The array, consisting of three parallel cylindrical reflectors and equipped with 96 dual-polarization feeds, is a radio interferometer array designed for conducting drift scans of the northern celestial semi-sphere. The FRB digital backend enables the formation of 96 digital beams, effectively covering an area of approximately 40 square degrees with the 3 dB beam. Our pipeline demonstrates the capability to conduct an automatic search of FRBs, detecting at quasi-real-time and classifying FRB candidates automatically. The current FRB searching pipeline has an overall recall rate of 88%. During the commissioning phase, we successfully detected signals emitted by four well-known pulsars: PSR B0329+54, B2021+51, B0823+26, and B2020+28. We report the first discovery of an FRB by our array, designated as FRB 20220414A. Each member of the Intelligence Community (IC) has a specific charge, an essential role to play in providing the best information possible to our nation's leaders. This issue's theme, unifying the intelligence profession, intimates the essential pursuit by all members of the IC to discover new ways to better integrate our disciplines. NGA has sought vigorously to implement the goal of greater IC integration. The Pathfinder invited Mike McConnell, Director of National Intelligence, to share his vision. In his guest column, McConnell discusses several ways in which integrated relationships have developed among members of the IC and its mission partners, including the introduction in March 2008 of the online Classified Pathfinder, accessible by members of the IC. McConnell also reiterates DNI initiatives that will unify the community more. NGA has led the community in instilling closer cooperation by reaching out to our mission partners and providing dedicated NGA Support Teams (NSTs). To coordinate the GEOINT needs and resources of the IC, NGA practices Unified GEOINT Operations (UGO), exemplified by the NST at the Defense Intelligence Agency. In another article, we explore NGA's collaborative partnership with CIA. A discussion of a joint program of NGA and the National Security Agency amplifies the value of a multi-intelligence approach. The community can only benefit as this program expands throughout the IC. Several articles explore the application and development of technology. The transfer to NGA of functional management of a significant collection tool demonstrates the DNI's commitment to aligning the IC for optimum efficiency, as indicated in NGA Integrates ONIR Into the Mainstream. Photogrammetry Team Models Cloud Formation and Advanced Geospatial Intelligence Enhances Commercial Imagery examine different but ultimately complementary methods by which NGA scientists are expanding the tools available to the IC and the military services.

Pathfinders were deployed in different theaters of war under totally different types of warfare, enemy idiosyncrasies, terrain, strategy and tactics, and as such they were called on to rapidly evolve and adapt to these different situations. The primary focus of this study is to provide a historical account and analysis of the U.S. Pathfinder from 1942 to what they are today, in order to understand this adaptability. This study traces the late development of Pathfinder Operations by the U.S. Army during World War II (WWII), and selected employments of Pathfinders in both, the European and Pacific Theaters of operations. This historical account will also explore Pathfinder Operations and employment during the Vietnam and Afghanistan Wars. The research concept illustrates three archetypal historical examples: WWII, which was to see the development of full-scale Airborne Operations; the Vietnam War, which was the proving ground for Air Mobility Operations, and Afghanistan, were pathfinders added a new dimension to their capabilities by conducting personal recovery missions during Operation Enduring Freedom. The intent of this study is to give us a better optic on how the Pathfinder strategy has evolved over the course of 70 years, which will allow us to determine their specific contribution to mission success. In doing so, it will provide insights into Pathfinder doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures, strategy, technology and lessons learned from their origin at the British, 21st Independent Parachute Company to today's modern warfare. It aims to draw conclusions and recommendations to optimize the employment of Pathfinder and Pathfinder Operations to meet the threats and challenges of today's ever-changing environment.

The iPAS is an integrated hardware/software test and evaluation environment, in support of current and future spacecraft development The iPAS has two main elements. A common avionics, hardware, and software architecture that can be applied over various missions. A common testbed framework that supports integrated hardware/software testing for a variety of applications. The iPAS includes the following (non-flight qualified) components: Core Flight Software (from GSFC). Commercially available Proton and S950 Flight Computer boards. Power and propulsion systems based on representative flight hardware. A realistic flight deck based on the Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), including realistic flight controls and displays. A Space Data System based on CCSDS protocols.

