Since Operation al-Aqsa Flood, the biggest military action against the longest occupation in history, the Israeli regime has been embroiled in a genocidal campaign in Gaza, committing all crimes imaginable against innocent civilians.

Many public health and safety education interventions have failed because practitioners did not apply effective methods of influence to alter individuals' actions. Identification of successful methods has been complicated by the lack of a theory to describe the factors that cause individuals to perform recommended practices. This thesis investigated the methods that were responsible for success in individual-level public health and safety interventions. A comparative case study was conducted on a set of interventions that encouraged seat belt use, bicycle helmet wearing, and alcohol moderation. Each intervention was analyzed using a four-model approach encompassing rational choice, reasoned behavior, and both intuitive and reflective interpretations of behavioral economics in order to detect methods that might have influenced individuals to change their actions. Comparative analysis between case analyses permitted identification of the intervention methods that are correlated with successful health and safety programs in general. The social forces of injunctive pressure and public commitment were found to be correlated with effective programs of influence. This thesis concludes that future public health and safety education interventions may achieve success by leveraging peer pressure and public commitments to elicit compliance with desired practices.

It was made to showcase the efforts of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, with a focus on the aid lent by Americans to the South Vietnamese people. Born from decades of cultural, educational and most importantly economic neglect in the name of profit, a new lowly type creature has evolved from the ashes: The American Grunt. Unhealthy, uneducated and now unmotivated, this uncompetitive work prospect has nowhere to turn but reality TV, crime, video games, drugs/drink or for the lucky ones, a dead-end job or the U.S. Military. The older and former middle-class American can look forward to depression, despair and disillusionment. Because of much of the above, many of this new breed of citizen have been arrested, charged and convicted of a variety of low level “crimes of circumstance” by their late teen years. With a criminal record following a person around in this dark but digital age, one’s past is now one’s future. Unfortunately, much of what is happening is happening by design. After all, what is the point of maintaining a healthy educated and culturally refined citizenry, when smart upwardly mobile citizens will demand to be handsomely compensated for their labor. Wherever smart people can be found and bought on the cheap, that’s where all the quality jobs will go. While the voices of industry insist this is just standard business practices in the free market system of Capitalism, others  now see it as an undeclared class war being wage against the “common man”. The American people have simply been left behind by American and international business seeking higher profit margins elsewhere. Sure, an argument could be made for personal responsibility. Perhaps, people should have been paying closer attention to the changing times. Still, one can argue, the average citizen being armed only with a minimally developed intellect, couldn’t possible foresee the future corporate schemers and scammers had in store for them. In the absence of the Forth Estate, the fate of the lower class has been sealed. Without a strong, well funded, courageous and conscientious press working solely on behalf of the people, the decline in the average American’s quality life will continue in silence. Yesterday, as predicted the American Press found the time and space to cover how New Jersey Governor Chis Christie would handle his scandal and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 hit list, while scant little attention was given to Congress passing a 1.1 trillion budget without including funding for the long term unemployed. When one considers the ongoing impact of vicious and arbitrary cuts to social programs dedicated to assist the working poor, the elderly and America’s youth because of the Sequestration legislation, it is clear that those charged with investigating, reporting and holding the powerful accountable for the people’s plight have chosen to look the other way. For the American press to prioritize the interest of Democrat and Republican 2016 presidential prospects over the issues plaguing the people today, demonstrates said American Press’ total uselessness beyond that of light entertainment value. With no independent entity devoted to exposing the plots, and schemes and scams of corporate culprits and the corrupt authorities enabling them, the Dark Age of the American Grunt has arrived.

