Yunior Gonzalez Rosabal. Eng. "We call on the United States and NATO to seriously and realistically address the well-founded demands for security guarantees from the Russian Federation, which has the right to defend itself," the Cuban government said in the statement. Cuba, however, "advocates a diplomatic solution through constructive and respectful dialogue. We call to preserve international peace and security", specified the MINREX (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba). The Castro-communist tyranny uses these words to justify and openly support the criminal and unjustified invasion that Vladimir Putin is carrying out against the Ukrainian nation. Even the official media on the island try to make the Cuban people believe that it is uncertain that Putin is attacking the Ukrainians. Part of the Cuban people is confused about it. However, thanks to the internet and despite the censorship and blockades of certain web pages, we have been able to stay informed as much as possible. We know what the communists are capable of and for that reason we know what someone like Putin can be capable of. The appeal of the Cuban dictatorship to the United States and NATO is just the way it has chosen to mask the criminal support it gives. It is to be expected that the tyranny that reigns on the island should behave subserviently to Russia. We will never forget nor will we forgive that while democratic countries have been denouncing the brutal aggression of Russian forces against Ukrainians, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel approves of the attacks, as do the regimes of Nicolás Maduro and Daniel Ortega-Rosario Murillo, in Venezuela and Nicaragua. While we pray and give our support in the way that we can as a people subjected to a bloody tyranny such as Castro's, we let our Ukrainian brothers and sisters and also President Volodymyr Zelensky know that there are many Cubans of the people who oppose to this criminal invasion. It is the Cuban regime that gives its support to Putin, it is the Cuban leaders, not the Cuban people. Not those of us who are oppressed by a murderous tyranny advised and supported in various ways by the same ones who are attacking you and when we say this, we are referring to the Russian military under the orders of Putin. Neither Ukraine nor the world should ever forget that the Cuban misrule has been one of those that has agreed that Vladimir Putin kills Ukrainians regardless of whether they are women, children, etc. Forbidden to forget all the crimes that Castro-communism has committed against the Cuban people itself, forbidden to forget how Putin has brought death to Ukraine and forbidden to forget that Castroism has been an accomplice to him. By: Yunior Gonzalez Rosabal.

t : l UAN 1 41963, Sanitized - Approved For Re1eakQN'4bRDP U. b. News & World Report A Veteran of the Cuban Invasion Speaks How do Cubans who fought at the Bay of Pigs feel about the U. S. role in that fiasco? This is the story of one Cuban invader, told in his own words. Manuel Penabaz tells of assurances made by representatives of the U. S. Government that the invasion against Castro would have U. S. support. Then, he relates, lust when-"the invaders n' help most-and might hen won-theyweri Id: "We cannot give you any further suppel .~; Many veterans of the Invasion; just ed from Castro prisons, say; they hold no for against the United States. But Pena btizoy3' "We did not fall. We were betrayed." ,r CPYRGHT by Manuel Penabaz seep a vancmg. Keep advancing-and s c air. So long as I live, I shall never forget those words. They sounded out from an American ship, from the officer who directed our landing operations at the Bay of Pigs on the coast of Cuba, where 1,500 of irs Cubans offered our lives in the hope of liberating our beloved coruatrv from the rule of the bearded despot, Fidel Castro, on April 17, 1961. "Keep advancing and firing! Take the area ahead-and waitl" To us who had struggled ashore from our landing barges, the words "and wait" meant only one thing: "Help is on the way. When we were recruited for this perilous mission, and during our exhaustive training in Guatemala-even while on the slow, ancient freighters that brought us from our em- barkation port in Nicaragua-we were promised the support of the armed forces of the United States. "Over you will be air cover," we were told, "and back of you the Navy and land forces of the United States and other free nations of the Americas. You cannot fail." We did not fail. We were betrayed. After three days of fighting, we heard again that same American voice that had exhorted us to "keep advancing-- and wfi, , it." Only this time it said: "We cannot give you any further support." The whole invasion operation that had been planned and directed by agencies of the U. S. Government had been abandoned by that Government at the moment when vic- tory could have overthrown Fidel Castro. Of the 1,500 who began the assault at the Bay of Pigs on that warm April morning, about 100 were killed; 60 later died of wounds, starvation, torture and executions; most of the others were captured. I was among the lucky. I escaped. Four of my comrades and I found a raft and, after five days afloat, were rescued. Now my surviving comrades of that invasion also have been freed-ransomed from Castro's prison cells. Many of them have told me since their arrival in Miami that their lips are scaled because they have relatives still in Cuba, 1, too, have relatives in Cuba. But my lips are not sealed. I will tell the story of what happened at the Bay of Pigs, be- cause I believe that such a mistake must not be'maddagain by any government or people of the free world, For me, the story of the invasion began in Miami,,Fla., when I heard the words: "Recruits are needed-=revs to overthrow Castro." The Central Intelligence Agency of the U.;S rirn- meat, headed by Allen Dulles, was the nriw~und training group for our volunteers.: : sx Several officers of the Cen Intelligenc A ere operating in the Miami Brea, gout the leaders ong the Cuban exiles and encouraging` them to select theI ilpdiest an invasion of Cuba "fairly n 1li01 17 The first airlifts' of volunteers to training'`einpd in late summer, 1980. S. had to offer. At Retalhuleu, Guatemala, a splendid airstrip had been . laid down by American engineers. All about were; ;huge accumulations of war material-aircraft, mortarrs,... ons of bombs and other ammunition., Over the whole operation, there was an air of 'great . secrecy. Our instructors, American officers, wore only fatigue uniforms, with no markings. We knew them only .by first names. But it was apparent that they were experienced and efficient. ' It did not take us long to learn that "Frank," the ' man who gave the orders for both Americans and Cubans, was a colonel. The American subordinate officers were all experts in their fields. "Ray" was our rifle and pistol Instructor. It leaked out that he was from California and a pistol cham- pion. "Sam," chief trainer of the parachutists, was plalgly a veteran of many combat jumps. Briefing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Cuban Involvement in the Invasion of Zaire - 9 June 1978 Action Requested: Your approval of the attached 2. Back round: As you are aware, you are scheduled to brief t to Foreign Relations Committee on the Cuban involvement in the invasion of Zaire on 9 June 1978 at 1000 hours. The briefing will take place in S 116, The Capitol. Forwarded herewith are biographic cards on Committee Members.. 3. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee initially asked to be p ovided with the intelligence reports on which our analysis of Cuban involvement in the invasion of Zaire was based. Bill Miller, Staff Director, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, was able to work out an arrangement whereby the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was persuaded to accept, at least initially, an assessment by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in lieu of the reports themselves. However, because of the article by Bernard Gwertzman appearing in the 7 June edition of the New York Times (copy attached), it is possible that at least some Members of the Committee will renew the request that the Committee be provided the intelligence reports, although Senator George McGovern (D., S. Dak.) has indicated to Bill Miller that he expects no more than the Senate Select Committee's assessment.. The publicity surrounding the 7 June New York Times article may cause some Members to feel CON; !DENTIA 2 Signer - Approved For Release 2004/12/22 :-CIA RDP81 M00980R002100040091-5

