6Delivering A Full-term Baby That Was Dead, Working As A Physical Therapist For Horses And Combining Horse Trauma And Her Trauma To Heal Them Both And Open That Up To Others - With Helen Brennand
By At A Crossroads with The Naked Podcaster
Helen and I connected and it was so amazing. Taking writing and attaching the experience to a horse is so appealing to me as a writer, I longed to go visit her, let a horse "choose" me and write book #2. With such an amazing background, she allowed her experiences with the horses to shape how she designed her business. The work she's doing is so fantastic and I love her story. FACEBOOK: helenbbooks SONG: BOOKS: http://www.belief444.com/the-books.html WEBSITE: http://www.belief444.com/home.html EXCERPT: file:///Users/tempadmin/Downloads/2C2C-Cont-Author-Helen-Brennand-Press-Kit%20(1).pdf ABOUT THEM: The Haven is a home for animals, it is a peaceful environment centered around our herd of horses who provide healing for people to help them find balance and harmony in their lives (see Healing with The Herd). We also offer a service of holistic rehabilitation for horses and ponies recovering from illness, injury or trauma. Fostering We have a limited number of places to offer to horses and ponies that have been removed from abusive situations. We provide a safe haven and gentle holistic care. An experience is created to help them regain confidence and rebuild trust in the human-horse connection. Our main support for fostering is through community-based fundraising. ABOUT HELEN Helen is an author, instructor, equine bodyworker and animal communicator. She practices Yoga and Meditation and combines these practices with horse and human. Becoming an Equine Touch practitioner took her into another dimension of the horse's world. She communicated on a deeper level and realized the true healing power of the horse. She constantly works towards improving the domesticated horses' managed environment, finding improved solutions to create stimulation and good health. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-naked-podcaster/message

7Attachment And Trauma: Concept Use Regarding Attachment And Trauma Among Dutch Health Care Professionals Working With Children, Adolescents, And Parents
By Annaleena Holopainen, Alice van Dijk-Lokkart, Mirjam Oosterman, Frederike Scheper, Marije Verhage and Anne Tharner
Attachment and trauma are concepts that are readily recognizable and close to our everyday experiences. Yet, concepts used in research often have a more technical meaning that is not in line with ordinary language. This may interfere with an effective dialogue between different scientific and clinical communities, and prevent them from learning from each other, making use of their respective strengths, and effective collaboration. This study aims to contribute to overcoming these challenges by investigating 1) how Dutch professionals working with children, adolescents, and parents understand the concepts of attachment and trauma, 2) how they apply concepts and knowledge related to attachment and trauma in their work and 3) to find out what their needs are in terms of knowledge, training, skills with regard to assessment of attachment and trauma.

8Working With Youth In Courts Who Have Been Exposed To Trauma
By PBCTV
Working with Youth in Courts Who Have Been Exposed to Trauma This panel discussion was recorded at the Palm Beach County Bar Association Bench Bar Conference 2/19/2016 Moderator: Judge Ronald Alvarez, Retired 15th Judicial Circuit Panelists: 1. Laura Levin, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist Palm Beach County Youth Services Department 2. Randee Kogan, M.S., L.M.H.C., Licensed Therapy Coordinator Palm Beach County Victim Services & Certified Rape Crisis Center 3. Magistrate Judette N. Fanelli, 15th Judicial Circuit 4. Angela Bess, Ed.D. Director of Educational Alternatives, DJJ Youth Services Seminar Description: Youth required to testify in court or are subjects of court proceedings are often victims of childhood trauma. Childhood trauma may include experiences such as abuse or neglect, witnessing family or community violence, accidents, exposure to parental alcohol or drug use, separation from parents through parental death or divorce, parental criminal behaviors, or parental incarceration. Exposure to childhood trauma can have a detrimental impact on a child’s functioning, including brain development, regulation of emotions, attachment, and cognitive and behavioral functioning. These factors increase the likelihood that children will become involved with the juvenile court system. This seminar will give practical advice on how to recognize children experiencing trauma, tips on how to treat children in courts to minimize further trauma, universal precautions that should be implemented, and information on resources available to children and their families who are experiencing the effects of trauma. For information on this and other Palm Beach County programs and services, please visit http://www.pbcgov.com/publicaffairs/Local_Programs.htm

