Come sempre, non vi preoccupate se non capite tutto. Nei primi episodi cercherò di parlare lentamente e usare parole e frasi poco complicate e lentamente, molto lentamente, aumenterò la velocità. Potete sempre leggere la trascrizione di ogni episodio. Ho molta fiducia in voi e sono sicuro che in pochissimo tempo il vostro ascolto e comprensione migliorerà tantissimo! Allora, incominciamo. Oggi volevo parlarvi di un argomento che fino a neanche tanto tempo fa sembrava assurdo ovvero impossibile, ma lentamente più e più persone ne parlano. L'argomento di oggi e sui robot. I robot ci ruberanno il lavoro? Come dicevo e un argomento interessante perche fino a poco tempo fa, i robot erano prodotti di scrittori di fantascienza. Che cos'e la fantascienza? Questa e una parola composta da fanta- che significa fantastico, immaginario, creativo e scienza. Gli scrittori di fantascienza descrivono mondi e società dove la tecnologia e così evoluta che macchinari come i robot sono in grado di fare tutto. Addirittura di pensare autonomamente e decidere da soli. Spesso in questi racconti i robot si ribellano e cercano prendere il posto degli umani. Un esempio celebre e famosissimo e Matrix. In questo mondo immaginario, le macchine e gli uomini sono in lotta per il dominio del mondo. Dominio significa diventare i padroni. Finora e per fortuna, non esistono computer o robot così avanzati. Anzi, i robot che esistono adesso sono molto lenti e non possono compiere molte operazioni. Sebbene capaci di vincere una partita a scacchi in pochi minuti o finire il cubo di Rubik in secondi, hanno molta difficoltà a operare nel nostro mondo. Aprire una porta o prendere un oggetto sono delle operazioni molto complesse. La tecnologia sta facendo dei passi da gigante, ad esempio oggi quasi tutti noi abbiamo un'assistente vocale nel nostro cellulare che e in grado di capire quello che diciamo e gli chiediamo di fare e loro eseguono. Fino a neanche dieci anni fa questo sarebbe stato impensabile, addirittura fantascientifico! Amazon sta sviluppando dei droni in grado di consegnare i pacchi direttamente a casa nostra e Google e Tesla stanno sviluppando delle automobili in grado di guidare da sole. Per non parlare dell'aspirapolvere Roomba che pulisce casa mentre siamo al lavoro. Insomma, lentamente i robot stanno entrando nelle nostre vite quindi molti si incominciano a chiedere se toglieranno il lavoro agli umani. Secondo me siamo ancora lontani da creare dei robot in grado di pensare autonomamente e magari non raggiungeremo mai questo tipo di tecnologia descritto nei libri di fantascienza. Sicuramente i robot incominceranno a svolgere un sacco di lavori noiosi e ripetitivi che nessuno vuole fare e cambieranno in meglio le nostre vite. Credo arriveremo a un punto dove vivremo molto bene insieme con i robot come e stato anche con i computer. Infatti anche dei computer si pensava avrebbero tolto un sacco di lavori, invece non e stato così perche molti di noi lavoriamo a stretto contatto con i computer e hanno creato dei nuovi lavori che non potevamo neanche immaginare una ventina di anni fa. Monkey vs Robots is a casual, old-style pixelart puzzle. Your objective is to wipe robots out of your jungle, the less shoots you use, the better reward you will get. Collecting 3 bananas per stage you can unlock more stages. Just avoid the coconuts to bounce on the walls as less possible since they'll break before destroying the robots. The game has many different kinds of enemies and special balls with different properties like pinball-balls, bombs etc. There are 75 stages in total (25 free to play).

The integration of social robots into healthcare and mental health settings has emerged as a promising solution to address the shortage of human healthcare professionals. For this purpose, it is crucial for robots to possess the capability to provide emotional support effectively, ensuring trust and the well-being of patients. Emotional support has been shown to have positive effect in human-human interaction and reduce emotional distress (Cobb 1976). This study investigates the potential of social robots to offer emotional support by employing emotion regulation strategies commonly used by humans. Particularly, the study explores the effect of emotional support strategies in distressing situations, and how these are perceived. Common strategies of emotional support are the expression of empathy and cognitive reappraisal. This research focuses on empathy and cognitive reappraisal as emotional support strategies. The expression of empathy entails making clear that the target’s feelings are understood and shared (McQuiggan, 2008). Cognitive reappraisal subjective is the reinterpretation of a stimulus from a different perspective (Webb et al., 2012). The findings of this research aim to enhance our understanding of social robots' emotion regulation capabilities and inform the design of effective human-robot interactions, particularly in contexts where emotional support is crucial.

