This German promotional film for the Vought Aeronautics Corsair II likely dates from the 1970s, when the German Luftwaffe began exploring the possibility of using the A-7. The F-104G Starfighter then in use by the Luftwaffe suffered from a high accident rate, and was not considered a good Marine aircraft. The success of the A7 in Vietnam made the airplane very attractive, but while the Luftwaffe considered using the A-7 Corsair II to replace the F-104, it was eventually abandoned as a concept. Both Greece and Portugal, as well as Thailand, did operate A-7s with Greece retiring the last aircraft in 2014.  Footage includes dramatic footage of the A-7 flying over mountains and lakes, at  1:40  performing bombing missions in Vietnam, operating off aircraft carriers and performing other missions. The aircraft's heads-up display ( 8:44 ;  10:00  and following) and modern armament is shown including at  3:50  its M61A1 rotary cannon. It also features a sophisticated navigation package seen at  6:55 .  The LTV A-7 Corsair II is an American carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft designed by Ling-Temco-Vought to replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Its airframe design was a somewhat smaller version of the supersonic Vought F-8 Crusader. The Corsair II initially entered service with the United States Navy (USN) during the Vietnam War. It was later adopted by the United States Air Force (USAF), including the Air National Guard, to replace the Douglas A-1 Skyraider and North American F-100 Super Sabre. The aircraft was also exported to Greece in the 1970s, and to Portugal in the late 1980s. Made during WWII by Wilding for Pratt & Whitney, "It's Our Job" was intended to be seen by the foremen of wartime industrial plants, who were vital for the success of home front factory production. Here, the problems foremen must meet and means of solving them and shown, from introducing new workers to job responsibilities, to  cooperating with other foremen, to preventing safety issues on the assembly line. The film features shots of the F4U-1 Corsair, produced by United Aircraft at this time. The plant shown may be in Dallas, Texas or East Hartford, Connecticut, where in total Vought produced 6,600 Corsairs during the war. The United Aircraft and Transport Corporation was formed in 1929, when William Boeing of the Boeing firms teamed up with Frederick Rentschler of Pratt & Whitney to form a large, vertically-integrated, amalgamated firm, uniting business interests in all aspects of aviation—a combination of aircraft engine and airframe manufacturer and airline business, to serve all aviation markets, both civil aviation (cargo, passenger, private, air mail) and military aviation. The Vought F4U Corsair, an iconic American fighter aircraft, was a cornerstone of U.S. air power during World War II and the Korean War. Renowned for its distinctive inverted gull-wing design, the Corsair combined aerodynamic efficiency with formidable combat capabilities. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine, it delivered exceptional speed, climb rate, and firepower, typically armed with six .50-caliber machine guns or four 20mm cannons, plus bombs or rockets. Its robust construction and versatility enabled it to excel in dogfights, ground attack, and carrier-based operations, though its challenging handling initially limited it to land-based use. The Corsair’s long nose and high torque demanded skilled piloting, earning it the nickname “Ensign Eliminator.” Serving primarily with the U.S. Navy and Marines, it achieved an impressive 11:1 kill ratio in WWII, cementing its legacy as one of history’s most effective fighters.

I designed this to be a modular mount for the Caddx Vista, so with 4 screws, I can take off the camera mount and put it on a hatch for a different aircraft. I currently have hatches designed for the Hobbyking Bonsai 2, Moonbeam McSwine P-51, 750mm Corsair and DuraFly EFXtra. Print the Corsair hatch with the top surface on the bed. Normal supports are needed for the magnet mounts. For the DJI Vista mount, I used TPU so the antenna mount would have a little flexibility. Required Hardware: 4 x M3 nuts 4 x M3x8mm screws

Vought F4U-1 Corsair: Even though the prototype Corsair had previously been tested, this production F4U-1 also underwent trials in Langley's 30 x 60 Full Scale Tunnel. In this manner, engineers could learn what recommendations bore drag reduction "fruit.

