Remembering Ray - Ray Manzarek, the co-founder of The Doors, died Monday, May 20 at the age of 74. We'll remember the legendary musician by re-airing an interview he did in January 2012 with Beth on the 40th anniversary of the release of The Doors' "L.A. Woman." News Network - The brother of a murdered eight-year-old girl in Calaveras County has been arrested on suspicion of killing his sister, but there's still no motive and the boy's family is supporting him until they see evidence to the contrary. Joel Metzger from the Calaveras Enterprise joins us with the latest on Leila Fowler's murder investigation. "An American Mosque" - KVIE's Viewfinder series is airing a half hour documentary in May called "An American Mosque." Airing as a part of the Viewfinder series, it was produced, directed, shot and edited by a freelancer David Washburn. It centers on the community activity in building the large mosque in Yuba City, its destruction in an arson fire in 1994 and the ultimate reconstruction in 2000 thanks to incredible support from all segments of the Yuba City community. We'll talk with Washburn about the compelling story. Cosmologist Sean Carroll - Be prepared to have your understanding of the universe flipped upside down - and pulled inside out - as we speak with California Institute of Technology Cosmologist Sean Carroll about his upcoming public lecture at UC Davis. Carroll observes the universes evolution in disorder and asks why the early universe, following the Big Bang, was so orderly. Carroll's lecture is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 in UC Davis' Conference Center. Hunger Action Week - The Sacramento Hunger Coalition has organized the region's first Hunger Action Week from May 20 through 24. The goal of the week is to bring attention to the hunger crisis happening right now locally and statewide. On every day of the week, a special event is planned to bring together stakeholders and the public to allow for discussion on these topics, including a screening of the documentary "A Place at the Table" and a panel discussion with Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor and anti-hunger advocates on Tuesday, May 21st at the Crest Theater. There will also be a Hunger Action Day at the Capitol on Wednesday and an introduction to the CalFresh program at the Florin Farmers Market on Thursday. We'll talk with Eileen Thomas, executive director of River City Food Bank and chair of the Sacramento Hunger Coalition steering committee, about hunger in our area.
