4Role Of The First Coordination Shell In Determining The Equilibrium Structure And Dynamics Of Simple Liquids

By

The traditional view that the physical properties of a simple liquid are determined primarily by its repulsive forces was recently challenged by Berthier and Tarjus, who showed that in some cases ignoring the attractions leads to large errors in the dynamics [L. Berthier and G. Tarjus, Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 170601 (2009); J. Chem. Phys. 134, 214503 (2011)]. We present simulations of the standard Lennard-Jones liquid at several condensed-fluid state points, including a fairly low density state and a very high density state, as well as simulations of the Kob-Andersen binary Lennard-Jones mixture at several temperatures. By varying the range of the forces, results for the thermodynamics, dynamics, and structure show that the determining factor for getting the correct statics and dynamics is not whether or not the attractive forces {\it per se} are included in the simulations. What matters is whether or not interactions are included from all particles within the first coordination shell (FCS) - the attractive forces can thus be ignored, but only at extremely high densities. The recognition of the importance of a local shell in condensed fluids goes back to van der Waals; our results confirm this idea and thereby the basic picture of the old hole- and cell theories for simple condensed fluids.

8Microsoft Research Audio 103785: Candidate Talk: Why Task-structure Matters: The Effects Of Task And Social Forces On Coordination In Software Development

By

It is surprising to realize how much of our behavior is a result of the social and organizational constraints placed on us. In this talk I will describe how an engineer’s task and social structure affects how they perform their task and how this behavior affects their coworkers. Of particular importance to large software companies are the effects of globally distributed development, collocation, ‘water cooler conversations,’ and other forms of social interaction. I will describe how these variables combine to create a field of forces which then influences an engineer’s behavior. I will present data from a field study of a Microsoft product group, and preliminary results from a controlled group experiment to support this argument. A better understanding of how structural and social forces interact will help us diagnose and improve the coordination between team members and groups. With this understanding we can hope to save money, produce better software, and improve the work situation of software engineers and knowledge workers. ©2008 Microsoft Corporation. Approved For Release 2005/02142 : CIA-RDP80B01083A000'1130027-2 21 June 1962 :tit i:MO .ANDUM FOtR: Chairman, Critical Collection Problems Committee SUBJI..CT Coordination Staff Report Regarding the Com- mittee Structure of the United States Intelligence Board, 28 May 1962 (USIB-D-27.1/18, 31 May 1962) 1. Paragraph 9h of subject paper proposes a broadening of the CCPC's responsibility to permit it to deal with collection problems referred to it by the USIB, by a USIB committee or agency, or identi- fied by the CCPC itself. At present the CCPC concerns itself with col- 1'ction on certain critical problems specifically referred to it by the USIB. The CCPC is currently charged with collection problems relating to all aspects of the Soviet missile program. 2. Although recent USIB actions relative to collection efforts in Southeast Asia and Berlin are cited in subject memorandum as justifi- cation for extending the powers of CCPC, it is noted that the USIB chose to use elements other than the CCPC for the examination of col- lection actions in these problem areas. For example, in the case of Southeast Asia, an ad hoc committee was formed by the Board which studied the situation, recommended certain actions to the USIB, and was then dissolved. Presumably, the Board selected this approach as being appropriate to the problem at hand. 3. It would thus appear that the USIB, having available to it a number of ways to accomplish its ends, selects those it deems most suitable for the job at hand. Therefore, it seems that the USIB will utilize the CCPC when the services of that body are needed, and that this can be done by direct charge rather than by charter modification. 4. In short, the (:.CPC, under the terms of its present charter, is an instrument exclusively responsive to needs identified and expressed by the Board. A broadening of the Charter, aF proposed in paragraph 9h, could result in the CCPC's concerning itself with problems not identified by concerted Board action, but with those brought to the fore Approved For Release 2005/02/02 : CIA-RDP80B01083A0001061'30027-Z Approved For Release 2005/02/02 : CIA-RDP80B01083A000100130027-2 by action of a single committee or a single CCPC m.en-?ber. If this indeed is to be the role of the CCPC, a mechanism should be devised whereby the Board would ratify an action submitted to the CCPC prior to the corrirencerrent of work on it. 25X1 Technical Secretary, CCPC Approved For Release 2005/02/02 : CIA-RDP80B01083A000100130027-2