Vought F4U-1 Corsair: This is a "Birdcage" Corsair, so called for the canopy framing around the cockpit. Several F4Us were flown by the NACA , but this F4U-1 only flew at Langley for two months in 1943 before going to the U. S. Navy at Norfolk Naval Air Station.

The Vought F4U-4B "Corsair" Navy fighter. See also figures 3 and 17 of volume 4. This photograph is dated 7/18/51. The Vought F4U-4B was usually seen in a combat role, but as the NACA tail band suggests, this Corsair was used for research. The test work undertaken by this F4U included control rate investigation. Langley was the second research facility to use this Corsair. It came to Langley in 1950, from the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, Maryland.

Vought O3U-1 "Corsair" in Full-Scale Tunnel (FST). This photograph was taken in September 1931 after the balance had been enclosed. This aircraft was also used earlier during the summer for preliminary tests in the FST and as the subject of some of the first publicity photographs taken of FST operations. NACA engineers checked the lift and drag characteristics of several aircraft with the results of earlier flight tests. Smith DeFrance concluded NACA TR No. 459, "The agreement that has been obtained between the flight and full-scale tunnel results, together with the consistent manner in which measurements can be repeated when check tests are made, has demonstrated the accuracy and value of the equipment for aeronautical research." Vought SU-2 Corsair: The Vought SU-2 Corsair was originally designated the O3U-4, but was reassigned to the scout category of naval aircraft. This SU-2 was tested in Langley's 30 x 60 Full Scale Tunnel in 1934. The enclosure around the engine is not the Langley-developed NACA cowling, but the less efficient Townend ring cowling.

Vought O2U-1 Corsair: Suspended from the roof of the NACA's hangar at Langley Field, this Vought O2U-1 Corsair retains its float undercarriage, a contrast to other O2Us flown by the NACA which were operated on wheeled landing gear.

Vought O3U-1 Corsair: This aircraft, the Vought O3U-1 Corsair, was the first aircraft tested in the Full Scale Tunnel. It is shown here during preliminary tests in the FST before the balance was enclosed. NACA engineers checked the lift and drag characteristics of several aircraft with the results of earlier flight tests. Vought F4U-1D Corsair: In February and March of 1945 this Corsair was examined in the NACA's 30 x 60 Full Scale Tunnel at Langley Field. The F4U-1D has rockets mounted on its wings for this test. After installation and during testing, the wings would be lowered to their flight position.

Fuselage stations accommodated 500 lbs. of defensive missiles. It also came complete with an M61 20 mm cannon. Rate of fire (2:56) is noted. The A-7E came equipped with an Allison Model 250 (3:04) engine. The navigation and weapons delivery system is discussed (3:11). A close shot of the control panel follows (3:28). The automatic flight control (3:45) navigation computer and forward looking radar get a feature. The projected map display is computer driven (4:01). Maximum velocity of the A-7 is 540 knots (4:46). Footage follows of the pilot within the cockpit as he zooms through the air (5:10) selecting proper attack mode. Velocity and dive angle (6:03) follow. Vought O2U-1 Corsair: The Vought O2U-1 was the first Vought airplane to carry the name Corsair. The O2U was built as an observation aircraft for the Navy, and the example flown by the NACA for evaluation and cowling tests was one of the last O2U-1s built. This Corsair came from the Naval Reserve squadron at Naval Air Station Anacostia, Washington, D. C.

The Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-based subsonic light attack aircraft introduced to replace the United States Navy's A-4 Skyhawk, initially entering service during the Vietnam War. The Corsair was adopted by the United States Air Force, as well as the Air National Guard, to replace the A-1 Skyraider, F-100 Super Sabre and F-105 Thunderchief. The aircraft was also exported to Greece in the 1970s, and Portugal and Thailand in the late 1980s. The A-7 airframe design was based on the successful supersonic F-8 Crusader produced by Chance Vought. It was one of the first combat aircraft to feature a head-up display (HUD), an inertial navigation system (INS), and a turbofan engine.
