This is a set i recorded whilst practicing for a night at Underscore (bristol, uk)in July 2007, it's more or less the same set i played on the night i think. There might be a few similar tracks to my previous mixes on here, but i thought i'd upload it because i really enjoyed playing it. The mix is 100% my own music (apart from an unofficial remix of a St.Germain track that i did a while ago) and includes a few new tracks scheduled for release over the next few months on Floppy Funk, Trimsound, Adagio and Hartchef Discos. This article is from PLoS ONE , volume 9 . Abstract The mosquito Aedes japonicus japonicus, originally restricted to temperate East Asia, is now widespread in North America and more recently has become established in Europe. To ascertain the putative number of separate introductions to Europe and examine patterns of expansion we analyzed the genetic makeup of Ae. j. japonicus populations from five cemeteries in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, two western German federal states, as well as of specimens from populations in Belgium, Switzerland, and Austria/Slovenia. To do so, we genotyped individual specimens at seven pre-existing polymorphic microsatellite loci and sequenced part of the nad4 mitochondrial locus. We found evidence of two different genotypic signatures associated with different nad4 mitochondrial haplotypes, indicating at least two genetically differentiated populations of Ae. j. japonicus in Europe (i.e. two distinct genotypes). Belgian, Swiss, and Austrian/Slovenian populations all share the same genotypic signature although they have become differentiated since isolation. Contrary to expectations, the German Ae. j. japonicus are not closely related to those in Belgium which are geographically nearest but are also highly inbred. German populations have a unique genotype but also evidence of mixing between the two genotypes. Also unexpectedly, the populations closest to the center of the German infestation had the highest levels of admixture indicating that separate introductions did not expand and merge but instead their expansion was driven by punctuated human-mediated transport. Critically, the resulting admixed populations have higher genetic diversity and appear invasive as indicated by their increased abundance and recent spread across western Germany.

Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) represents the only chance for many Baltimore City residents to obtain a post-secondary education, find a job with a career path, and earn a sufficient income to support a family. BCCC is also a critical linchpin in Baltimore's ability to build a competitive workforce. Yet the college, with 7,300 credit students, has generally graduated fewer than 270 students each year, a reflection of the insufficient academic foundation that students bring to the college. At the same time, BCCC represents a sizable State investment. Unlike other Maryland community colleges which rely on the State for approximately one-third of their public funding and local governments for the rest, BCCC receives two-thirds of its public dollars directly from the State, Adding to these State dollars local and federal support, a projected $76 million for Fiscal Year 2005 is taxpayer-funded. Yet this State funding is not linked to any true State oversight, and failures of reform efforts to strengthen BCCC have severely limited the returns on taxpayer investment in the institution. Based on the stakes of a successful BCCC and the college's inability to fulfill its potential, this report concludes that significant changes are required at BCCC, starting with a reconfiguration of its Board of Trustees. The report recommends that Maryland's governor replace BCCC's Board with one whose members represent the necessary skills and experience, particularly a solid understanding of K-12 and higher education and workforce development, to ensure sound management of the institution. Additionally, the report recommends that the State designate an external level of accountability for BCCC's Board by: (1) appointing ex-officio members to the BCCC Board; (2) requesting that the Blue Ribbon Panel on Higher Education place considerable focus on BCCC in its examination of higher education needs in Maryland; and (3) commencing a dialogue among the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, the Mayor, officials of the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and state budget leaders about the State's investment in BCCC, and how it can best ensure a return on taxpayer investment. This article is from Oncoimmunology , volume 3 . Abstract Neoplastic B-cell clones commonly arise within secondary lymphoid organs (SLO). However, during disease progression, lymphomatous cells may also colonize the bone marrow (BM), where they localize within specialized stromal niches, namely the osteoblastic and the vascular niche, according to their germinal center- or extra-follicular-derivation, respectively. We hypothesized the existence of common stromal motifs in BM and SLO B-cell lymphoid niches involved in licensing normal B-cell development as well as in fostering transformed B lymphoid cells. Thus, we tested the expression of prototypical mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) markers and regulatory matricellular proteins in human BM and SLO under physiologically unperturbed conditions and during B-cell lymphoma occurrence. We identified common stromal features in the BM osteoblastic niche and SLO germinal center (GC) microenvironments, traits that were also enriched within BM infiltrates of GC-associated B-cell lymphomas, suggesting that stromal programs involved in central and peripheral B-cell lymphopoiesis are also involved in malignant B-cell nurturing. Among factors co-expressed by stromal elements within these different specialized niches, we identified the pleiotropic matricellular protein secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC). The actual role of stromal SPARC in normal B-cell lymphopoiesis, investigated in Sparc−/− mice and BM chimeras retaining the Sparc−/− genotype in host stroma, demonstrated defective BM and splenic B-cell lymphopoiesis. Moreover, in the Trp53 knockout (KO) lymphoma model, p53−/−/Sparc−/− double-KO mice displayed impaired spontaneous splenic B-cell lymphomagenesis and reduced neoplastic clone BM infiltration in comparison with their p53−/−/Sparc+/+ counterparts. Our results are among the first to demonstrate the existence of common stromal programs regulating both the BM osteoblastic niche and the SLO GC lymphopoietic functions potentially fostering the genesis and progression of B-cell malignancies.
