450 bodies of civilians with traces of violent death and torture were buried in the forest. Today law enforcement officers started to exhume them. This is hard to imagine in the XXI century, but now it is a tragic reality in Izium. Most graves do not even have names on them. There is only a mark with a number. Among the bodies that were exhumed today, 99% have signs of violent death. There are several bodies with their hands tied behind their backs, and one person is buried with a rope around his neck. Summary:   As a young nun, Sister Dianna Ortiz went to Guatemala to teach indigenous children and support those being devastated by the military. She was kidnapped, tortured and then taken away by an American man. She jumped out of the car and ran. Vilified when she sought truth and justice, emotionally wrecked, she was helped by staying at the Marjorie Kovler Center for Survivors of Torture in Chicago. She went on to be a major campaigner for those whose human rights had been violated, in Guatemala and around the world. Since her death in 2021, she is venerated like a saint by many. Arar was seized at New York’s Kennedy Airport in 2002 on a stopover from a vacation abroad. Instead of allowing him to return home to Canada, Arar was sent to his native Syria, where he was tortured and interrogated in a tiny underground cell for nearly a year. Just after the Court’s decision was announced, Arar revealed a major new development: Canada’s federal law enforcement agency, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, is conducting a criminal investigation into US and Syrian officials for their role in Arar’s rendition and torture. CCR Senior Staff Attorney Maria LaHood talks about her client Maher Arar and the U.S. government’s responsibility for his torture in a Syrian prison. Maher Arar is a Canadian citizen who was on his way home to Toronto after a summer vacation with his family when he was detained by US officials at JFK airport and sent to a Syrian prison where he was tortured for over a year. This happened under the Bush administration’s “extraordinary rendition” policy, but neither the courts nor the Obama administration have since acknowledged any wrongdoing or compensated him for his suffering. Mr. Arar did not commit any crime and the Canadian government has both apologized to him and paid him 13 million Canadian dollars in compensation. This is the audio track, of the acceptance video, by a 30th Annual Letelier-Moffitt Human Rights awardee, Maher Arar. Arar is the innocent Syrian-born Canadian citizen who was kidnapped from JFK airport in New York on September 26, 2002 by FBI and INS officials and sent to Syria for torture. The video was played October 18, 2006 in Washington, DC at the Award Ceremony hosted by the Institute for Policy Studies and was presented by Vanessa Redgrave. Arar is the first victim of the US "Extraordinary Rendition" policy to speak out. He was transported to a prison in Syria where he was held for 10 months and 10 days in a cell that resembled a grave. He was beaten, tortured and forced to make a false confession about having ties to Al Qaeda. He was eventually released without charge. Arar remains on the U.S. no-fly list even though his own government in Canada has publicly acknowledged he is an innocent man. Letelier and Moffitt were assasinated (blown up in their car) on the streets of Washington, DC, September 21, 1976 as part of "Operation Condor". Those involved, Cuban "exile" terrorists, were protected by the United States.

The use of Torture, and development of Managed Care Organizations which seek to increase insurance profit revanues, while minimizing costs, at expense of patient care, and quality of life have created a need for humane euthanasia.
