The grant provides a vehicle for linking the public and private sectors in Austin with the school system, providing in-depth partnerships for creating a thinking curriculum with two major goals: improving teaching skills with technology tools and increasing student learning and performance through holistic, interdisciplinary approaches. In the evaluated year, NSF funds provided staff development, student involvement in outreach activities in elementary schools, development of a groundwater curriculum for high school students, development of new private and public sector partnerships, followup on previous development, and additional staff. Evaluation suggested positive attitudes on the parts of teachers and students and useful curriculum changes. Recommendations are offered for program continuation.
