Further, if any $\nabla^{\g}$ geodesic in $\g$ is send in a $\nabla^{G}$ geodesic we can show that the It\^o exponential and the It\^o logarithm are the same that the stochastic exponential and the stochastic logarithm due to M. Hakim-Dowek and D. L\'epingle in [10]. Consequently, we have a Campbell-Hausdorf formula. From this formula we show that the set of affine maps from $(M,\nabla^{G})$ into $(G,\nabla^{G})$ is a subgroup of the Loop group. As in general, the Lie algebra is considered as smooth manifold with a flat connection, we show a Campbell-Hausdorf formula for a flat connection on $\g$ and a bi-invariant connection on $G$. To this main we introduce the definition of the null quadratic variation property. To end, we use the Campbell-Hausdorff formula to show that a product of harmonic maps with value in $G$ is a harmonic map.

Global optimality analysis in sub-Riemannian problem on the Lie group SH(2) is considered. We cutout open dense domains in the preimage and in the image of the exponential mapping based on the description of Maxwell strata. We then prove that the exponential mapping restricted to these domains is a diffeomorphism. Based on the proof of diffeomorphism, the cut time, i.e., time of loss of global optimality is computed on SH(2). We also consider the global structure of the exponential mapping and obtain an explicit description of cut locus and optimal synthesis.

The Liouville equation is well known to be linearizable by a point transformation. It has an infinite dimensional Lie point symmetry algebra isomorphic to a direct sum of two Virasoro algebras. We show that it is not possible to discretize the equation keeping the entire symmetry algebra as point symmetries. We do however construct a difference system approximating the Liouville equation that is invariant under the maximal finite subalgebra $ SL_x \lf 2 , \mathbb{R} \rg \otimes SL_y \lf 2 , \mathbb{R} \rg $. The invariant scheme is an explicit one and provides a much better approximation of exact solutions than comparable standard (non invariant) schemes.

Chevalley's theorem states that for any simple finite dimensional Lie algebra G (1) the restriction homomorphism of the algebra of polynomials on G onto the Cartan subalgebra H induces an isomorphism between the algebra of G-invariant polynomials on G with the algebra of W-invariant polynomals on H, where W is the Weyl group of G, (2) each G-invariant polynomial is a linear combination of the powers of traces tr r(x), where r is a finite dimensional representation of G. None of these facts is necessarily true for simple Lie superalgebras. We reformulate Chevalley's theorem so as to embrace Lie superalgebras. Chevalley's theorem for anti-invariant polynomials is also given.

The work extends the linear fields' solution of compressible nonlinear magnetohydrodynamics~(MHD) to the case where the magnetic field depends on superlinear powers of position vector, usually but not always, expressed in Cartesian components. Implications of the resulting Lie-Taylor series expansion for physical applicability of the Dolzhansky-Kirchhoff~(D-K) equations are found to be positive. It is demonstrated how resistivity may be included in the D-K model. Arguments are put forward that the D-K equations may be regarded as illustrating properties of nonlinear MHD in the same sense that the Lorenz equations inform about the onset of convective turbulence. It is suggested that the Lie-Taylor series approach may lead to valuable insights into other fluid models.

We state a conjecture (due to M. Duflo) analogous to the Kashiwara--Vergne conjecture in the case of a characteristic $p>2$, where the role of the Campbell--Hausdorff series is played by the Jacobson element. We prove a simpler version of this conjecture using Vergne's explicit rational solution of the Kashiwara--Vergne problem. Our result is related to the structure of the Grothendieck--Teichm\"{u}ller Lie algebra $\mathfrak{grt}$ in characteristic $p$: we conjecture existence of a generator of $\mathfrak{grt}$ in degree $p-1$, and we provide this generator for $p=3$ and $p=5$.

A. Dzhumadil'daev classified all irreducible finite dimensional representations of the simple n-Lie algebra. Using a slightly different approach, we obtain in this paper a complete classification of all irreducible, highest weight modules, including the infinite-dimensional ones. As a corollary we find all primitive ideals of the universal enveloping algebra of this simple n-Lie algebra.

The aim of this paper is to describe the irregular locus of the commuting variety of a reductive symmetric Lie algebra. More precisely, we want to enlighten a remark of Popov. In [Po], the irregular locus of the commuting variety of any reductive Lie algebra is described and its codimension is computed. This provides a bound for the codimension of the singular locus of this commuting variety. [Po, Remark 1.13] suggests that the arguments and methods of [Po] are suitable for obtaining analogous results in the symmetric setting. We show that some difficulties arise in this case and we obtain some results on the irregular locus of the component of maximal dimension of the "symmetric commuting variety". As a by-product, we study some pairs of commuting elements specific to the symmetric case, that we call rigid pairs. These pairs allow us to find all symmetric Lie algebras whose commuting variety is reducible.

