This is a study of a well-known Mission endeavor a century ago, the Shi-Men-Kan (Stone Gateway) Church, a mission outpost in China, how was it miraculously founded, developed and latter obliterated by the Chinese Government, then recently rediscovered. A reflection on God’s hands in the History of Christian Church.<div><br /></div><div>From the beginning of its founding, the hands of God has made the impossible possible, bringing a group of disarrayed Miao people to meet missionary and latter guided Mr. Samuel Pollard, a British Methodist missionary, to the Miao tribe in Guizhou, China, to become Apostle to the Miaos. There is nothing accidental in the China Miao Christianity; everything is but a sign of God’s hand in action.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>This thesis presents the testimony of how God has act in bringing the Gospel to the Miao and how the seed of the Gospel germinated and flourish to change and enrich the life and the culture of the Miao tribe making it the pride and the glory of the nation, wiping out illiteracy, disease, and poverty in less then 20 years.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>It also describes the development of the first 50 glorious years, and the decline of the mission after the Communists took over the government, the Cultural Revolution to the obliteration of Christianity among the Miao.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>It further analyzed in theological perspective, the cause, the process and the result of such a disaster, then presents the hope, observing recent happenings under God’s provision, then present bright outlook for future development of the Shi-Men-Kan, the Stone Gateway Church.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The thesis concludes with recommendations for future study on Shi-Men-Kan church suggesting practical actions needed to be taken should Christianity desires to stand high in world history proving that nothing is accidental, everything but an action of God’s hand strengthening our faith to exclaim together with Job: I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee! Job (42:5).<br /></div>
