In this video, I take a look at the genetic origins of contemporary Iranians based on a recent study which contained Iron Age Iranian samples. Similar to the previous videos, this video takes a look at the amount of Iron Age ancestry harbored by modern day Iranian populations, including the Kurds and Azerbaijanis. What is different in this analysis, however, is that I have selected some of the ancient Iron Age Iranian samples which have around 60 to 70% Iran Chalcolithic heritage, and 15 to 23% Proto-Indo-Iranian heritage. These selected samples are from Hasanlu and Tepe Dinkha Tepe. Overall, these samples are likely akin to the ancient Iranian population, residing within Iran, during the Iron Age. Per this analysis, it is evident that modern day Iranians have significant Iron Age Iranian ancestry at around 90% and greater, with the exception of the Iranians from Khorasan. The Kurds also show around the same amount of genetic continuity, which averages out to 95%. Finally, the contemporary Azerbaijanis have a lot less of this ancestry, at around 80%. Nonetheless, all three populations are largely of Iron Age Iranian genetic origins. This latest data refutes the claims made by Jason Reza Jorjani and White Nationalists that the modern day Iranians are heavily admixed with the Turco-Mongol and the Arabs. Overall, Arab, South Asian, Caucasian, and Medieval Turkic ancestry in modern Iranians is at a minimal and does not exceed more than 5 to 10% cumulatively.