Lie: The Love and Terror Cult is the debut studio album by American musician and convicted murderer Charles Manson . It was released on vinyl on March 6, 1970, by Phil Kaufman , through a record label branded Awareness Records. Although not a commercial success, it retains a following among those interested in the Manson case, inspiring many cover versions and samples . [ 4 ] The album includes some of Manson's best known songs, including " Look at Your Game, Girl " and " Cease to Exist " (the latter had been recorded by the Beach Boys as "Never Learn Not to Love"). The cover is a parody of the December 19, 1969, Life magazine cover, which featured Manson along with the headline "The Love and Terror Cult". The two covers are mostly identical; however, the "F" in "LIFE" has been deleted and the line "The dark edge of hippie life" has been removed. The date and price are replaced with the Awareness Records logo.

A finite-dimensional Lie algebra is called (symmetric) self-dual, if it possesses an invariant nondegenerate (symmetric) bilinear form. Symmetric self-dual Lie algebras have been studied by Medina and Revoy, who have proven a very useful theorem about their structure. In this paper we prove a refinement of their theorem which has wide applicability in Conformal Field Theory, where symmetric self-dual Lie algebras start to play an important role due to the fact that they are precisely the Lie algebras which admit a Sugawara construction. We also prove a few corollaries which are important in Conformal Field Theory. (This paper provides mathematical details of results used, but only sketched, in the companion paper hep-th/9506151.)

A manifold with a ``Lie structure at infinity'' is a non-compact manifold $M_0$ whose geometry is described by a compactification to a manifold with corners M and a Lie algebra of vector fields on M, subject to constraints only on $M \smallsetminus M_0$. The Lie structure at infinity on $M_0$ determines a metric on $M_0$ up to bi-Lipschitz equivalence. This leads to the natural problem of understanding the Riemannian geometry of these manifolds. We prove, for example, that on a manifold with a Lie structure at infinity the curvature tensor and its covariant derivatives are bounded. We also study a generalization of the geodesic spray and give conditions for these manifolds to have positive injectivity radius. An important motivation for our work is to study the analysis of geometric operators on manifolds with a Lie structure at infinity. For example, a manifold with cylindrical ends is a manifold with a Lie structure at infinity. The relevant analysis in this case is that of totally characteristic operators on a compact manifold with boundary equipped with a ``b-metric.'' The class of conformally compact manifolds, which was recently proved of interest in the study of Einstein's equation, also consists of manifolds with a Lie structure at infinity.

We investigate dual realizations of non--commutative spaces of Lie algebra type in terms of formal power series in the Weyl algebra. To each realization of a Lie algebra $\g$ we associate a star--product on the symmetric algebra $S(\g)$ and an ordering on the enveloping algebra $U(\g)$. Dual realizations of $\g$ are defined in terms of left--right duality of the star--products on $S(\g)$. It is shown that the dual realizations are related to an extension problem for $\g$ by shift operators whose action on $U(\g)$ describes left and right shift of the generators of $U(\g)$ in a given monomial. Using properties of the extended algebra, in the Weyl symmetric ordering we derive closed form expressions for the dual realizations of $\g$ in terms of two generating functions for the Bernoulli numbers. The theory is illustrated by considering the $\kappa$--deformed space.

We prove the Weyl denominator identity for the affine Lie superalgebra gl(2|2)^ conjectured by V. Kac and M. Wakimoto. As it was pointed out in their paper, this gives another proof of Jacobi identity for the number of presentations of a given integer as a sum of eight squares.

The case of systems invariant with respect to group acton is considered together with appropriate reduction of the Tulczyjew triple. The theory is applied to free rigid-body dynamics.

A new, so called odd Gel'fand-Zetlin basis is introduced for the irreducible covariant tensor representations of the Lie superalgebra gl(n|n). The related Gel'fand-Zetlin patterns are based upon the decomposition according to a particular chain of subalgebras of gl(n|n). This chain contains only genuine Lie superalgebras of type gl(k|l) with k and l nonzero (apart from the final element of the chain which is gl(1|0)=gl(1)). Explicit expressions for a set of generators of the algebra on this Gel'fand-Zetlin basis are determined. The results are extended to an explicit construction of a class of irreducible highest weight modules of the general linear Lie superalgebra gl(\infty|\infty).

This paper examines the controllability for quantum control systems with SU(1,1) dynamical symmetry, namely, the ability to use some electromagnetic field to redirect the quantum system toward a desired evolution. The problem is formalized as the control of a right invariant bilinear system evolving on the Lie group SU(1,1) of two dimensional special pseudo-unitary matrices. It is proved that the elliptic condition of the total Hamiltonian is both sufficient and necessary for the controllability. Conditions are also given for small time local controllability and strong controllability. The results obtained are also valid for the control systems on the Lie groups SO(2,1) and SL(2,R).

In particular we study the class of 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras, their deformations and we compute the cohomology which parametrize the deformations in this class.
