1DTIC ADA456050: Towards A Semantic Web Of Community, Content And Interactions
By Defense Technical Information Center
The Web plays a critical role in hosting Web communities, their content and interactions. A prime example is the open source software (OSS) community, whose members, including software developers and users, interact almost exclusively over the Web. The OSS community constantly generates, shares and refines content in the form of software code through active interaction over the Web on code design and bug resolution processes. The knowledge and implementation experiences around the software content are implicit in the interactions in the community discussion forums on the Web. The Semantic Web is an envisaged extension of the current Web, in which content is given a well-defined meaning, through the specification of metadata and ontologies, that can be understood by software agents. This increases the utility of the content and enables information from heterogeneous sources to be integrated. Although the individual components of a Semantic Web are fairly well-understood, there is a research gap in the application of Semantic Web to a specific domain.

2Towards Web 3.0: A Unified Development Process For Web Applications Combining Semantic Web And Web 2.0 Technologies
In the last decade many development processes for web applications have been proposed, focusing on discrete web application classes. In this work, we focus on the two most prominent classes of web applications nowadays: Semantic Web and Web 2.0. We attempt to clarify two generic but effective development processes for each one, based on their unique characteristics. Furthermore, as the future web applications, namely Web 3.0, are considered to be the combination of the above classes, we describe a suitable application architecture for Web 3.0 applications together with a proposed hybrid development process in which their specific requirements are taken into consideration. Finally, our findings are presented on the effect of such a development process at the team management aspects of a Web 3.0 application development project.

4Towards A Semantic Web. A Comparison Between RDA And REICAT Descriptive Solutions
By Simone Forassiepi
Using the 9 areas identified by the ISBD as a guide, the paper proposes a descriptive comparison between the choices carried out by the authors of RDA and REICAT. Two different ways of understanding the basic entities of the bibliographic description are shaped through a detailed analysis of individual choices, and accordingly to this, two different perspectives for the future organization of resources. REICAT are even linked to the organization "on board", to punctuation and to the concept of the catalog, while the RDA is outlined as a new structure, designed for full flow of data through a semantic platform.

5Towards A Semantic Web Of Things Framework
By Nadim Ismail, El Ghayam Yassine, Sadiq Abdelalim
Information and communication teFchnologies (ICT) know a significant development especially in terms of hardware miniaturization, cost reduction and energy consumption optimization. This advancement enables the interconnection of a large number of physical objects namely using the Internet, forming what is called the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT provides the opportunity to interact with these objects through sensors, actuators and smart applications which may help users in several areas such as transport, logistics, health care, agriculture, etc. However, building the IoT requires a strong interoperability between thousands of heterogeneous devices and services. In this context, the SWoT (Semantic Web of Things) uses semantic Web technologies to enrich these devices and services with semantic annotations which enables the semantic interoperability. However, the development of SWOT-based systems on a large scale faces many challenges especially due to the large number of devices and services, their geographical distribution as well as their mobility. These challenges-which may affect the system performance as a whole-require innovative industry and research efforts. The current paper proposes a SWoT framework architecture that take into account the main SWoT challenges.