ISSUES UNDER FIRE: WHY GENEVA 1 KILLED GENEVA 2 AND HOW GENEVA 2 KILLED 5000 MORE SYRIANS Ending with finger-pointing angry out burst and renewed public relations campaigns to sway international opinion, the Geneva 2 peace talks died its predicted death late Saturday 02.15.2014. Weary UN-Arab League envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi finally pronounced the demise of compromise, essentially citing irreconcilable differences between the waring factions. After three weeks of intensely senseless negotiations, a dejected Brahimi joined the ranks of previous international conflict managers, making his apologies for failure and conceding the near hopelessness of the crisis. Apparently preferring death to dishonor as they parted ways, those charged with negotiating the fate of the Syrian people are returning to their respective camps with nothing to show but more excuses and a lot of blame. As late as Friday 02.14.2014, John Kerry and Sergey Lavrov were still debating objectives, the Geneva 1 communique was to achieve. In reality, the idea of attempting to broker a compromise with so many lingering ambiguities bordered on the absurd. How there could be a dispute over the very foundation of core objectives at this late stage of the process, can only lead one to believe somebody tried to get slick. In the final analysis, Geneva 2 was a bad idea, because Geneva 1 was a bad idea. Geneva 1 was a bad idea because it was never a fully accepted idea. And that, is where the hard questions begin and end. Did anybody realize the Geneva 1 document was so front-loaded with Westerns demands, it read more like a wish list for some utopian secular Democracy than a negotiating tool for bridging the gulf between hundreds of independent groups, thirsting for the blood of the others. Did everybody get the same document? Did everybody read the document they got? Did each side take the document they got seriously? Did something get lost in the document’s translation? Did the primary instigators just think if they could get all the participants in the same room, something positive would magically happen? Did they just decide to wing it or did somebody just try to pull a fast one? After what just happened, aren’t these reasonable questions to ask? Still, considering how many U.S. Congressional representatives sign off on legislation they know absolutely nothing about, perhaps U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s former stint as a U.S. Senator led him to believe the international community approached its responsibilities with the same lack of due diligence as his former colleagues do. Anyone who took the time to carefully examine the language of the Geneva 1 Communique would have found so much room for interpretation, one could only conclude the document was completely useless from the onset. The Western interpretation of said document boiled down to one primary objective; an immediate transitional government being installed, without the involvement of Bashar al-Assad in any way shape or form. Unfortunately, from Russia and China’s perspective, this was hardly a reasonable starting point to address a complex multifaceted conflict such as Syria’s. And both stated as such at the time the communiqué was being authored. Russia’s Statement 06.22.2012: It is senseless to press Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to quit office, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday. “This scheme does not work from the beginning. It is incapable because he will not go,” Lavrov told local media. The top Russian diplomat stated at least half of the Syrian people voted for Bashar al-Assad during the latest elections, seeing him as a guarantor of their future and security. Bashar al-Assad’s future must be decided by the Syrians themselves, he added. China’s Statement: 06.30.2012 Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the meeting of the Action Group on Syria at Palais des Nations of Geneva and went a step further. Yang made a four-point proposal for properly resolving the Syrian crisis. In summary Yang said, “We call on the international community, particularly members of the Action Group, to urge in a balanced way the Syrian government and the opposition to earnestly implement Mr. Kofi Annan’s six-point proposal and relevant Security Council resolutions, put an end to fighting and violence, start as soon as possible an inclusive political dialogue with no preconditions attached and no prejudged outcomes, and jointly push forward the political process,” he said. Russia and China were clearly interpreting the goals of the so-called Action Group for Syria as seeking an immediate cessation of all violence so the humanitarian crisis could be addressed, leading to an all inclusive political solution with no preconditions. As far as Russia and China is concerned, beyond the aforementioned, whatever happens in Syria is up to the Syrian people and only the Syrian people. Despite claims to the contrary, Russia and China never wavered on these points. Holding steadfast to a non-interventionist position, Russia and China have stated relentlessly, arming the rebels (whoever that happens to be) while demanding the immediate ouster of Bashar al-Assad was always a non-stater. Any attempts to undermine Bashar al-Assad’s ability to rule as an elected leader of his sovereign nation would be met with a veto on the U.N. Security Council. If there was ever a change in that position, this writer missed it. The Bottom line: In the three weeks it took to realize all sides were inadequately prepared to sit down at the bargaining table, more than five thousand Syrians have been killed. Perhaps, they would have died anyway considering the level of violence, but when time is of the essence, anyone approaching the negotiating process with ulterior motives, must share the responsibility for some of those deaths.

