In the present paper we introduce a full and closed system of atomic kinetic equations on fractions of atomic energy levels taking into account the effect of the plasma ions electric microfield mixing dynamics. The system of equations that we present is deduced from a full quantum multi-atomic states density matrix master equation. The analytical derivation of this atomic kinetic system of equations is based on the introduction of a new hierarchy chain of equations involving a new set of statistical atomic variables. The final system of atomic kinetic equations is obtained by introducing relation de fermeture to truncate the hierarchy chain of equations. We show that the final system of equations contains a new plasma ions electric microfield dependent atomic rates related to the process of mixing dynamics of atomic energy states. The analytical expression of this rate is given in this paper. We discuss the importance of the present analysis in view of the radiation emission originating from dense plasmas created by the interaction of the X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL) with solid density matter.

In this work, resolutions will be given for commonly stated problems associated with a model that assumes that space and time are discretized (i.e., atomized). This model is in contrast to the continuous space-time model that is used in all common physical theories and equations -- a model that assumes that spatial coordinates and time are continuous variables. The resolutions to the problems are arrived at, not by proposing any new theories or postulates, but by strictly adhering to: Ernst Mach's principle of non-absolute space, the tenets of logical positivism, quantum mechanics and general relativity. The problems associated with discrete space-time addressed in this paper include: Lorentz contraction (time dilation) of the ostensibly smallest spatial (temporal) interval, maintaining isotropy, violations of causality, and conservation of energy and momentum. Importantly, this work yields modifications to the standard formulae for time dilation and length contraction, with these modifications preserving the quantums of space and time and allowing for temporary travel at the speed of light. Also given are: a resolution to Weyl's tile argument, a modification of the 2500 year old Pythagoras's theorem, a reassessment of Henri Bergson's theory advocating a distinction between the time durations measured by scientists and an immutable "Time", and a discussion of whether Einstein's light-clocks are as ideal as most scientist believe. Also included is a demonstration of how discrete space imposes order upon John Wheeler's quantum foam such that the foam becomes a gravity crystal permeating all space and producing measurable inertial anomalies of astronomical bodies.

The 34th annual Sanibel Symposium, organized by the faculty and staff of the Quantum Theory Project of the University of Florida, was held on February 12- 19, 1994 at the Marriott at Sawgrass Resort, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. More than 300 participants gathered for 8 days of lectures and informal discussions. The format of the symposium adopted for the past few years was followed again this year with a compact 8-day schedule with an integrated program of quantum biology, quantum chemistry, and condensed matter physics. The topics of the sessions covered by these proceedings include Propagator and Resolvent Theory, Perturbation Theory, Density Functional Theory for Molecules, High Performance Parallel Computing Algorithms, Weakly Bound Molecular Systems, Theoretical Inorganic Chemistry, Temporal Phenomena, Quantum Dynamics at Interphases, Energy Depositions, Non-Linear Optical Phenomena, and Novel Condensed Systems. The quantum electrodynamic theory of the nuclear recoil effect on the atomic g factor to all orders in \alpha Z and to first order in m/M is formulated. The complete \alpha Z-dependence formula for the recoil correction to the bound-electron g factor in a hydrogenlike atom is derived. This formula is used to calculate the recoil correction to the bound-electron g factor in the order (\alpha Z)^2 m/M for an arbitrary state of a hydrogenlike atom.

A self-consistent theory is derived to describe the BCS-BEC crossover for a strongly interacting Fermi gas with a Feshbach resonance. In the theory the fluctuation of the dressed molecules, consisting of both preformed Cooper-pairs and ``bare'' Feshbach molecules, has been included within a self-consistent $T$-matrix approximation, beyond the Nozi\`{e}res and Schmitt-Rink strategy considered by Ohashi and Griffin. The resulting self-consistent equations are solved numerically to investigate the normal state properties of the crossover at various resonance widths. It is found that the superfluid transition temperature $T_c$ increases monotonically at all widths as the effective interaction between atoms becomes more attractive. Furthermore, a residue factor $Z_m$ of the molecule's Green function and a complex effective mass have been determined, to characterize the fraction and lifetime of Feshbach molecules at $T_c$. Our many-body calculations of $Z_m$ agree qualitatively well with the recent measurments on the gas of $^6$Li atoms near the broad resonance at 834 Gauss. The crossover from narrow to broad resonances has also been studied.

Using the optimized effective potential method in conjunction with the semi-analytical approximation due to Krieger, Li and Iafrate, we have performed fully self-consistent exact exchange-only density-functional calculations for diatomic molecules with a fully numerical basis-set-free molecular code. The results are very similar to the ones obtained with the Hartree Fock approach. Furthermore we present results for ground states of positive atomic ions including correlation contributions in the approximation of Colle and Salvetti. It is found that the scheme performs significantly better than conventional Kohn-Sham calculations.

I briefly discuss the interchange of molecules between a policeman and a cyclist before failing to distinguish between horror and thrillers. Then I settle into that familiar, beautiful space that is telling you how good Zodiac is. 

When finding the nonzero eigenvalues for Hamiltonian eigenvalue problems it is especially important to locate not only the unstable eigenvalues (i.e., those with positive real part), but also those which are purely imaginary but have negative Krein signature. These latter eigenvalues have the property that they can become unstable upon collision with other purely imaginary eigenvalues, i.e., they are a necessary building block in the mechanism leading to the so-called Hamiltonian-Hopf bifurcation. In this paper we review a general theory for constructing a meromorphic matrix-valued function, the so-called Krein matrix, which has the property of not only locating the unstable eigenvalues, but also those with negative Krein signature. These eigenvalues are realized as zeros of the determinant. The resulting finite dimensional problem obtained by setting the determinant of the Krein matrix to zero presents a valuable simplification. In this paper the usefulness of the technique is illustrated through prototypical examples of spectral analysis of states that have arisen in recent experimental and theoretical studies of atomic Bose-Einstein condensates. In particular, we consider one-dimensional settings (the cigar trap) possessing real-valued multi-dark-soliton solutions, and two-dimensional settings (the pancake trap) admitting complex multi-vortex stationary waveforms.

This library (collection of subroutines) is presented for calculating standard quantities in the decomposition of many-electron matrix elements in atomic structure theory. These quantities include the coefficients of fractional parentage, the reduced coefficients of fractional parentage as well as reduced and completely reduced matrix elements for several operators. So the library is assigned for any computational scheme. The software is an implementation of a methodology based on the second quantization in coupled tensorial form, the angular momentum theory in 3 spaces (orbital, spin and quasispin), and the graphical technique of angular momentum. This implementation extends applications in atomic theory capabilities to partially filled f-- shells and has lead to faster execution of angular integration codes.

Atomic force microscopy is a powerful and precise tool for identifying particle properties and studying intermolecular forces, surface topography, and particle manipulation in the micro-nano dimension. Nanomanipulation is one process that makes good use of this tool. Today, with advances in science and technology, manipulation is used to modify and manufacture the properties of materials, produce more valuable medical components and fewer raw materials, alter the structure of living cells and much more. We are working at the nanoscale. Therefore, in this study, we used atomic force microscopy to investigate the mechanical properties of breast cancer tissue during the nanomanipulation process. By considering the changes induced by the displacement force, force curves and penetration depths are plotted over time. Given the importance of nanoparticle-particle contact and the tatara contact model and breast cancer tissue geometry, simulations were performed to extract the Young's modulus. Experimental experiments and experimental charts were also performed to verify the agreement between the results of the simulation process based on atomic force microscopy. Finally, using the comparisons made in this study and considering the tatara contact model, a range of 2–2.5 kPa was calculated for breast cancer tissue volume.