1Heilige

By

4Directory of the Devout Life

By

We can never allow the great objective facts of Christianity, and their attendant doctrines, to sink low on our horizon; but we must give equal prominence to the demands of Christ for a righteousness which shall exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, and a perfection which shall resemble that of God. We have no right to be content with saying "Lord, Lord;" we must do the things which He says.

Of course, the right kind of obedience is impossible, apart from the Cross and the Spirit. We must be reconciled before we can become obedient children; we must be filled with the Spirit before "the fragrance of Christ" can be manifested through us in every place. The Sermon on the Mount must be read in the transfiguring light which shines backwards from the later events in our Lord's life.

When, however, this is borne in mind, each sentence of that marvelous discourse glistens with celestial radiance, and rings with the music of the Gospel. In such a spirit let us address ourselves to the study of the "Directory of the Devout Life," as it is contained in Matt. v., vi., and vii. (from the Preface)

F. B. Meyer was a Baptist preacher and a friend and contemporary of D. L. Moody.

5Joseph: Beloved, Hated, Exalted

By

I remember seeing the huge Matterhorn reflected, in its minutest details, in a small mountain lakelet, many miles distant; and similarly, the life of Jesus is remarkably mirrored in this touching story. In fact, there are scenes in the life of Joseph which probably foreshadow events that are timed to happen in the near future, and which depict them with a vividness and minuteness not to be found elsewhere on the page of Scripture. It is here only that we can fully realize what will take place when the Lord Jesus makes Himself known to his brethren according to the flesh, and they exclaim, "It is Jesus our brother!" (From the Preface)

6Hochzeit des Mönchs

By

- Summary by Eva K.

7Israel: A Prince with God

By

An old-world story this! In its strange Eastern dress, it appears to be as remote from us as the garb of an Arab, or the barter of an Oriental Bazaar. And yet human life is much the same, whenever and wherever lived. Our critics complain of our poring over these timeworn pages of ancient biography, but, with all deference to them, we feel bound to say that we learn better how to live, we inhale more spiritual ozone, we see further into the reasons of God's dealings with men, when doing so, than when scanning the pages of yesterday's newspaper, or of a society journal. Thousands of miles cannot part us from our kin across the seas; and thousands of years cannot part us from our kin across the ages, or sever the readers of these words from the son of Isaac, who, nearly drowned in the seas of his own craft and cunning, at length emerged a new man, and a prince with God. (Adapted by MaryAnn from Chapter 1)

8Bells of Is

By

"It has always seemed to me, amid submerged masses, deep down at the bottom of the ocean of human life, there are yearnings and desires for a better life, that ring sadly and perpetually. It has been the aim of my life to listen for these, and where I have detected them, to present the only answer -- the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Some of the ways in which I have sought to do this during my Leicester life are narrated in this book, which serves to show what may be done in this direction amid the cares of a busy pastorate."
