The development of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) spiral bevel gear grinding has paved the way for major improvement in the production of precision spiral bevel gears. The object of the program was to decrease the setup, maintenance of setup, and pattern development time by 50 percent of the time required on conventional spiral bevel gear grinders. Details of the process are explained.

The learning outcomes achieved by students are influenced by many factors. This study aims to determine the level of support of factors (motivation, interest, family, teacher's role, learning methods and learning facilities) that influence the learning process in achieving student learning outcomes in CNC learning in class XI. The subjects in the study were Class XI students majoring in Mechanical Engineering at SMK Negeri 5 Padang in the 2022/2023 academic year totalling 37 people. Because the number of research subjects (population) is less than 100 people, so all of them are taken as samples or total sampling. Data collection was carried out using observation, questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical techniques. From the data analysis, it shows that of each factor studied, the learning facility factor has the lowest level of support for student academic success compared to other factors that have been studied by researchers. Therefore, learning facilities at SMK Negeri 5 Padang in CNC subjects need to be improved again to support the student learning process and achieve better learning achievements for students.

Thermal error modeling using the temperature data obtained from different thermal key points is one of the most basic requirements for thermal error compensation in CNC machining centers. Effective thermal  error compensation relies on the accurate prediction of the time-variant thermal error during machining. The increase in number of thermal key points not only increases prediction noise in the thermal error model but is also very cost effective. Hence, optimization of thermal key points is essential for accurate prediction of thermal behaviour of machine tool. In this study, the thermal key points of horizontal feed drives of a vertical CNC machine are optimized based on sensitivity analysis. A non-linear  statistical regression thermal error prediction model is developed by using the temperature data obtained from the optimized key points. Thermal errors predicted before and after sensitivity analysis of thermal key points using statistical model are presented. The developed model can be interfaced to controller through microprocessors in order to monitor and compensate the thermal deformations. Further, the method can be extended to develop the mathematical model for vertical axis feed drive also.

The study focused on assessing the skills and competencies required for Computer Numerical Control Woodworking Machines (CNCWMs) operations for furniture crafts in Kano State Nigeria. The study was conducted in some selected Government Technical Colleges (GTCs) in Kano State. Three objectives of the study were stated to guide the study. The population for the study was 158 furniture crafts teachers and students in the area of the study. There is a purposive sampling of teachers and students in the selected technical colleges’ (TCs) furniture crafts departments due to the manageable population in the department in the area of study. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire developed from the literature reviewed and validated by three woodwork experts from the Department of Industrial and Technology Education, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State – Nigeria. The questionnaire was administered to 158 respondents which included teachers and students of the furniture crafts department in three selected TCs in Kano State, and 135 were retrieved and analyzed using mean and standard deviation (SD). The study revealed among others that the skills and competencies required for CNCWMs operations for furniture crafts should be properly put into use to enhance the effective and practicable teaching of furniture crafts to improve students’ interest, understanding and comprehension in the subject, TCs to provide necessary tools and equipment that will promote the teaching and learning of furniture crafts in TCs across the country among others. Recommendations were given based on the findings from the study.

(Purpose) The purpose of this paper was to examine the issues associated with bringing new technology into the classroom, in particular, the vocational/technical classroom. (Methodology) A new Haas 5 axis vertical Computer Numerical Control machining center was purchased to update the CNC machining curriculum at a community college and the process of incorporating the new equipment and related technology is documented in the study. (Results) Results were that introducing new technology is not a simple process due to numerous issues, time being one as well as software, hardware, and the learning curve. (Conclusions) Results of the study included successful adaptation of CAD/CAM software as well as setup and operation of the equipment with a simple part being manufactured without incidence. (Recommendations) Educators who are bringing in new technology need to understand the importance of time. Unforeseen events will crop up any time a new technology is brought into the classroom and time is needed to address these issues as they arise. (Contains 13 figures.)

CNC technology has not only brought innovation to the traditional manufacturing industry, but also promoted the rapid development of high-technology industry. The core of computer numerical control technology is the CNC system. The high-end CNC system is very expensive, and the low-end market capacity is very big; therefore, an embedded highly cost-effective low-end embedded CNC system is designed to develop. This paper introduces the characteristics of STM32F407 controller. It proposes a new embedded CNC system based on this processor. It analyses hardware architecture, software design method and achieved function of this CNC system. The system has conducted experiments testing and engineering applications, and the results showed that the achieved function is complete correct, the speed and accuracy has met the requirements, high efficiency has achieved. And it has a much lower cost, therefore it got a certain application in practice and actual production.
