Initially scheduled for full operational capability (FOC) in 2008, the Common Aviation Command and Control System's (CAC2S) current FOC target date is unknown. Plagued by recent setbacks, the program has received intense scrutiny with regard to delays and overall viability. CAC2S is designed to support the Marine Corps' capstone warfighting concept, expeditionary maneuver warfare (EMW), as well as to ensure success during naval and joint/combined operations across the spectrum of conflict. CAC2S will replace the current stove-piped systems, organizations, and missions...with a common, interoperable, accessible, single command and coordination process. The stove-piped systems that CAC2S is designed to replace come from the Direct Air Support Center (DASC), Tactical Air Operations Center (TAOC), and Tactical Air Command Center (TACC). CAC2S was featured on the Marine Corps' EMW Capability List, which was issued by the Marine Corps Combat Development Command in June 2003. However, in May 2008, during an operational assessment, the CAC2S' performance was deemed subpar: the system consistently experienced network instability, poor reliability, information assurance inadequacies, and overall performance issues. In addition, failures to fulfill initial operational capability criteria have occurred. Consequently, the Marine Corps decided to postpone the awarding of a low-rate initial production (LRIP) contract and to restructure the entire program. Nevertheless, CAC2S' developmental delays will ultimately be outweighed by long-term gains in the form of enhanced capabilities that will allow the MACCS to operate more effectively in expeditionary environments, integrate with joint and coalition partners to higher degrees, and enable more accurate and timely decisions.

When a firefighter shows up at a house, it’s not usually a good sign. But for Sue Sami, she had waited for this moment for 14 years. "I’m excited," said Sami. "I kind of, sort of want to cry." For 14 years Sami has wanted to thank firefighter Jim Lanning, who came to her aid while she was pregnant with twins. "I didn’t know I was miscarrying, but I was," she said, reuniting with Lanning at her Plymouth home. "I think you were the first on scene." While she miscarried one of her twins, the other, Sophia, survived. "My daughter is my only child," she said. "I lost four babies before her. She's my life. She's my heart." And every day of Sophia’s life since, Sami has thought about that firefighter. When she finally tracked Lanning down, she asked if she could meet him again in person. "I wanted to say thank you," said Sami, who is originally from Tunisia. "He said the right thing, he did the right thing." Lanning says he just did what he was trained to do and admits he doesn’t remember much about the specific call. "Sometimes we help people and we don’t even know," he said. But all these years later, he’s happy to be reminded that seemingly small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. "It’s more than just the duty, it’s the heart," said Sami. "You’ve got a good soul, you’ve got a good heart. And we’re not going to let go of you now." OPERATION AIRHOSE UPDATE. Hold on to your pantyhose and pull. Sorry for the delay in updates, but...THIS UPDATE IS WORTH THE WAIT. I walked into the quiet terminal and saw this air-hose sitting at table and watching netflix while on her layover. She had both heels off and had her feet up on the chair. If you notice too, the heels were Mary Jane straps, those are not my favorite heels because they dont usually come off and are not conducive to shoeplay, but these heels came off. . She did lots of toe wiggling and was CARESSING THE METAL CHAIR LEGS WITH HER TOES. She even had the chair leg in between her toes. This FA likes to have steel rods between her toes it seems.