Issues Under Fire:  Putin Says Crimea Invasion Was by Invitation Only Considering Putin views his incursion into Crimea as a matter of protecting vital interest against rough, rowdy and racist rebels, he felt compelled to roll in with Russian ruffians to rumble with the radicals on their turf. If bat wielding wild men could chase Viktor Yanukovych out of his own country, anybody coming to the rescue had better arrive ready for a real fight. And by the way, you read correctly when I said racist rebels. Word is, among the ranks of Ukraine’s most rebellious are card carrying Nazi types angling for a more pure version of their country. It didn’t take a lot of digging to find confirmation of extremist views emanating from “some” Ukrainians.   When Vladimir Putin held a press conference in Brussels, after the EU-Russia summit meeting, he warned the EU that the opposition forces they are backing has been infiltrated by racist, anti-Semitic elements. Putin reportedly said, “a priest in Western Ukraine was calling on the crowd to go to Kiev and topple the Government so as to—using his own words—prevent negroes, russkies, and yids from telling us what to do in our own home. First of all, it is astounding to hear this from a religious figure. Second, this is radical nationalism of a kind that is totally unacceptable in the civilized world.” Hearing this made me think twice about blindly supporting a bunch of potential haters, so I decided to dig a little deeper into this story. But, I had to be careful. Knowing how clever and wily Vladimir Putin can be, I wanted to make sure he wasn’t floating these accusations just to get into Barack Obama’s head. The more I dug, the more I found Putin was on to something. For those who might not recall, there is this: Recently, the FIFA upheld Ukraine racism charges after investigating accusations of Ukrainians openly abusing their own Black player while making Nazi salutes during a world cup qualifying match. The BBC produced a documentary called “Euro 2012: Stadiums of Hate”, that was broadcast on May 28. It highlighted  a group of Indian supporters getting their asses kicked mercilessly at a Ukraine league match, and showed Polish fans chanting anti-semitic slogans. The graphic footage evoked the following response from former England defender Sol Campbell “stay away from Euro 2012 or risk coming home “in a coffin”. But wait, it gets worse: In response to Ukrainian complaints that their image was unfairly tarnished by the documentary, the BBC added : “Panorama filmed at nine recent football matches in Poland and Ukraine and at every one recorded racist and/or violent behaviour by football supporters. This was most graphically demonstrated in Ukraine, where a group of Asian students were viciously assaulted inside the Metalist stadium, which is hosting Euro 2012 matches. To date no politician, football or police official in Ukraine has condemned these incidents or expressed concern for those on the receiving end.” According to Wikipedia:   Human Rights Watch  reported that “Racism and xenophobia remain entrenched problems in Ukraine”. In 2012 the  European Commission against Racism and Intolerance  (ECRI) reported that “tolerance towards  Jews ,  Russians  and  Romani  appears to have significantly declined in Ukraine since 2000 and prejudices are also reflected in daily life against other groups, who experience problems in accessing goods and services”. Discrimination against Foreigners According to a Western human rights organization, asylum seekers, refugees, and labour migrants are among the victims of bias-motivated violence, which have also included diplomats, expatriate employees of foreign companies, members of visible minorities in Ukraine, and Ukrainians who have assisted hate crime victims. Foreign students, of which there are some forty thousand, have been among the principal victims of hate crimes. Small populations of citizens and immigrants of African origin are highly visible and particularly vulnerable targets of racism and xenophobia. If American media professionals did their homework, I am sure they’d find an entirely different narrative percolating just beneath the surface. Many Americans would likely find “some” Ukrainian attitudes quite objectionable to say the least. If Americans knew they were being asked by its leadership to care what happens to a hoard of poor Nazi Euro trash, they’d call on President Obama to refocus his energies on pressing domestic issues. From where Putin stands, the West should be cutting him some slack, not sanctions. Unfortunately, slack is not an option as GOP demagogues pressure President Obama to ratchet up the rhetoric. Bottom line: When someone ask why Americans should care what Vladimir Putin does in Ukraine, I am not convinced they should care at all.