China Tobacco, Shanghai 200240, China 提交时间: 2017-11-05 摘要: A homochrial manganese(III) complex (1) derived from chiral salen ligand (1R,2R)-(-)-1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-diamine-N,N΄-bicarboxyl-salicylidene) has been synthesized through solvothermal procedure and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, TGA, circular dichroism (CD), powder and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. It crystallizes in orthorhombic, space group P212121 with a = 9.108(3), b = 16.431(5), c = 26.531(6) Å, V = 3970.4(19) Å3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.248 g/cm3, F(000) = 1568, Mr = 745.73, μ = 0.383 mm-1, the final GOOF = 0.957, R = 0.0631 and wR = 0.1079 for 13250 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The coordination polymer 1 possesses a 1D infinite zigzag chain architecture constructed by the dicarboxyl-functionalized metallosalen ligand (Mn-salen), and the polymeric chains are further assembled into a 3D supramolecular network structure via strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions between adjacent zigzag chains. As a heterogeneous catalyst, 1 was used as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the asymmetric olefin epoxidation. manganese(III) complex crystal structure salen asymmetric catalysis 分类: 化学 >> 物理化学 引用: ChinaXiv:201711.00163 (或此版本 ChinaXiv:201711.00163V1 ) doi:10.12074/201711.00163 CSTR:32003.36.ChinaXiv.201711.00163.V1 推荐引用方式: XIA Qing-Chun,LI Zi-Jian,LIU Yan,LIU Bai-Zhan,CUI Yong.(2017).Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Heterogeneous Catalysis of a New Chiral Manganese Coordination Polymer Based on the Schiff-base Ligand.结构化学.[ChinaXiv:201711.00163] 版本历史 [V1] 2017-11-05 19:53:11 ChinaXiv:201711.00163V1 下载全文

17DTIC ADA585265: The Defense And Veterans Brain Injury Center Care Coordination Program: Assessment Of Program Structure, Activities, And Implementation

By

Many consider traumatic brain injury (TBI) to be the signature wound of operations Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Although the majority of individuals with TBI can expect a full recovery, others require additional support services in a system that can be difficult to navigate, particularly through transitions across systems of care or changes of station. In 2007, several reports emphasized the need for care coordination services specific to TBI. In response, the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) launched the regional Care Coordination Program (CCP) to provide services to active duty service members and veterans with ongoing symptoms associated with a TBI incurred while serving in OEF and OIF. The DVBIC viewed CCP as a natural extension of its ongoing work to support active duty service members and veterans with TBI, as well as their beneficiaries, through clinical, research, and educational programs. Launched in 2007, CCP provides education and care coordination services to individuals with unresolved TBIs. Regional care coordinators work closely with individuals to assess their unique needs and provide recommendations for local program resources that will help to meet these needs. By design, individuals are followed for up to 2 years, with scheduled contacts at 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months after program enrollment, to assess problem resolution and the need for additional or different services. The purpose of this report is to assess CCP's program structure, activities, and implementation. We conducted this assessment between April and July 2012. During this assessment, we spoke with program leadership and 11 of the 14 regional care coordinators. These discussions included the following topics: program services, eligibility criteria, outreach activities, caseloads, work environments and staffing structure, barriers and facilitators of successful care coordination, perceived program benefits, and opportunities for improvement.

18ERIC ED093239: Coordination Or Chaos? Report Of The Task Force On Coordination, Governance And Structure Of Postsecondary Education.

By

This document reports on the findings of the task force on coordination, governance, and structure of postsecondary education. Major conclusions are: (1) The states have the preeminent responsibility for postsecondary education. (2) Each state should insure and promote a variety of postsecondary educational opportunities. (3) Particular attention must be paid to the changing population characteristics and social expectations that face postsecondary education in the period ahead, including a leveling-off or decrease in the traditional college-age population. (4) An effective coordinating agency or governing agency should have broadened responsibility for the range of postsecondary education, concern for educational innovations and new forms of educational "delivery," and concern for articulation. (5) In states with multiple statewide postsecondary agencies dealing with state plans and/or dispersal of state and federal funds, these activities should be coordinated by one central coordinating agency. (6) Each state should determine levels of authority and responsibility of coordination and governance and should develop state plans suggesting levels of decisionmaking consistent with that authority. (7) Planning and its effective implementqtion are the key to effective coordination and governance. (8) The legislative and executive branches of government should support planning and coordination through an appropriate state educational agency. (Author/MJM)
