Introduction: Cancer is characterized as a chronic disease, according to the Instituto National Cancer Institute (INCA), from the diagnosis of cancer, patients present some kind of emotional disorder. Intervention by aromatherapy with the use of oils essentials has an emotional impact, we have as an example Sicilian lemon and bergamot, both have properties capable of minimizing emotional and other effects relevant in the life of the chemotherapy patient. Objective: it will be to compare the effects of the use of bergamot essential oil (GO) with the use of a blend of bergamot and Sicilian lemon (GBO) applied to the dorsum of the feet, in the physical and emotional aspects of patients chemotherapy. Methods: patients with rectal colon cancer, who use as treatment the medication XELODA (capecitabine) and XELOX (capecitabine + oxaliplatin), 5-FU (flourouracil), FOLFOX (5-FU + oxaliplatin), and FOLFIRI (5-FU + irinotecan), from the second cycle of chemotherapy. Patients will be randomized and divided into two groups of 25 individuals, totaling 50 patients to undergo the comparison of oils, in which (GBO) will apply a blend of oils and (GO) only one of the oils, and coconut oil will be used as a carrier. On initial contact, the patient will be informed of the research, if the patient agrees to participate, the term of consent, performed an evaluation, application of questionnaires through interviews in relation to their psychological and physical state, and deliver a bottle with their respective treatment according to randomization, GO or GBO and instructions for use at home over 7 days. After this period, the same questionnaires will be reapplied initial assessment for comparison purposes. Data analysis: the data will be analyzed by the GraphPad Prism statistical software. For normality analysis of test data Shapiro Wilk. For paired analysis Student's t test in case of normal distribution or Wilcoxon test for variables that do not follow a Gaussian distribution. For analysis unpaired, the absolute variation (delta) of the outcomes will be considered and a test will be applied Unpaired Student's T or Mann Whitney according to data distribution. O significance level used will be 5%. Data will be expressed as mean and deviation standard for continuous data and frequencies and percentages for categorical data
