Illustrates the structure of Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus.

In this paper we present a data visualization method together with its potential usefulness in digital humanities and philosophy of language. We compile a multilingual parallel corpus from different versions of Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, including the original in German and translations into English, Spanish, French, and Russian. Using this corpus, we compute a similarity measure between propositions and render a visual network of relations for different languages.

Both in art and in life he is a wanderer between cultures and times. For more than 40 years, Pedro Meier has been commuting as a multimedia artist and writer between his studios in Europe, especially in Berlin, and his jungle studio on the Gulf of Siam in Thailand. This geographical expanse reflects his artistic pendulum movement between Orient and Occident. Pedro Meier's art is characterized by a fascinating synthesis between Zen Buddhism and the occidental Enlightenment. An outstanding feature of Pedro Meier's paintings are their calligraphic components. The abstract forms are reminiscent of both haikus, traditional Japanese poems, and medieval magic spells. The use of hieroglyphs and archaic cave paintings creates a bridge between past and present. Pedro Meier combines these elements into a unique visual language that is both mystical and timeless. Through his travels and explorations he has developed a deep connection to the Songlines, the dream paths of the Australian Aborigines. These songlines and dream paths are spiritual paths that lead through the land and create a connection to the ancestors and to nature. They are associated with songs, stories and works of art and serve as signposts and reminders. The fascination of songlines and dream paths can be found in Pedro Meier's works. Pedro Meier is a painter of Lyrical Abstraction, Informal Painting and Abstract Expressionism. The characteristics of these art movements are clearly visible in his works. In meiner Hofstatt steht ein uralter Kirschbaum. Als Knabe bin ich da hinaufgestiegen. Ich bin tagelang in der Kirschbaumkrone gesessen und habe dem Wind, den zwirbelnden Blättern zugeschaut. Ich habe am Himmel die treibenden Wolken verfolgt, mir vorgestellt, mit diesen Wolken, über ferner Länder, Meere und Kontinente zu treiben. Ich lebte quasi in den Bäumen. Ich erschuf mir meine eigene Welt.   Ich war Indianer, der letzte Mohikaner und Trapper, Grosswildjäger in Afrika und Flugpionier auf Atlantikflug zugleich. Und im Winter, wenn Schnee in der Hofstatt, lag durchquerte ich zu Fuss Grönland und die Antarktis. Im Sommer verirrte ich mich in die Wüste Gobi oder in die Sahara. Fantasie und Spiel. Ich malte mir Landkarten, Seekarten und Himmelskarten mit all den Sternbildern darin. Das waren also meine ersten Skulpturen und Bilder – so kam ich zur sogenannten Kunst.   Auch erzählte ich mir neue, selbst erfundene Märchen und Geschichten.