9Title: Working With Culturally Diverse Populations: Perspectives Of Healthcare Professionals Of Their Role In Trauma-informed Care
By Dr Kate Snowball, Dr Kathy Burrows and Victoria Gouldsborough
he prevalence of past or current trauma in those who access mental health services is well documented in the literature and has given rise to an increase in trauma-informed care (TIC) approaches within mental health services. This primarily looked at reducing restrictive interventions such as restraint and seclusion due to the trauma and re-traumatisation this caused for service users and staff. More recent focus has extended to other aspects of TIC and in developing more trauma-informed organisations at every level. The concept of TIC has been criticised in the literature alongside the idea that by focussing at the individual level, the larger socio-political influences are neglected. There are large cultural inequalities in mental health, both in accessing services and the care and treatment received. Research is limited from the perspective of professionals working in mental health of what they view as their role in working in a trauma-informed way, particularly within culturally diverse populations. This proposed research will employ a qualitative approach through Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), with the aim of exploring the experiences and perceived roles healthcare professionals have working in a trauma-informed way within culturally diverse inpatient populations.

11Working In Group Care For Children: Burnout, Vicarious Trauma And Work Engagement In Working With Traumatized Children In Traumatic Times
By Marzia Saglietti and Matteo Alpini
Over the past three years, the COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges to welfare communities worldwide, requiring caregivers to adapt to the multiple changes forwarded by this «atypical traumatic event» they were experiencing while contemporary looking after their clients/patients. Drawing on the assumptions of Community Psychology, this study focuses on professionals working in Italian group care for children (GCC). Through an online survey using UWES-9, CBI and STS scales, our aim is to explore if and how professionals suffer from burnout, vicarious trauma and secondary traumatic stress. Additionally, we aim at finding out their work engagement in conducting such complex work.

13ERIC ED406497: Issues Of War Trauma And Working With Refugees. A Compilation Of Resources.
By ERIC
The Center for Applied Linguistics has compiled these resources on the subjects of war trauma and working with refugees to guide refugee service providers and classroom teachers. The materials include background information about trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder and specific information about problems of refugees and victims of war trauma. The selections in the compilation are designated Appendixes. The United Nations, through its High Commissioner for Refugees and its statement on the rights of the child (Appendix A) has recognized the problems children, especially those from Bosnia, face. Two appendixes (B and C) discuss trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder, and refugees. Two selections focus on children and trauma and consider general developmental issues and coping with grief and the aftermath of disaster. "War Trauma and Refugee Children" contains a description of a film about the effects of torture on children, a discussion of traumatic human rights abuse, and a two-part article on the effects of massive trauma on Cambodian children. "Children of Holocaust Survivors" contains two articles on the symptoms and treatment of child survivors of the Holocaust. A brochure produced to help refugees from the former Yugoslavia cope with trauma is included, and the final section contains six selections on war trauma as an aspect of educating students in the English as a second language classroom. (Contains 19 references.) (SLD)

17ERIC EJ719913: Vicarious Trauma Among Therapists Working With Sexual Violence, Cancer And General Practice
By ERIC
Vicarious trauma, traumatic stress and burnout were investigated among three separate groups of mental health professionals working primarily with three different client populations (sexual violence, cancer, general practice). Participants (N=221) completed the Traumatic Stress Institute Belief Scale Revision M (TSI), the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Impact of Events Scale (IES). Contrary to hypotheses, no significant differences were found between groups. The TSI and MBI were found to be highly correlated, suggesting psychometric overlap. It was concluded within this sample there was little evidence to support vicarious trauma as an occupational hazard unique to therapists working with trauma survivors.

22ERIC ED435899: Working With Trauma Survivors: Lessons From Survivors Of The Holocaust And Opportunities For Building Understanding About The Challenges To Gaining Global Peace?
By ERIC
Millions of people were exterminated by the Nazi government during World War II because of genetic makeup, cultural heritage, religion, or physical disability. Rationalized by the Nazi's leadership as a method to achieve a "pure" and "perfect" race, the uncovering of the Holocaust to those outside German-occupied areas came as a shock at the end of World War II. Teaching about the Holocaust in schools of social work provides educators and students with a contemporary situation where students can examine issues of social morality, consequences of war, and other types of sanctioned social violence. Students can examine global issues of social justice, ethic (nationalistic) hatred cycles, and religious tolerance. From research, social workers and psychotherapists can also learn about the psychosocial effects of severe trauma experienced by survivors of the Holocaust and the impacts to second and third generation children of survivors and children of perpetrators. (Contains 16 references.) (Author/MKA)
