The din of the Battle of Berlin had not yet died down when National Socialism and its leader Adolf Hitler were on their way to becoming myth and legend. National Socialism was not just another political idea, but also a popular movement that always maintained a halo capable of producing unfathomable emotions in the human soul, a feeling that was magnified with the physical disappearance of the Reich. Part of the group that gave rise to the Nazi worldview came from circles fully imbued with a process of revaluation of the Germanic past and its pagan culture. Ancient Germanic symbols such as the runes, or the ideographic cultural expressions of the great Indo-European branch such as the swastika or the solar wheel, as well as old sagas and the echo of pagan gods, were present in the initial breeding ground of National Socialism as a way of revalorizing a cultural past exclusive to Germanic uniqueness. But all this symbology and the rescue of myths and traditions were used within the margins of the biologist cosmovision so that they never rose with their own life as a way of presenting an ideological alternative parallel to the evolutionist one. It was under this dynamic of events that figures such as Miguel Serrano and Savitri Devi, without any relation between them, were moved and impacted by the pseudo-mythological drama of National Socialism, assuming the task of carrying out a kind of revaluation of the spiritual halo that surrounded that true “Twilight of the Gods”.

Interest in physiology/cognition relations is increasing, in step with the realization that the individual ages as a whole, adaptive, living system. If a physiological system declines, a person's cognitive abilities may be reduced, unless some compensatory mechanism operates. Understanding this set of relationships permits potential interventions. This study explored the influences of blood pressure on memory for designs and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale vocabulary performance in terms of seven theoretical models which test not only for linear effects but for effects having a more complex, nonlinear time-lagged form as well. Each of a large number of hypotheses was tested twice, first with systolic, then with diastolic pressure variables. The 25-year data base of the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging was used. Significant complex relationships between blood pressure and cognition were found. The theory that best fits results of this study is that optimal pressure delivers optimal oxygen to the brain, and optimal pressure depends on the state of the whole system, maintained and adjusted by age related feedback loops connected to both blood pressure and cognitive adaptive systems. The use of nonlinear, lagged multivariate models is recommended, since these hypotheses received support. (Author/ABL)

140 years ago, on March 1 (Old Style) 1881, as a result of a terrorist act, the Russian Emperor Alexander II, who went down in history under the famous name Tsar-Liberator, died. A unique monument to Alexander II in St. Petersburg is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ (Savior on Spilled Blood), built on the site of the attempted assassination of the emperor. The deeds of Alexander II are depicted on the granite plates of the facade of the church, a memorial canopy was erected over the place of the fatal wound. Truly the best spiritual compositions will be performed in memory of the emperor. Mournful intonations are illuminated with a comforting light that allows the soul to open itself towards exultation in anticipation of eternal life. The St. Petersburg Concert Choir performs regularly at the Savior on Spilled Blood Memorial Church. The sacred music of Russian composers performed by this wonderful group under the direction of Vladimir Begletsov not only evokes deep aesthetic experiences, but also helps to remember and feel, as a continuous history of Russia, its tragedy and hopeful spirituality.
