"Understanding Public Stigma Toward End-of-Life Decisions: A Vignette-Based Study Of Suicide And Assisted Dying" Description:
The Internet Archive:
This study aims to compare general public attitudes to assisted dying and suicide, and how attitudes are affected by the nature of chronic health condition a person might be living with, and the age of the person in question. This study aims to achieve a better understanding of what the general public thinks about someone’s choice to end their life. Does the public perceive the distinction between assisted dying and suicide differently in older people than younger people? Does this distinction extend to those living with chronic physical health conditions but not to those living with chronic mental illness? Attitudes will be measured using the three sub-scales of the Stigma of Suicide Scale; Stigma, Isolation/ Depression and Glorification/ Normalisation (Batterham et al 2013)