  Issues Under Fire: Struggling for a Response, Western Powers Challenge Putin’s Sanity: Far from screwy, Vladimir Putin is way ahead in the sane game as he’s out maneuvered the West in every foreign policy engagement for the last decade. Putin has a plan, plotted a course and is preparing the Russian Federation for the next level of global influence. Greatness is Vladimir Putin’s goal. As long as the West remain in reactive mode, it’ll never be able to counter Putin’s ambitions. Because Western powers simply don’t understand Putin’s strategy, they can’t follow his logic or anticipate his next moves. Hence, the Russian leader must be delusional and operating within an alternate reality. Now that’s crazy! Since some are clearly having difficulties comprehending Putin’s motives and messaging, I’ll try to explain how the Russian leader saw events unfold and why he took the actions he did. Putting myself in Putin’s place, when he answered that “three AM Call” it was Viktor Yanukovyck on the line pleading for help.   Because Yanukovych had just been chased out of his country by a bunch of marauding maulers accusing him of war crimes, the ousted president needed backup and he needed fast. When Putin turned on cable news and saw Ukrainians casually touring President Yanukovych’s home, after burning down anything and everything local authorities couldn’t protect, he felt compelled to offer assistance in restoring order before the madness spread. After all, Yanukovych was a useful neighbor. President Yanukovyck may be a loser, but as far as Putin is concerned, he was Ukraine’s elected loser and should have been voted out of office and not sent packing in the middle of the night like a common criminal. From Putin’s view, the newly self installed President and his hastily assembled government was a sham and consequently not to be taken seriously. Simply because Western Powers showed up in Kiev in support of the rowdies, that did nothing to established the legitimacy of those who claimed control by force. Until open fair and internationally monitored elections could be held, from where Putin stands, President Yanukvych is still the Ukrainian leader. BTW, this attitude is consistent with Russia’s long standing stance of letting the political process rule, not mob violence. If you think about it, the message was the same in Syria. To be accused of hypocrisy is a stretch at best. Sensing opportunity, Putin activated Moscow’s “mystery men” to meet Ukraine’s marauding maulers head on. While managing assets and events from afar, Putin was able to secure Russian interest by reestablishing connections with the locals in Crimea. So far, those actions are paying significant dividends. Apparently, Putin’s calculations of any Western response have already been factored in and whatever cost he might have to pay will be well worth the investment. Where is the crazy in that? As for those Sanctions: Newton’s Third Law of: “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction” should be applied here. Tightening Russia’s access to international banking, isolating Russia from the G-8 and G-20, wrecking Russia’s economy by tanking the ruble and freezing global  a la Iran may sound cool to a domestic audience, but the U.S. needs to mindful of how Russia can react to those threats. Apparently the Europeans are recalculating the pros and cons of joining the U.S. in crashing Russia’s economy for fear of the economic ripple effects it would cause. The U.K. and Germany may be talking hard but they’re walking softly around the issue of tough sanctions. In fact, at an emergency meeting in Brussels the foreign ministers of Germany, France, Italy and Spain openly resisted calls for trade sanctions against Russia. Instead, Europe seems content to limiting discussions to freezing long-running talks with Russia on visa liberalization that would have made it easier for Russians to visit Europe. Whoa, now that’ll bite em! While the Europe vacillates, the United States should worry about needing Russia’s cooperation getting the hell out of landlocked Afghanistan. Remember, Hamid Karzai will be giving the U.S. and NATO the old heave-ho at the end of the 2014. Between navigating hostile Pakistan and the opportunistic Taliban, the United States must rely on Russia for its exit strategy. With GOP assholes like John McCain and Lindsey Graham upping the ante without carefully considering the consequence makes no sense at all. Some could even call them crazy. Bottom line: The thought of Western critics making Vladimir Putin  out to be crazy, while the United States promises a questionable  government (at best) a billion bucks it doesn’t have and pledging support it can’t deliver, could actually be viewed as crazy too.

Issues Under Fire: US Government Wage Smear Campaign Against Whistleblower In a rare opportunity to communicate with the world at large, Edward Snowden used a live chat session and an interview with the New Yorker magazine this week to defend himself against unsubstantiated accusations of being a spy. Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Dianne Feinstein came very close to defamation of character, insinuating Snowden was a spy for the Russians without providing a shred of proof. Responding to allegations from members of the Senate and House intelligence committees that Snowden had help from the Russians and that’s why he ended up in Moscow, the former US spy contractor was quoted as saying: “This Russian spy push is absurd.” Snowden went on to state he “clearly and unambiguously acted alone, with no help from anyone, much less a government”. Mike Rogers, a congressional cheerleader for the robust use of the NSA’s spying and former FBI agent, stated he was currently investigating to determine if Snowden had help from Russia in stealing and divulging the United States’ most guarded secrets. Generally, government officials refrain from commenting on ongoing investigations to avoid making statements that can’t be backed up with irrefutable facts and evidence. In this case, Congressmen Rogers and Senator Feinstein blatanly engaged in reckless speculation bordering on outright libel and slander. Libel and slander is defined as thus: Collectively known as defamation, libel and slander are civil wrongs that harm a reputation; decrease respect, regard, or confidence; or induce disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against an individual or entity. By that definition, Mr. Snowden should be able to recover damages for the unmitigated smear campaign being waged against him. The only thing worse than what government officials are doing to destroy the life of a whistleblower who exposed government wrongdoing, is the fact that the nation’s Forth Estate failed to demand results from the governments so-called investigation or hold the culprits publicly accountable for not providing them. The Bottom line: Until the United States government can find a way to assassinate Edward Snowden’s ass, his character will have to do
