In this study, we examine how much support radical social policy alternatives receive in the Netherlands when they are compared to the status quo or moderate changes to existing policy. Furthermore, we examine how levels of support relate to conditionality and political orientation in this context. Broadly summarized, we argue and expect that support for an ideal-typical BI proposal is relatively low when it is compared to the status quo, and that our comparative measure more accurately reflects actual support.
