitement and adventure to overflow his wildest dreams. How he experiences disaster and uses his wits and knowledge to overcome every problem makes for a great read. - Summary by Phil Chenevert
