Digital video communication suffers from a lack of interpretability of gestures and gaze, hindering the establishment of common ground. Peerscope (https://peerscope.de/) is a system that attempts to solve these problems by using the computer screen as a mirror and filming the user’s reflection in it, creating a video from the screen‘s perspective. Screen content such as instructional graphics can then be overlaid over the user’s video, creating a virtual, interactive glass screen and allowing the viewer to interpret gestures such as pointing and gaze direction. According to the concept of gaze guidance, Peerscope should enable guiding a learner’s attention through the instructors’s gaze, which should in turn improve learning outcomes.
