On September 10th, 2019, Mohamed Rushtum Mujuthaba, a leading atheist and human rights activist from the Maldives, was accused of producing blasphemous content against Islam on social media. Rushtum fears imprisonment on blasphemy charges at an upcoming court hearing on June 23rd. Rushtum is known for pointing out religious texts' irrational and dangerous aspects. In confinement, he was beaten, not provided with proper food and clothing, and told that the blasphemers were the greatest sinners. Mujuthaba was detained for more than six months without trial by the Maldivian authorities, in excess of his stipulated sentence, a clear violation of the international human rights law. The Maldivian Police performed psychological tests on Mujuthaba at various clinics to ascertain if he was mentally ill for his atheist and secularist views. He was also abused for not fasting during the month of Ramadan. He was even moved to a maximum-security unit in the death row section at one point. Amnesty International has urged the Maldivian authorities to release Rushtum and stated that "the actions against Mohamed Rusthum Mujuthaba contravenes international human rights law including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights." In the past decade, Pakistan has witnessed incidents such as the public lynching of a student on a university campus, a Christian couple being torched alive, attacks on entire neighbourhoods by angry mobs and the assassination of a provincial governor by his own security guard over allegations of blasphemy. Finding the Enemy Within unpacks the meanings and motivations behind accusations of blasphemy and subsequent violence in Pakistan. This is the first ethnographic study of its kind analysing the perspectives of a range of different actors including accusers, religious scholars and lawyers involved in blasphemy-related incidents in Pakistan. Bringing together anthropological perspectives on religion, violence and law, this book reworks prevalent analytical dichotomies of reason/emotion, culture/religion, traditional/Western, state/nonstate and legal/extralegal to extend our understanding of the upsurge of blasphemy-related violence in Pakistan. Through the case study of blasphemy accusations in Pakistan, this book addresses broader questions of difference, individual and collective identities, social and symbolic boundaries, and conflict and violence in modern nation-states.

The following contains two radio discussions, endeavouring to highlight the importance of retaining the word Blasphemy within the Irish Constitution. While addressing such easily verified facts, one radio host informed his listeners that I was speaking “rubbish” while the other maintained that Blasphemy was an offence against anyone’s god or religion. The latter assertion being a matter I contested before the higher courts, as it is my contention, that Blasphemy in the lawful definition of the word, is an offence against the Christian God. During the discussion, another contributor informed the listenership, on the day before the moratorium, that a certain faith would leave Ireland if the Irish public voted to get rid of our Blasphemy law. This statement was indeed contrary to the facts, that went unchallenged, and has yet to happen five years on, after the referendum.   If the word Blasphemy had been retained, and enforced, it would have ensured that Ireland would be lawfully and exclusivity a Christian territory . While attempting to contribute to the topic, I was unaware that I was walking into a hatchet job, as I expected to have an intelligent and structured discussion on the facts. But alas, to say I was drastically wrong, is an understatement. It was naive of me to assume that Mr Cogan would have taken into consideration that the pre amble to the Irish constitution, which states that the Irish people give ourselves our constitution in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, which also acknowledges our obligations to the Divine Lord Jesus Christ. According to Black’s Law dictionary, Blasphemy is defined as an offence against the Christian God, and He alone. Mr Cogan, eventually conceded that this definition is from the law dictionary, thus reinforcing my argument, for Christs eminence within Irish society, as lawful and correct. Therefore, any antichrist, who seeks to publicly publish otherwise, and question Christs Divinity is in conflict with constitutional justice. This was just one of many points I didn’t have a chance to develop, due to the frequent interruptions, where the love of ones God and country, is extrapolated for implications of xenophobia. Surly it is obvious, if not only for the reason, that we celebrate Saint Patricks day, for running the Snakes out of Ireland, and cultivating our rich Christian heritage, but also for the reason we celebrate Christmas for the advent of Christ, as God with us. How then can it be argued when our cherished faith and traditions, are publicly published, to be considered offensive and sacrilege, in the eyes of personas non grata, is not Blasphemy, by Irish standards. This Blasphemy law was implemented at the founding of the Republic, and is not medieval. The circumstances contemporary to the time, was an era of seditious uprising, by anarchists, communists ect. So, it’s easy to see how a Blasphemy law when codified in conjunction with seditious matters, would be in the interest of protecting Irish Society. Subsequently, after the discussion, many of the public contacted the radio station, in agreement with the little I had a chance to say. I hope you have patience to see through this discussion to the end, as many may find it disruptive and dogmatic. I have included some of court documents is this video, to bolster this point of law, and for the viewer to make up their minds.   This documentation concerns two separate applications made to the High Court, Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court, endeavouring to retain and enforce Irish Constitutional law, in particular Article 40.6.   Article 40 of the Irish Constitution states (in part):   "6.1. The State guarantees liberty for the exercise of the following rights, subject to public order and morality:   The right of the citizens to express freely their convictions and opinions. The education of public opinion being, however, a matter of such grave import to the common good, the State shall endeavour to ensure that organs of public opinion, such as the radio, the press, the cinema, while preserving their rightful liberty of expression,   including criticism of Government policy,  shall not be used to undermine public order or morality or the authority of the State.   The publication or utterance of blasphemous, seditious, or indecent matter is an offence which shall be punishable in accordance with law." This Article recognised the importance of “ The publication or utterance of blasphemous , seditious, or indecent matter as an offence punishable in accordance with the law."   This law safeguarded, that Ireland remained exclusively Christian, by lawfully prohibiting any interlopers of foreign faiths from establishing themselves, and growing within the Irish Homeland.   Unfortunately, the word “Blasphemous” was misleadingly removed from the Constitution, via a poorly publicized referendum, which was stealthily attached to a presidential election. Unsurprisingly, almost zero discussion was had on this topic, despite its significance.   Equally unsurprising, Deputy Simon Harris, who said the blasphemy law (which protected Christian values) was “embarrassing”, now endorses a “Hate Speech” law, which secures anyone, with little regard to the Christian Constitution of the Irish People.   Many now feel reluctant to stick their head above the parapet, and contend against hypocritical deception, for fear they will be subjected to a concerted smear campaign, determined to shoot the messenger, to employ the familiar metaphor, if not a foreboding prophecy. While our elected representatives totally ignore the pre-amble to the Irish constitution, along with the many oaths, our civil servants swear to uphold, and any reference to the Most High God of the Irish people. Ashamed of our heritage, they take it upon themselves to squander our inheritance, as pliable decision makers, pandering to the European Union, who use their idol of multiculturalism to muddy the waters of Christendom, with its clay feet. This minority seditiously condition the masses to turn our backs on or own God and Christian cultural values, while encouraging us to embrace with tolerance alien ideologies that are mutual exclusive to hold long-held values of the Irish people. Although I refuse to bite on the typical hate-bate, at trap that would leave me open to the usual ad-hominin attacks, which ultimately deflect from the actualities, I will always state that my motivation is of a Pro-Christ stance, and He alone, and am ever reminded of His words, when He said, he that is not with me is against me.       Praise Christ.
