1Longitudinal Associations Among Exposure To Thin-ideal Images On The Internet, Body Talk, And Body Dissatisfaction: A Study Of Japanese University Students.
By Nahori Ito, Akira Hasegawa, Yuko Matsuda, Tetsuya Yamamoto, Shin-ichi Oura, Takuro Tomita and Masaki Adachi
Body talk is how people talk with others about their bodies, classified into three types based on its content: negative fat talk, negative muscle talk, and positive body talk. Negative fat talk is complaining about being fat or losing weight. Negative muscle talk is discussing the desire or the obligation to build muscles. Positive body talk is conversations about accepting or affirming the body and eating habits (Lin et al., 2021). Studies have suggested that negative fat talk is positively associated, whereas positive body talk is negatively associated with body fat dissatisfaction, especially among women (Arroyo et al., 2022; Lin et al., 2021; Takamura et al., 2019). However, previous studies did not indicate the causality between these variables. This longitudinal study plans to investigate the causal relationships between these two types of body talk and body dissatisfaction using a questionnaire to evaluate the participants’ subjective body dissatisfaction and the discrepancy between the ideal and actual body image. The study also plans to examine whether negative fat talk and positive body talk moderate the association between exposure to thin-ideal images on the Internet and body dissatisfaction. Research has suggested that exposure to ideal images, including peers or celebrities, on the Internet, is associated with body dissatisfaction (Rounsefell et al., 2019). Fardouly and Vartanian (2015) suggested that engaging in Facebook photo activities was associated with body dissatisfaction due to comparing own body shape with others. This study will examine whether negative fat talk can increase the association between exposure to thin-ideal images on the Internet and body fat dissatisfaction, whereas positive body talk can decrease this association for reasons described in the Hypotheses section. A previous study of men and women indicated that negative muscle talk is associated with increased maladaptive muscle gain behaviors and dissatisfaction regarding body size and shape (Lin et al., 2021; Sladek et al., 2014), suggesting that people who engage in negative muscle talk have internalized an athletic body shape. However, previous studies have not extensively studied the influence of negative muscle talk. Therefore, the current study plans to use a longitudinal design to examine the effect of negative muscle talk. This study will investigate the longitudinal associations among the variables described above in female university students because the desire to be thin is a problem observed mainly in young Japanese women (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, 2019). However, the current study also explores the effects of the study variables on male students.

12ERIC EJ1060558: The Ideal University Teacher According To The Views Of Greek Students
By ERIC
During the last decades, there has occurred an increasing interest in the research literature regarding college teaching. Especially the image of the professor is often combined with various stereotypes, prejudiced attitudes and misunderstandings since it is connected with the correlated situation in universities. The current paper is dealing with the image of the ideal professor as expressed by students in universities. The research is conducted with the use of a questionnaire, where students are called to express their agreement or disagreement on certain statements. The data analysis is correlated with various independent variables, such as the students' gender, age and political belief. The statements cover all the aspects of a professor's action, from knowledge and teaching method to political action and relations with society. Hence, we attempt to create a distinct profile of what the students regard as the ideal professor.

15ERIC ED261403: Achieving The Ideal Writing Center By Establishing The Role Of The Writing Center Within The College Or University.
By ERIC
Although to speak of achieving the ideal writing center is to entertain a most romantic notion, there are steps that can be taken to improve the quality of a college or university writing center. The mission of the writing center, which may vary from school to school, must be clearly established. The organization of the center should be examined. The simpler the internal organizational structure of the writing center, the more smoothly and efficiently it will operate. Thus, one administrator, mature and well-prepared tutors, and adequate financial compensation will create a more effective center. Appropriate facilities and tutorial materials as well as computers, must also be examined. One final factor to consider is the responsibility of the faculty to the writing center. Ultimately, the mission of the writing center should be understood: to teach students writing skills. (DF)

1Historie van mejuffrouw Sara Burgerhart
By Aagje Deken and Betje Wolff
(Carola Janssen)

2Fliegende Holländer
By Julius Wolff

By Betje Wolff

4United States Senate Election, Expulsion, and Censure Cases, 1793-1990
By Anne M. Butler and Wendy Wolff
Article I, section 5, of the United States Constitution gives each house of Congress power to judge the elections, returns, and qualifications of its members, and to punish members for "disorderly behavior." Between 1793 and 1990, more than 200 senators faced challenges to their credentials based on their qualifications for office and alleged irregularities in their elections; or discipline for offenses ranging from public corruption, to giving aid and comfort to the Confederacy, to bringing dishonor upon the Senate in myriad other ways, or for pure political spite. As researched and written by staff of the Congressional Research Service, these are their stories. The arc of the book, each case told in chronological order, traces not only the tenor and politics of the times, but the evolution of the Senate's own thinking about what it means to be a United States Senator. - Summary by Joanne Turner.