Evoked potentials (EP) are emerging as a useful diagnostic tool to determine the functional integrity of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential (BAEP) provides a rapid assessment of the functioning of the brainstem. The individual components, or waves, represent the conduction time, and hence state of conduction in various structures of the auditory pathway. Signal averaging systems, such as the Nicolet Pathfinder II, extract the EP from the background electroencephalogram. Because different labs may differ slightly in technique, location, lighting and sound levels, norms must first be established when beginning work with a new system or in a new laboratory. In order to establish the ability of the system to replicate results and to create a database of normal values, 22 male and 13 female subjects were tested twice on each of two days. Using the International Electrode Placement System, surface electrodes were placed at C(Z) A1, A2 and F(PZ). Two sets of 2000 rarefaction clicks were presented at the rate of 11.1/ sec at 75 dB. White noise was presented simultaneously to the contralateral ear at 45 dB. The absolute latency of the five major peaks of the BAEP were assessed for replicability, as were the interpeak latencies for Waves I - III, III -V and I - V. differences due to Gender were also analyzed. Using a relational DBMS as back-end engine for an XQuery processing system leverages relational query optimization and scalable query processing strategies provided by mature DBMS engines in the XML domain. Though a lot of theoretical work has been done in this area and various solutions have been proposed, no complete systems have been made available so far to give the 'hard' (practical) evidence that this is a viable approach. In this talk, I describe our first iteration of using an extensible RDBMS to build a relational XQuery processor. Performance results for the XMark benchmark show that the system is capable of evaluating XQuery queries efficiently, even if the input XML documents become huge. We additionally present further contributions such as loop-lifted staircase join, techniques to derive order properties and to reduce sorting effort in the generated relational algebra plans, as well as a method for recognizing XQuery join patterns, which – taken together – enabled us to reach our performance and scalability goals. ©2005 Microsoft Corporation. One of the Survey Science Projects that the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope will do in its first few years of operation is a study of the 21-cm line of HI and the 18-cm lines of OH in the Galactic Plane and the Magellanic Clouds and Stream. The wide-field ASKAP can survey a large area with very high sensitivity much faster than a conventional telescope because of its focal plane array of receiver elements. The brightness sensitivity for the widespread spectral line emission of the interstellar medium depends on the beam size and the survey speed. In the GASKAP survey, maps with different resolutions will be synthesized simultaneously; these will be matched to different scientific applications such as diffuse HI and OH emission, OH masers, and HI absorption toward background continuum sources. A great many scientific questions will be answered by the GASKAP survey results; a central topic is the exchange of matter and energy between the Milky Way disk and halo. The survey will show how neutral gas at high altitude (z) above the disk, like the Magellanic Stream, makes its way down through the halo, what changes it experiences along the way, and how much is left behind.

This is a review about LISA and its technology demonstrator, LISA PathFinder. We first describe the conceptual problems which need to be overcome in order to set up a working interferometric detector of low frequency Gravitational Waves (GW), then summarise the solutions to them as currently conceived by the LISA mission team. This will show that some of these solutions require new technological abilities which are still under development, and which need proper test before being fully implemented. LISA PathFinder (LPF) is the the testbed for such technologies. The final part of the paper will address the ideas and concepts behind the PathFinder as well as their impact on LISA.

MARS PATHFINDER PROJECT TEST CONFIGURATION IN THE SPACE POWER FACILITY (SPF) NASA PLUM BROOK STATION

Canary is the Multi-Object Adaptive Optics (MOAO) pathfinder for the future MOAO-assisted Integral-Field Units (IFU) proposed for Extremely Large Telescopes (ELT). The MOAO concept relies on tomographically reconstructing the turbulence using multiple measurements along different lines of sight. Tomography requires the knowledge of the statistical turbulence parameters, commonly recovered from the system telemetry using a dedicated profiling technique. For demonstration purposes with the MOAO pathfinder Canary , this identification is performed thanks to the Learn & Apply (L&A) algorithm, that consists in model- fitting the covariance matrix of WFS measurements dependent on relevant parameters: $C_n^2(h)$ profile, outer scale profile and system mis-registration. We explore an upgrade of this algorithm, the Learn 3 Steps (L3S) approach, that allows one to dissociate the identification of the altitude layers from the ground in order to mitigate the lack of convergence of the required empirical covariance matrices therefore reducing the required length of data time-series for reaching a given accuracy. For nominal observation conditions, the L3S can reach the same level of tomographic error in using five times less data frames than the L&A approach. The L3S technique has been applied over a large amount of Canary data to characterize the turbu- lence above the William Herschel Telescope (WHT). These data have been acquired the 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th September 2013 and we find 0.67"/8.9m/3.07m/s of total seeing/outer scale/wind-speed, with 0.552"/9.2m/2.89m/s below 1.5 km and 0.263"/10.3m/5.22m/s between 1.5 and 20 km. We have also de- termined the high altitude layers above 20 km, missed by the tomographic reconstruction on Canary , have a median seeing of 0.187" and have occurred 16% of observation time.

We introduce the DM Radio, a dual search for axion and hidden photon dark matter using a tunable superconducting lumped-element resonator. We discuss the prototype DM Radio Pathfinder experiment, which will probe hidden photons in the 500 peV (100 kHz)-50 neV (10 MHz) mass range. We detail the design of the various components: the LC resonant detector, the resonant frequency tuning procedure, the differential SQUID readout circuit, the shielding, and the cryogenic mounting structure. We present the current status of the pathfinder experiment and illustrate its potential science reach in the context of the larger experimental program.
