This paper describes the Hawaii Interactive Television System (HITS) program and provides an evaluation of the first year of broadcasts for the advanced placement (AP) calculus course. HITS allows two-way video-audio interaction among origination sites, but the configuration used by the Department of Education for its Teleschool program is the one-way video pattern with audio interaction through a telephone bridge. The purpose of the Teleschool is to deliver televised courses to schools that have low student enrollments in the targeted courses or are unable to secure a qualified teacher for the course. Eleven schools in both rural and urban locations participated in the first year AP calculus broadcasts. Most sites received class broadcasts live, but some schools showed videotapes of the class to enrolled students. Site coordinators and students were able to contact the Teleschool teacher through a toll-free number at his home during nonbroadcast hours. Results of a questionnaire survey of school principals, site coordinators, and students at each of the AP calculus Teleschool sites include: (1) students and site coordinators were particularly positive about the TV teacher's instructional ability; (2) school principals reported problems with transmission and with fitting the HITS class into the schedule; (3) students and site coordinators most frequently criticized the lack of teacher-student interaction; and (4) over 90 percent of the students said they preferred a traditional classroom. Section I items were designed so that a calculator was not needed, but approximately half of the students were permitted to use calculators. Section II items required a calculator to arrive at the correct solution, and all students were permitted calculator use. Calculator use resulted in a substantial improvement in performance for 3 of the 40 Section I items. The internal consistency reliability of the Section I items was higher for students not permitted calculator use. A pattern of negative delta differential item functioning (D-DIF) values for the Section II items indicated that these items were differentially more difficult for females than the Section I items. The D-DIF value of only one Section I item appeared to be substantially impacted by calculator use. Total test scores were found to be higher for those permitted to use calculators, for males in comparison to females, and for those reporting the use of advanced calculators (capable of graphics or the taking of derivatives) in comparison to those reporting the use of scientific calculators. We present a set of lectures on topics of advanced calculus in one real and complex variable with several new results and proofs on the subject, specially with detailed proof-always missing in the literature - of the Cissoti explicitly integral formula conformally representing a polygon onto a disc.Besides we present-in the paper appendix-a new study embodied with a mathematical physicist perspective,on the famous Riemann conjecture on the zeros of the Zeta function, reducing its proof to a conjecture on the positivity of a numerical series.

Vedic Mathematics, an ancient system derived from the Vedas, offers efficient and intuitive techniques for solving complex mathematical problems. This paper explores the integration of Vedic Mathematics with advanced calculus, particularly focusing on derivatives, integrals, and differential equations. By leveraging Vedic Sutras such as  Divaja Ghata ,  Calana-Kalanabhyam , and  Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam , we demonstrate how traditional calculus problems can be simplified and solved more effectively. Detailed examples are provided to illustrate the application of these Sutras in differential calculus, integration, and partial differential equations (PDEs).The study highlights the potential of Vedic Mathematics to enhance computational efficiency and conceptual clarity in advanced calculus.

The application of generalized inverses is usually neglected in pure mathematical research. However, it is very effective for this paper. We expand the famous matrix rank theorem due to R. Penrose to operators between Banach paces. Therefore a modern perturbation analysis of generalized inverses is built. Hereby, we find and prove a complete rank theorem in advanced calculus. So a complete answer to the rank theorem problem presented by M. S. Berger is given. Applying the co-final set and the perturbation analysis of generalized inverses we prove the Frobenius theorem in Banach space, in the proof of which the used vector field and flow theory are avoided. The co-final set is essential to the Frobenius theorem. When the co-final set is trivial, the theorem reduces to the differential equation with initial value in Banach space. Also, we discuss a non-trivial family of subspaces and give its smooth integral submanifold.
