This report will determine to what degree the AP Physics 1 and 2 and AP Calculus AB and BC frameworks are aligned with the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) Advanced Physics and Mathematics frameworks. This will enable an exploration of any differences in content coverage and levels of complexity, and will set the stage for a future performance report that will evaluate AP student performance on TIMSS Advanced. The current report will expose meaningful differences in frameworks that may speak to performance outcomes. In 2015, the U.S. as well as several cooperating countries will participate in TIMSS Advanced, providing the optimal opportunity to recognize AP and non-AP students within the TIMSS Advanced sample and investigate the differences in performance. The field trial determined that the established sampling plan ensured adequate AP Physics 1 and 2, and AP Calculus representation, as well as non-AP students to which they can be compared for the final country-to-country performance report. The overall strong alignment between the TIMSS Advanced framework and AP Physics 1 and 2 and AP Calculus suggests that AP students taking the TIMSS Advanced Exam in the Spring of 2015 should be very familiar with the content being assessed. Further, AP students should also be familiar with the context of the assessment items and the way in which the assessment items are presented to the students on the exam. Knowing that AP students are prepared for the TIMSS 2015 Exam will allow for deeper claims to be made in the subsequent performance report, as it will not be necessary to speculate whether or not the material on the TIMSS Advanced 2015 Exam is relevant to AP students. In addition, the level of detail this alignment report provides will allow researchers writing the performance report to deconstruct different sections of the TIMSS 2015 performance report to identify sections of the exam where we would expect AP students to excel and where AP students are less prepared for the content being assessed.

Vedic Mathematics, an ancient system derived from the Vedas, offers efficient and intuitive techniques for solving complex mathematical problems. This paper explores the integration of Vedic Mathematics with advanced calculus, particularly focusing on derivatives, integrals, and differential equations. By leveraging Vedic Sutras such as  Divaja Ghata ,  Calana-Kalanabhyam , and  Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam , we demonstrate how traditional calculus problems can be simplified and solved more effectively. Detailed examples are provided to illustrate the application of these Sutras in differential calculus, integration, and partial differential equations (PDEs).The study highlights the potential of Vedic Mathematics to enhance computational efficiency and conceptual clarity in advanced calculus.

Advanced Placement Calculus examinations were administered to nearly 7,000 students in order to determine the impact of calculator use. Both experimental examinations had two sections. Section I items were designed so that a calculator was not needed, but approximately half of the students were permitted to use calculators. Section II items required a calculator to arrive at the correct solution, and all students were permitted calculator use. Calculator use resulted in a substantial improvement in performance for 3 of the 40 Section I items. The internal consistency reliability of the Section I items was higher for students not permitted calculator use. A pattern of negative delta differential item functioning (D-DIF) values for the Section II items indicated that these items were differentially more difficult for females than the Section I items. The D-DIF value of only one Section I item appeared to be substantially impacted by calculator use. Total test scores were found to be higher for those permitted to use calculators, for males in comparison to females, and for those reporting the use of advanced calculators (capable of graphics or the taking of derivatives) in comparison to those reporting the use of scientific calculators. This study examined outcomes for AP® Calculus and AP Physics students on the 2015 Trends in International Math and Science Study (TIMSS) relative to other participating countries and other advanced math and science students in the United States. Compared to other countries in the study, AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C: EM students outperformed all participating education systems and other AP groups. Data also show that higher percentages of AP Calculus and Physics students reached international benchmarks, earned higher average content domain scores, and spent more time engaged in math and science than other advanced math and science students in the U.S. who did not take AP.

Written by a Church of England clergyman in the time of Cromwell, this work is praised for both its style and content. Taylor's work was much admired by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, for its devotional quality; and by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Thomas de Quincey, and Edmund Gosse for its literary qualities.<br /><br /><i>Holy Dying</i> is meant to instruct the reader in the "means and instruments" of preparing for a blessed death, written in a time when death was a constant companion to life and not to be encountered without being ready for it. Jefferys Taylor was born in 1792 in Suffolk, England. He became apprenticed to his father who was an engraver and invented a special ruling machine for engravers but went on to emulate his mother who was a children's writer. His books include favourites like Harry's Holliday or the Doings of One Who had Nothing to Do and The Little Historians. <br><br>This book "Aesop in Rhyme" published in 1820, contains 58 of Aesop's Fables which he has retold in verse as well as 13 original fables of his own. Whatever will stimulate the observing tendencies of the young cannot but be of value to them. "Eyes and No Eyes" does this in a delightful way. The story is so natural that the child is wrapped up in it, and so it makes a deep impress upon him. Much less could be accomplished by simply telling him to observe, or lecturing upon the value of keeping one's eyes open. But when the reader sees how much more William gets out of his walk than Robert, and what marvellous things exist everywhere if one is on the lookout for them, he is himself incited to examine with greater care the many more or less ordinary things he has neglected heretofore. William and Robert become very real individuals to the child, and there is no doubt which of them he will choose to emulate. The author relies upon the force of concrete example to determine the conduct of children, and this is certainly sound in theory and endorsed by experience. Two of the stories are written by a brother-sister team of John Aikin and Jane Barbauld and are from their multi-volume work on "The Art of Seeing". Jane Marcet has also written many scientific books. Best well known, however, is the author Jane Taylor who wrote the lyrics to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

The first of two volumes telling the life story of Pastor Hsi, a Confucian scholar from Shanxi province in Northern China who became a Christian in the 1870s. Pastor Hsi grew up in a China now long gone, when the scholarly class to which he belonged held a leading place in society. He lived through tumultuous times of change in China, when the opium that enriched the pockets of Western countries brought widespread addiction and poverty while a multi-year drought brought famine, decimating the already weakened population. Into this scene of tragedy, two western men stepped, bringing with them food to help the poor and starving, seeds for planting when the rains returned, and news that The Supreme Ruler was not hidden behind the gates of the Temple of Heaven, reachable only by the Emperor once a year, but instead was reaching out to the people in love, seeking to reconcile them with Himself. Hsi's life had been one of searching. While trained as a Confucian, he found himself unable to reach the high ideals espoused by its maxims and regulations. He explored Taoism and Buddhism but found them filled with idols and superstitions which trapped the common people in darkness and uncertainty.