With this project we want to take a closer look at the gender attribution of robots. In doing so, the influence of personality traits, specifically Need For Cognition, affinity for technology interaction, negative attitudes towards robots, and anthropomorphization tendencies, on gender attribution will be examined. Furthermore, the interaction between gender attribution and the perceived characteristics of robots will be analyzed

This research aims to assess public perceptions of three specific agricultural approaches and determine how these can guide sustainable future farming practices that align with public acceptance. These three approaches are: 1. Organic Farming (OF) 2. Genetic Engineering (GE) 3. Robotics, AI & Digitalization (RAD) Specifically, the research focuses on assessing the classification RAD in comparison to the other two approaches based on their perceived potential to contribute to sustainability in agriculture. Structured reviews (e.g. Saikanth et al., 2023) and the quantification of publications across scientific search engines, such as Web of Science, highlight the significance of the approaches under investigation. For this purpose, residents of Germany (approximate sample size n=2,400) are interviewed in an online survey. The sample will be representative in terms of gender, age, income, education, and place of residence. The sample is split into four groups. Three groups randomly receive a Future Farm Treatment of a fictitious dairy farm in Germany that either relies on RAD, uses GE in livestock breeding and arable farming, or manages the farm organically. The fourth group receives no further treatment and serves as a control. Since participants’ knowledge is assessed for each specific technology treatment, these knowledge-related questions are grouped together and applied as a placebo intervention in the control group. Previous studies indicate high public expectations for RAD to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability (Pfeiffer et al., 2021; Wilmes et al., 2022; Zeddies et al., 2024). Additionally, public support is notably high for OF practices (e.g., Schleenbecker & Hamm, 2013), while it remains low for the application of GE in agriculture (e.g., Inken et al., 2008). The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the relative level of public acceptance of RAD compared to the two other approaches. The second objective is to assess whether an informational intervention - using an example farm that presents both positive and negative aspects of each approach - affects acceptance levels. The third objective examines whether exposure to specific technology or agricultural system treatments influences shifts in preferences for agricultural policy. Attitudes are assessed through a multi-tiered approach following Construal Level Theory in consumer behavior and incorporating distance as an influencing factor for consumer decisions (Liberman et al., 2007): first, directly through willingness-to-pay (WTP) questions related to milk product examples; second, indirectly by measuring willingness-to-invest (WTI) via a hypothetical distribution question involving an agricultural policy budget; and third, by evaluating the effect of the treatments on policy goal preferences using best-worst scaling. As this study design is complex, we attach a figure that should provide an intuitive overview of the study design. In a further step, 36-40 participants who have already taken part in the online study will be invited to volunteer and discuss their impressions and study responses in greater depth in four online focus group discussions (FGD) with 8 to 10 participants per FGD round.

Ward, Olsen and Wegner (2013) found that witnessing intentional harm towards a robot increases the perception that the robot is capable of experiencing pain. This served as a catalyst for mind perception more broadly. In a previous registered study, we replicated the original study (Ward et al., 2013) and expanded it in two ways. First, we added a separate condition in which the robot is described as lacking emotional capabilities. Second, we tested whether perceiving intentional harm towards a robot influences the perception of the “perpetrator”, i.e., the person who inflicts harm to the robot. In this follow-up study, we made changes to the original stimulus material. Specifically, we changed the motivation for harming the robot, so that the actions of the “perpetrator” are targeted directly against the robot, rather than indirectly targeted at another human being.

This project aims to find out if social connectedness and skepticism about change mediate the positive and negative effects of nostalgia on responses to companion robots, respectively.

Our goal is to study whether a social robot’s influence on children’s prosocial behavior (a) can be enhanced by a social robot’s physical embodiment and explained by social presence, and (b) is modified by transparency about the pre-programmed nature of a robot’s behavior and its lack of human capacities. The two related studies have a one-factorial design each, with either embodiment (yes vs. no) or transparency (about the machine-like status; yes vs. no) being the between-subject factor.

Escape from the Killer Robots! (1987)(UpTime Softdisk Publishing)[cr ASS]

Rise of the Robots Arcade prototype developed by Mirage to be published by Bell-Fruit in 1995. Running on RasterSpeed hardware by ATD (Attention-to-Detail) The ill fated prototype of the arcade conversion of Rise of the Robots. Bare in mind the emulation is not complete and has issues and even the game it self is probably incomplete. The speed doesn't feel right running twice the speed (especially the timer) compared to all the home versions but I have no idea if that's how it is on actual arcade hardware. The game has many notable changes compared to the home versions and includes features found in the later Rise 2 home release. Firstly, You can play through the single player story mode with any character. Secondly, the game has a special move unlock system where you unlock an extra move each time you defeat your clone. At the start you can select from any of the six robots as well as other colour options for them giving the illusion of 18 fighters although they do have differing special moves. You play against each opponent twice before finally facing off against the sub and main boss.  There are many extra animations to account for all the different fight possibilities but non of cyborgs in game game cutscenes play as you move through the campaign, only the enemy defeated ones. Partial bits of those cutscenes are seen in the attract mode however. A notable issue is that the second time you face the opponent, the colour palette is locked to a single channel. Due to the wacky speed of the game, the fights are over quickly one way or another. It can be difficult to pull off the special moves as the input time window is pretty short. The game has all the same issues though as the home versions in that the game is a bit too easy. You can just light punch your way to victory, but that would have made a boring video. Oh yeah, you have three punch buttons, light, medium and hard. The light ones being fast and dealing little damage and the hard punch being slow making you vulnerable but packs a real punch. A single kick on the forth button. Finally, you probably noticed that there is also no in game music, only ambient effects. This longplay covers playing through the single player campaign with all six characters in order to show as many of the defeated animations as I can. Watch out for what is laughably the ending as it has a migraine inducing flashing effect going on. Overall, its probably a better game than the home versions but that's not saying much as really the only good part of the arcade game is it's attract mode! Maybe it's just me, but does the music in the middle intro have a Stargate Atlantis vibe ?? I couldn't find the moves for this version of the game written anywhere so I have noted down any I find. There could be more as I see the Opponents doing moves , maybe taunts like Military spinning on the spot that I cant and I couldn't figure out the last unlockable move on crusher.
