The map extends from Bodega Bay, California to Cape Lookout, Oregon. Atlas, without title, as issued. Contains ten charts and six sheets of views (profiles of parts of the coastlines). Compare the English charts to the French issues in the French Neptune of 1820. Vancouver's charts were the most accurate of the area for many years into the 19th century. In addition to the eight Northwest Coast charts, there is a "Chart shewing part of the S.W. Coast of New Holland" (with inset charts of New Zealand) and "A Chart of the Sandwich Islands." Maps are without color and bound into half leather burgundy cloth covered boards with "Atlas To Vancouvers Voyage" stamped in gilt on a red leather label on the spine. Streeter calls the accounts of the voyage, "One of the most important accounts of the exploration of the Pacific Northwest and New Zealand, and valuable source of information about Tahiti and the Hawaiian Islands in the last decade of the eighteenth century." Voyage accounts are bound in three volumes, all in half leather with green cloth boards. "Vancouver's Voyage" and the volume number embossed in gold on spine. The 26-inch Great Equatorial, also known as the 26-inch Equatorial and the 26-inch Refractor, saw first light on November 12, 1873. It was commissioned from the firm Alvan Clark & Sons, and was the largest refractor in the world at the time. It was with this telescope in 1877 that Professor Asaph Hall discovered the Moons of Mars. In 1893, the Observatory moved from Foggy Bottom to its current location in Georgetown Heights. A new mounting, complete with elevating floor, was installed by the Warner & Swasey Company, to use with the original Alvan Clark objective. The majority of the 26-inch Refractor blueprints in this collection showcase the Warner and Swasey designs.

@IDF: In recent weeks, work has been carried out to prepare to receive the floating pier and to organize the space for receiving humanitarian aid in Gaza. It began with a joint workshop with the Americans which formed the planning basis to begin the work. Work was then carried out by the Engineering and Construction Directorate in the Ministry of Defense; led by the IDF Southern Command of the IDF, the engineering array, COGAT; accompanied by logistical coverage of the Technological and Logistics Directorate; and in cooperation with the US Army. The area of the project covers about 67 acres which are allocated for the operation and the passage of large amounts of goods to the field. In addition, a remote-controlled hydraulic gate system is being built, allowing for operational and logistical flexibility. Extensive electrical work is being done to support the facility and to accommodate the arrival of aid, both by land and by sea. The floating pier, through which the humanitarian aid will be transferred, is being built by the Americans and will be connected to the shore. While in maritime space, the Naval Branch will secure the forces in the humanitarian aid mission, from the stage of the arrival of the naval SDF until the end of the operation.

Location: Section 1, Row I, Seat 3 Recorded by: Relayer35 Comments: Here is the Yes/Asia show from the "South Shore Music Circus" in lovely Cohasset, Massachusetts. This venue is really out of the way, and very small. I guess it holds about 2300 noisy fans, and the place was pretty full. The performance was okay, but the compressed setlist from both bands left a lot to be desired. I saw Asia back in 2006 at Foxwoods, and there is only one song from their set that wasn't played at that show. Similarly, every song from the Yes set was played when I saw them last November at Mohegan Sun. The recording is decent. There are no major flaws. Sound is a bit flat. The biggest issue with this recording is that the crowd was loud and obnoxious. It was actually more distracting at the show then it is on the recording. Yelling "Freebird" wasn't funny during the Asia set, it was even less funny the second time around during the Yes set. It doesn't ruin the recording, but I still wonder why fans must be so obnoxious during these shows. Another issue is that the cymblas are kind of loud in places. This is because the show was in the round and the stage would rotate. At times, when the back of the stage was in front of me, the cymbals from the drum kit would be very loud as I was picking up the sound from the stage. It's still a decent recording, but not the best Yes concert I've ever attended. -- MP July 2009

Very little outdoor recreation and tourism research uses scientifically-grounded climate change projections or weather data to predict future recreation demand using standard contingent behavior methods. The demand studies that have presented visitors with projected changes to climate and weather are limited to predicting visitation demand in a single season at a single destination. This research note reports a replication of a winter tourism demand model for the summer tourism season at the same nature-based tourism destination. A comparison of model findings between the two seasons allows us to determine if, and how, summer and winter tourism demand to a specific destination will be affected by climate change. While winter demand is driven by multiple dimensions of place meanings, summer travel is motivated solely by how the destination shapes individuals’ identities. This replication also considers an additional weather variable – daily high temperature on the day visitors completed the survey – to better understand the relationship between in situ weather conditions and recreationists’ intended travel behaviors. Management implications: • North Shore visitors’ future travel behavior, contingent upon warmer temperatures and altered environmental conditions, was not significantly different than past travel behavior. • The projected conditions presented in the scenarios might not have been severe enough that respondents believed they would substantially impact recreational opportunities on the North Shore. • The maximum daily high temperature on the day a respondent was surveyed was not significantly related to contingent travel behaviors. • Recreation resource managers and those in the tourism industry are not likely to see substantial shifts in tourism demand to the region over the next 20 years.

Very little outdoor recreation and tourism research uses scientifically-grounded climate change projections or weather data to predict future recreation demand using standard contingent behavior methods. The demand studies that have presented visitors with projected changes to climate and weather are limited to predicting visitation demand in a single season at a single destination. This research note reports a replication of a winter tourism demand model for the summer tourism season at the same nature-based tourism destination. A comparison of model findings between the two seasons allows us to determine if, and how, summer and winter tourism demand to a specific destination will be affected by climate change. While winter demand is driven by multiple dimensions of place meanings, summer travel is motivated solely by how the destination shapes individuals’ identities. This replication also considers an additional weather variable – daily high temperature on the day visitors completed the survey – to better understand the relationship between in situ weather conditions and recreationists’ intended travel behaviors. Management implications: • North Shore visitors’ future travel behavior, contingent upon warmer temperatures and altered environmental conditions, was not significantly different than past travel behavior. • The projected conditions presented in the scenarios might not have been severe enough that respondents believed they would substantially impact recreational opportunities on the North Shore. • The maximum daily high temperature on the day a respondent was surveyed was not significantly related to contingent travel behaviors. • Recreation resource managers and those in the tourism industry are not likely to see substantial shifts in tourism demand to the region over the next 20 years.
