Founder of Daak, the beautiful writing of letters to a post box in Lahore in an attempt to bridge the conversation between the people of our two countries garnered immense support. That is when I met Amy online. I looked her up and I wrote to her. We kept in touch ever since. Amy, teacher, writer, poet, activist. A young woman of today's times. She throws herself wholeheartedly into what she believes requires her to lean in. I've seen her online presence and her protest against NRC and CAA with her writing, showing up at gatherings and reading her poems for equal opportunity for all. Always graceful, always thoughtful, always focused on solutions. There's a playful, youthful side of Amy that you get to see online as well, a romantic, funny girl who adores life in all its chaos. It was this that drew me to reach out to her. During #lockdown I checked in with her a couple of times, we even did an Instagram live session together. I told her about the podcast I was planning and she politely declined to say she had no compelling saree story to narrate yet. And then there was silence. No replies to my messages over another project we had discussed. Nothing. She came back a couple of weeks later and wrote that she was ready to record the podcast. I was surprised that she now had a saree story to share. What had made her change her mind in the silence that had ensued from the last time we had connected? No opening take. We begin the show by hearing from Bill Bedenbaugh and Lee tells you why he doesn't buy into PFF College very much anymore (1:30). It sounds like Andrew Raym will not be playing in the spring game. What, if anything, will we be watching for Saturday when it comes to the O-Line (6:55)? The weather forecast is not ideal for Saturday which could ruin everything (12:25). Grant really wants to see Dillon Gabriel throw it around Saturday. Lee is curious to see Theo Wease and and Jovantae Barnes in action (18:10). Grant's waiting to see all the freshmen pass catchers and is intrigued by the backup QBs (21:50). On defense, we'll be taking a long look at cornerback Kani Walker. What position will Clatyon Smith play? What about Marcus Stripling? Shane Whitter shed some light on the \"Cheetah\" position on defense and Grant has one last defensive player on his mind (24:05). Lee plays a soundbite from Brent Venables that sounded like he was talking directly to Grant (31:05). Grant explains why Baker Mayfield is arguably the most important player in the history of the OU football program (37:00). Lee's love of Baker has cooled in the past couple of years. Some of Mayfield's recent comments on that podcast were not ideal given what we know about Mayfield's background (45:30). Grant's convinced Mayfield's chance to be one of the top QBs in the NFL is over. The Browns are taking a risk by bringing in Watson -- what if karma is on Mayfield's side (51:10)? Bette Yarbrough Cox was a music educator in Los Angeles for more than 30 years, the founder of the BEEM (Black Experience as Expressed through Music) Foundation for the Advancement of Music, a Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for the City of Los Angeles, and a longtime friend of former Mayor Tom Bradley. As she recalled to the Los Angeles Times in 1995, the school district first accepted the teaching of black history in the late 1960s, a seismic shift from her UCLA undergraduate days in 1938. To enhance her classroom curriculum, Cox looked for books about the black history of music in Southern California, but her search through library shelves came up mostly empty. Cox decided to do something about this lacuna and spent the next 20+ years documenting the untold story behind the music of black Los Angeles. She ultimately published her research in the book "Central Avenue--Its Rise and Fall, 1890-c. 1955: Including the Musical Renaissance of Black Los Angeles."
