The Security Awareness Working Group (SAWG) was established in the December 1976 SECOM meeting at the recom-- mendation of the NSA member for enhancement of the security awareness of the Community. The SAWG has been chaired by the NSA representative since that time and has included re- presentation from each IC organization. 2. During 1978, the SAWG compiled and published a Bibliography of Security Personnel and Materials available in the Intelligence Community. These materials include film, tapes, slides, pamphlets, etc. which are available at each Agency or Department and can be made available to other IC member organizations for the purpose of promoting security awareness. This publication is designed for periodic updating. 3. The SAWG also prepared an initial draft of a proposed Annex to DCID 1/14, Minimum Standards for Security Awareness Programs in the U.S. Intelligence Community. This draft was presented at the January 1979 SAWG meeting for future comments and discussion. 4. The Coast Guard is becoming increasingly reliant upon our nation's information infrastructure. As such, our ability to ensure the security of those systems is also increasing in import. Traditional information security measures tend to be system-oriented and often fail to address the human element that is critical to system success. In order to ensure information system security, both system and human factors requirements must be addressed. This thesis attempts to identify both the susceptibility of Coast Guard information systems to human factors-based security risks and possible means for increasing user awareness of those risks. This research is meant to aid the Coast Guard in continuing to capitalize on emerging technologies while simultaneously providing a secure information systems environment.

The matrix analysis of the literature review in this study succeeded in producing factors that contribute to information security awareness. Information security awareness plays an important role in the continuity of an organization. Information security refers to the elements of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, of data or information, in an organization. The research began with definitions of information, information security, and information security awareness, as identified by previous publications. The four independent variables established in this study are policy of information security, education of information security, knowledge of IT, and employee’s behaviour towards information security in the workplace. A survey was selected as a research method for the study, and was conducted in order to gain respondent’s feedback on the level of information security awareness. The survey findings showed that the level of information security awareness was considered high, but the relation or contribution factors proposed by this study were only slight correlated.

We usually do not think of counterespionage and intelligence security measures as being affected by the climate of public opinion. Intelligence threats are seen as coming either from foreign agents or troubled individuals beset by personal problems or character flaws. But, as the Oxbridge recruitments in Great Britain in the 1930's illustrate, at certain times and places societal conditions can provide a more (or less) hospitable climate for espionage. As societal conditions shift, one must first recognize how the changes may undermine intelligence security and second develop procedures to maintain security; despite the changes. Security awareness means not only keeping up with the latest technologies for gathering and protecting information, but also understanding how changes in the climate of public opinion may alter our ability to maintain security.

Nowadays, the number of cyberattacks and, consequently, the risk of them is increasing significantly. So, it is vital to be aware of the cybersecurity situation. This paper provides a model to measure the success or effectiveness of the organization's security missions, that is, to determine whether security events such as the occurrence of an attack or the selection of countermeasures have been effective on the success of organizational missions. Two components are considered as inputs for this purpose. The first one is the network dependency graph which demonstrates how different assets in the network are dependent on each other and with what intensity or weight they affect each other. Another component is the mission dependency graph which specifies the relation between organizational assets, tasks, functions, and mission objectives. It also specifies the impact of the assets on the organizational tasks, functions, and mission objectives. Previous researches focused more on determining the impact of attacks on different assets. However, this paper aims to assess this impact by considering the organizational mission. This model is proposed in such a way that its components are separable. It helps different organizations with specific goals and different requirements to use this model so that they can personalize and customize its different components. This model can be employed for critical asset recognition. Moreover, it enables us to know which countermeasures are more effective in terms of the organizational mission.

This article looks at corporate agility from indicators such as sensing agility, decision making agility, acting agility or practice. It went on to review what cyber security awareness entails by stating some of the most possible threat that people encountered on a daily bases. The article identify poor management of cyber security solutions provided by modern internet security experts in the form of difficulty of tracing the cyber crime attackers, limited cybercrime laws, and limited IT security knowledge among internet users as the problems that the study addresses. Theory of protection motivation was used primarily to explain cyber security awareness, and how and when a user adopts adaptive behaviors. The article conclude that cyber security awareness is more important now than it has ever been before and that threats to personal and corporate information are increasing and identities are getting stolen every day. The article recommend that government, deposit money banks, users, mass media and manager should introduce and enforce cybercrime laws, train ,offers advices and create more awareness among their staff and clients of the organization on the need to be aware of internet threat and be careful in their dealings on a daily bases. Awareness of Data Security of Facebook Users in the Philippines Identifying the level of awareness and does gender affect the level of awareness. The researchers conducted online surveys to facilitate the consolidation easily and have a faster tracking of the number of respondents. This research is based on another research from Harvard stating that Filipinos are the least in the ranking and need to be made aware of Data Security and its importance. It is a reality check if Filipinos need to be made aware; the respondents come from first-year University of Cordilleras students, specifically from the College of Information and Computer Science. We have chosen the first-year students knowing that teens nowadays use Facebook not only to socialize with others but also in terms of school and family matters. The following chapters include a brief overview of social networking and social media history. They focus primarily on the Facebook website and one of the main problems: its data and privacy security settings and policies. After setting the stage with this overview, various research related to privacy and data security awareness of various countries will be summarized and compared with the survey results conducted in this research. This study mainly focused on understanding how far Facebook users in the Philippines understand Facebook's privacy and data security. Surveys conducted in this research also look to determine to what extent Filipino Facebook users edit and configure their privacy settings online. Aside from these findings, there is also a comparison between Male and Female Facebook users to determine whether there is any significant difference in the survey results.

The Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) are vulnerable to the same kinds of threats to its information infrastructure as the rest of the industrialized nations, As an officer in the RSNF, I am familiar with the special information assurance needs and interests of my organization, and thus, I am in a position to leverage my formal Information Technology Management (ITM) education to address these needs, The United States has played a prominent lead role in establishing many educational curriculums in the area of information assurance (IA), Though the breadth and depth of educational curriculum and resource materials (i,e,, universities, certification programs, computer-based training, Web content, etc,) is impressive; the shear volume can be overwhelming and intimidating to the novice, What is needed is a methodical survey of the main IA themes that are currently emphasized by the most prominent and respected institutions offering IA training and education, This survey needs to be cross-referenced to identify core areas, and any other didactic information (e,g,, models, rules, best practices, etc,) that might prove useful in developing final training products for the RSNF.

Although many of the concepts included in cyber security awareness training are universal, such training often must be tailored to address the policies and requirements of a particular organization. In addition, many forms of training fail because they are rote and do not require users to think about and apply security concepts. A flexible, highly interactive video game, CyberCIEGE, is described as a security awareness tool that can support organizational security training objectives while engaging typical users in an engaging security adventure. The game is now being successfully utilized for information assurance education and training by a variety of organizations. Preliminary results indicate the game can also be an effective addition to basic information awareness training programs for general computer users e.g., annual awareness training.

SUBJECT: Minimum Standards for Community Security Awareness Programs 1' Attached for your review and comment is a memorandum from the Chairman, SECOM Security Awareness and Education Subcommittee (SAES), forwarding a recommended revision of Annex C to DCID 1/14, "Minimum Standards for SCI Security Awareness Programs in the U.S. Intelligence Community." The revision responds to a suggestion from the Department of Energy member that the standards should cover all intelligence information, not just SCI. The original standards (SECOM-D-543 dated July 1979) had a broad application, but their restatement as an annex to DCID 1/14 limited their applicability to SCI. In order to emphasize the broad applicability of the draft revision, the SAES recommends that it be issued as a separate DCI publication. Comments are requested on its publication as a separate DCID or in some other format. 2. It was suggested at the 24 July 1985 SECOM meeting that the proposed new section of OCID 1/14 dealing with outside activities of security concern be divided into a short policy section and a longer implementation portion. Consideration of that suggestion indicates that it may be desirable to include some of the implementation in the proposed security awareness publication. A recommendation to do so will be provided later. Another item which should be considered for addition to the draft revision is a requirement for supervisory security responsibilities. The SAES considered that but concluded that the subject is covered by implication in the attached draft. Members are requested to comment on whether that or any other subject(s) should be included in the draft revision. 3. This memorandum is in response to Chairman, SECOM's request that comments be forwarded regarding referenced subject. The following comments are submitted for your consideration: ? It is agreed that Annex C should be reissued as a separate DCID addressing not only SCI but also classified intelligence information. It is recommended that supervisory responsibility be clearly spelled out in the new DCID. It is not obviously implied in the present version. It is suggested that in the event this draft is issued as a separate DCID and is removed as an annex to DCID 1/14, the new DCID should include in paragraph 1 h (5) another subparagraph which more explicitly explains the obvious security vulnerabilities such as excessive drinking, sexual perversions, drug use and so forth. 2. A general comment about the entire draft is that, although it is adequate as an annex, it should be expanded if it is issued as a separate DCID. This report presents the results of a survey designed to describe the shape of current Security Awareness Training and Education (SATE) programs in DoD, focusing on the military services. Overall, the security representatives who were interviewed rated their SATE programs as moderately successful. However, five areas are identified where modest changes could improve the effectiveness of such programs. They are: instructional media enhancements, security manager training, SATE policy and requirements, security manager support, and security inspections. Recommendations in each of the five areas are presented.

This report provides background information and a concept of operations for a simple procedure called the Personal Acknowledgment of Staff Security (PASS). The purpose of the proposed procedure is to increase supervisor awareness, felt responsibility, accountability, and reporting of behaviors related to foreign intelligence entity (FIE) threats in accordance with Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5240.06, Counterintelligence Awareness and Reporting (CIAR), May 17, 2011. The defining feature of PASS is the requirement of a signed certification by supervisors that they understand and intend to comply with reporting policy. Recent psychological research suggests that the additional step of requiring a signed acknowledgment may make training and reporting requirements more salient and improve compliance. The present report presents findings from field research on the PASS concept, as well as descriptions of paper and computer-based versions of the procedure.
